Doc Bud's High Brix Q&A With Pictures

'Tard..have you tried going longer by a week or 2 past 'your' preferred done?

a week is a marked difference on the Panamas..

No because if its how I prefer it, thats the way I want it lol!! Im not gonna waste a grow on a "chance" that waiting an extra week will make it better or different. I don't go 12/12 from seed and can only have 3 plants in flower. Taking "chances" just wont cut it for me. Besides, my smoke is always awesome so why change it :)

Well, mine is the best ive ever smoked bro! I havent tried any other brixers produce! I don't smoke every day or even every other day so my tolerance is pretty low! But when I smoke someone else's it doesn't even come close! And thats after I sit and hear how "bomb" or how great of a grower they are lmao!! I laugh and take it with a grain of salt. I went golfing yesterday and got paired up with 3 dudes...2 of them had some smoke. The younger dude said he was a grower. He had bubble kush, we smoked, I wasnt impressed. I brought a J with me...ha ha! He said it had some "lethal" to it lmao!!! Nuff said :)

Panama especially, but also a couple others including Tikal became "different" a couple weeks past the recommended harvest window. The buds on Panama went from elegant and pointy-tipped, to knarly and swollen. Really freaky looking. Tikal kinda went into a stuck-in-bloom mode - she'd grow a buncha new white pistils, pause to fatten up those calyxes, and then repeat - over and over again. It was a 12 week strain and at 16 weeks I finally got tired of watching it.

The smoke in those cases was also different - sorta thicker/heavier/denser - more potent, but mostly ... :hmmm: ... "fuller".

I noticed the same thing Graytail. One day I will see just how long it will go. I've seen on the breeder's forum for tikal, that some are running her 18 weeks and finally giving up and chopping it. ACE says they do all their testing outside so they can't really say how long their strains will go in an indoor environment.

Yeah, I have absolutely no urge to let a plant go near that long! That's another reason I'm holding off on doing any pure sativas. I don't see any benefit to a plant that takes a whole 3 or 4 or 5 weeks more than what I grow now. It just doesn't make sense to me. Maybe when the laws change and I have a secure outdoor garden...who knows! :)

I still haven't gotten my far red bulbs but I bet they help sativas finish faster since they basically add two hours of dark period.

I have been waiting for pots to fully dry between watering. I have been using the pot weight method to figure out how much water is still in pot, but I am really waiting for slight drooping. What happens if droop happens just before lights out? Rather, should I water before lights out or wait, even if plants are showing signs?

Blood meal in final container, top dress again mid/late bloom. Also epsom salts. OG drench...meh....not with all the blood and epsom. Cat Drench yes!

sorry, took me forever to find this post haha. I always ask questions, get stoned and forget I asked them! How much bloodmeal in a 10 or 15gal container do you think I need?

Good day Gang...Gaffle. If they show you signs they're getting dry....water, no matter when. In nature it rains at night too, the important thing is,...you let the container dry out , and the roots went looking for H2O...now it's time to give them a nice big drink again. Cheers to ya!
As far as the when to harvest and all that talk earlier, i have come to realize alot of the most dank flavours happen very late in bloom , after most of , or all the pistils have receeded back to the calyx and no more are visible. I've done every different way, multiple times and there are benefits to early, late, or just when YOU decide it's time. So many factors come into play...like this one...i need more smoke...and can't wait another two weeks , so, oh well, it looks good to me. Yes it does , but more often than not, (like every time) when it's allowed to fully ripen , you get ALL the terpines matured and ALL the gland heads full, and ripe. Anyhow, have a great day everyone....i'l be watchin the "Wings" try and win against the Rangers this afternoon! GO WINGS, GO!:cheertwo:

I'll go ahead and put a pint or so in the top even if it's right before lights out and then give the full drench the next morning with the others. Done it many times. Be careful not to let them get too dry in flower. Definitely not as dry as you do in veg.

Hey guys, I put this Wonder woman Fem. into flower two weeks ago. What should I top dress with at this point to really help those buds take off? Remember, I am not High Brix yet but am using a "super soil" recipe. Have added CACO3 as top dressing two weeks ago along with a bit of Epsom salt. Any thing else recommended to start these big potent sticky buds off right?

Sorry, that HPS hakes look ugly as you guys know, Thank you for any help!

edit: almost forgot to add that I also water once every other week with a basic ACT (WC,Molasses, alfalfa) at full strength. Should I add anything to the ACT after it has finished brewing? To make a nutrient tea?
Also the leaves look really flat (not so shiny as my last) with this one, my jock horror auto was beautiful very shiny "thick" feeling leaves.

OK... Got a noob question for the community

How do I know when it's getting time to transplant from a 1 gallon pot to the final container?

Does anyone have a rough estimate of how long it takes from seed in a 1 gallon pot?

I thought I read in the thread somewhere that it has to do with the frequency plant needs watering, but I can't remember, and cannot find it for the life of me.

This is day 44 from seed taken 2 days ago. Just trying to get an idea of how much longer I have to go.

Pull it from the pot and check the roots! I do it all the time. Ill start to notice my leaves sagging all the time too no matter how much or when I feed them. That plant looks like its nicely rootbound. When you transplant, it's crucial to score them at 3-6-9-12 oclock about a half inch deep and use ROOTS to cover them before you repot. Water them in with transplant and tea and watch them explode. If it's done right there should be maybe 1 or 2 hours of recovery time :)

I found it is when the plant needs water every couple of days.
Wild guess is maybe 4-6 weeks after plant is above ground (I start in cups).

I start in solos all the time too. This time tho, I went into 2 gallon pots which I found made a more robust plant before going into the 10s. Seems to be working great too.

That one looks ready any time you are. :cheesygrinsmiley:

I checked my calendar and I've been going 50-60 days in my 1.5 gallon pots before upcanning.
