re: Doc Bud - High Brix Q&A With Pictures

Ok Doc....I will back off on the energy. Like I mentioned I do not think they were poorly developed roots....quite the opposite actually.

What about the epsom foliar? too late?

So I am going to continue on then with brix and stress applications if you think that is a good idea.

What are your thoughts on flushing?

Thanks,

Any2

re: Doc Bud - High Brix Q&A With Pictures

12 days in @ 12/12. New growth looks promising but young. I will get some pics for you in the tomorrow am. Looks good so far.....what about the brix and the stress Doc continue on? I hate polluting this thread so much with this but this is where we learn or at least I do lol.

I will monitor the new growth and go from there on the flushing part of it but if I can avoid that process I think that would be best.

Thanks,

Any2

If the new growth is good, a good "watering" without Energy, transplant or Cat-drench is all that is called for.

Are the leaves crispy and dry, or just clawed? If they're crispy, necrotic and dehydrated do not foliar feed. If they're just distorted and new growth is good, spray on schedule.

It's hard to guess what's going on, but from everything you're saying it's a root issue that will sort itself out. BTW, did you score the rootball on transplant? If so, how did you do it?

This journal is called, "High Brix Q and A" so I welcome ALL your questions. Sometimes I might merely say, "Did you read the instructions?" But your questions are excellent and I'll try to answer them all.

re: Doc Bud - High Brix Q&A With Pictures

Ok Doc,

Yes I did score them with a box cutter but only 2x @ 180 degrees and gently broke apart the bottoms letting approx 2-3 inches of root dangle. I know your technique and what you have written in the lab section is to score 4 sides@ 90 degrees. Next time I will do all 4....I was in a bit of a rush that morning and wanted to get them in the dark at their normal time so I did it from recall.

As far as the leaves go they are not crispy or necrotic but have a rigid leathery feel to them, dehydrated perhaps. I can grab one bend it backwards from its claw position and it will stay just like that if I allow it.

I gave them each a gal of water on Sunday evening which was 5 days from transplanting and a gal of transplant water then. They were dry this morning so I gave them a little over a quart each this morning.

I did not foliar and awaiting what you think. It pains me to have plants that look like this but soon I hope to have them look like my fellow brixters out there!

Some pics.

You're gonna be fine. The root ball wasnt big enough to support that size plant. That will improve over the next week.

next time you water, do the following:

1. When nearly dry, soak the hell out of them with straight water....like 3 or 4 gallons for each container.
2. About an hour after watering, mix up 2 gallons of transplant water with Tea and evenly distribute to each plant.
3. Next feeding Transplant as well, 1 oz for the whole mess.

You're gonna be fine.

re: Doc Bud - High Brix Q&A With Pictures

Sweet Doc.....good to hear and fingers crossed! The root ball was pretty strong and circling I wanted them to search for the new soil so I have kept them on the dry side before soaking them. I love that idea tho! Getting them really wet and letting the transplant water do its thing mixing in with that amount of water. I might have to check my transplant inventory lol.

Great to have a game plan and I will check back in Q&A after we see some results. I will be active in my journal as usual.

Not sure if you caught what I had mentioned in my rookie hypothesis but I theorize that in the 1 gal pots with roots circling they recieved the first dose of energy and recieved a good amount of N through intake. Add that since they were dry and devoured the energy the next day I gave them a dribbling of more energy compounding the problem. I know you said that I could have given them a double dose and I still should have not seen that effect but I wonder. Also they were flipped on the same day I fed them then 5 days later I pruned and topped them when I transplanted and they had every right to rebel.

I am wondering if the wild thai is a light feeder.

Thanks Doc!

Just wanted to say thanks for the tidbit on a water quality report. I've been wondering the exact makeup of my tap water for quite some time and have considered having it tested. I never thought to google water quality reports for my area. Turns out they release an annual one for my area lol. I'm not quite sure how to read my report exactly. Any chance you could take a look at it and tell me what you think?

Still trying to figure out the logistics of switching over to your system mid perpetual. I'm going to be flowering in a 4x4 tent. I know you recommend 7gal pots. How many would you grow in this space with these size pots or can I go smaller? Also, wondering if I would go straight from an aero cloner to the larger pot?

Thanks again for all you do Doc! Pics look amazing as usual :D

Yes! That strain is a very light feeder, which shouldn't be a problem in the kit.

You've got excellent water if that report is yours! I'd use tap water every time!

As for switching.....easy. Get a kit and bale of promix, cook it, grow with it, and halfway through bloom get another bale and kit and you're perpetual. Curso is a master at this. I suggest running this question by him, as he grows in tents AND runs a perpetual operation.

His skills with the kit are pretty awesome....

Mrbubbles87, I'm running a 4x4 perpetual, too, and converted on the fly to high brix. The link is in my signature.

Thanks for taking a look at it Doc. I thought it looked pretty good but I wasn't exactly sure what I was seeing lol. Would you recommend using ph down to get it from 8 to 7 or leaving it out / air bubbling for 24hrs first?

Also, sorry for not being more specific but I was asking more about transplanting. I think any2's journal may have answered this as I saw him go from 1gal to 7gal. I'm using an aero cloner and I wasn't sure if it would be best to put them directly in their final pot 7 gal pot or if I could go to a 3gal and then transplant to a 7gal. I guess the real question here is veg time with your system. Right now my perpetual idea is to veg clones for 2 weeks in my aero cloner after showing roots and then put them directly into flower. I don't think that's realistic with your system because it seems like its really geared towards larger plants whereas my current plan is more for small to medium sized plants. I'm thinking maybe 2-4 plants per 4x4 maybe under a SCROG but then were getting into the large plant vs small plant debate lol.

I'll check into more of curso's journals and see if I can get a better idea of how he runs a perpetual on a tent with your system.
