Doc Bud's High Brix Q&A With Pictures

Dutty, I tested 7 strains May 12th at the same time. Mainly to down-size. Analytical 360 emailed pdf's of the results. My printer/scanner are not working at the moment so I can't post them on this forum. But by googleing Analytical 360 and clicking test results last 60 days they can be found. I sent them through MMJ Universe Farmers Market.
I also can't PM you due to my lack of posts but would love to communicate with you. Doc's High Brix rocks up in the Northwest.

:) Valleybud, Docs HB rocks in Jamaica, Mexico, The Hamptons, the Bahamas too

Hi Doc

Morning to ya. Couple questions. I'm about to hit thirty days of cooking for your soil. I want to use clones for a 4 plant grow using your kit. Seven gallon pots. I have some clones going right now in a new bubble cloner and they are almost a week old. This morning I saw nubs, or what I believe will be the roots coming from the stems... hooray,, quick look but I think I'll get a few of the twelve.

They are all first node branches from known females.

Last night, I took five more clones, put in rooting powder, in solo cups filed halfway, and they are in soil. I think I followed a method I saw Graytail described.... anyway, they are from the same batch of females.

I have a Holy Grail Kush in a 1.7g pot and I think I'm going to take her top, stick it in a solo cup with your soil in it,,, and give it a go. That is one of my four plants in your kit.

I will then Flux the Holiness....

The next three plants for your kit/that grow will also be clones, tops of my two THC Bomb plants, and the top of a Sugar Black Rose. Again, I'm thinking I'll put them in solo cups with soil. I'm going to do this today, or tomorrow, but I'm thinking today cause all those plants need water and I hear you get good results if you cut to clone when they are thirsty. ???

Plus, I need to get going on your grow. Main reason ;)

So,, does that sound like s solid plan?

Dropping the tops of those four plants in solo cups filed halfway with your kit soil.

Would I use rooting powder, or something from your kit when I cut???

If these four in soil don't take I've got the bubble cloner ones as option B.

Thank you!!!:thanks::Namaste:

Ive tried putting cuts right in soil and none took. I use plugs with some general hydroponics rapid start and clonex then spray em every other day with 50% destress. Getting roots in 8/10 days without fail...just my $.02 :)

I had excellent success with my bubble cloner - EXCEPT the cutting taken from top of the plant. All the cuttings from the bottom/first node were ready to plant in under two weeks. The top never rooted successfully. I put the top in HB soil anyway and it stayed alive but after another two weeks I pulled it and there were still no roots. I'd stick with cuttings from the bottom/woody branches.

I still don't get fluxing. I understand you can get a big plant that way, but it slows the veg down so much, it seems like you could grow two crops in that amount of time and get even more yield. I must be missing something and need to study this technique more.

I prefer rooting in plugs. I tried the soil method successfully, but I prefer plugs. Others prefer soil. You're doing both, so i think success is assured!

Today is day 30 for my soil. I planted all six seeds in 1 gallons and right after I realized I forgot to apply roots so I dug them up and replanted them after adding the roots. The way my luck has been lately I probably messed them up somehow. lol

I placed a leaf and some roots on top of my cooking soil two days ago but nothing is happening yet except some moisture building up on the leaf so I am guessing a day or two more I should start seeing some fuzz. The temp has stayed above 70 degrees. How long does it usually take?

Mornin tlx9...with the fuzz...if ya don't get it ,no big deal...the soil will still work. With ALL my HB grows to date...not one batch of soil did that. It has alot to do with the temps in the area. Just leave the lid on it and as long as you keep it moist,it will be fine...just leave it be.

Thanks! I'm sure it will work great. It's kind of hard to screw up mixing the soil. I guess I just needed to be reassured because of the way my luck has been going lately. :wood:

It all depends....try moistening the area of soil the leaf is on.

You'll be fine on the germination as long as you were able to get Roots! in there. That's the most critical part of the germination process. Also, keep bright light on them and temps in the low/mid '70's, RH around 50-60% for your best chance of females.

If plant count is a concern, getting as much from one plant as possible is important. That said, I agree that it takes too much time and I will stick to topping, FIMing, and LST. Combined with separate veg and flower tents, I shouldn't have a problem harvesting every 2-3 months. With my first grow entering it's flowering stage, it's time to get some new clones started. I'm looking to grow a tent full of sativas next time, and I have access to a handful of strains:

  • Durban Poison
  • Blue Dream
  • Super Lemon Haze
  • Jack Herer Amnesia
  • Great White Shark

Any advice on which to choose? They will be grown in HB soil, so I value any advice you HB growers can give. Thanks.:thanks:

I wanted to kick myself when I realized I forgot the roots. I had it all planned out last night and was so excited (kind of like it was Christmas morning) that the soil was finally ready. Now I am just worried I didn't use enough roots. lol ....They are all female seeds but I wish they were regular seeds... 2x White Widow, 2x Super Lemon Haze, 2x Headband......I have a t5 3-4 inches above the 1 gallon pots. Once they get a couple sets of leaves I will place them under a 1000 watt MH. I would like to germinate them under the MH but when I do that they end up stretching too much because I can't keep them close enough to the light without the temps reaching 80 degrees.

I'm in a northern climate like Duggan's and I've never gotten the foggy fuzz in my bins, either. But I DO get decomposition mold, and lots of it! Leaves just disappear in 7-10 days. :cheesygrinsmiley: Boosting the soil temps into the mid-70s helps a bunch. And I have to be careful to keep it wet enough. You should have dew on the bottom of the lid whenever you lift it.

I have my soil cooking in my laundry room where my veg tent light is vented. They are in garbage cans and have the dolly with caster wheels on them so they are not on the basement floor. Sometimes when I open them they have moisture on bottom of lid and some heat coming from them and sometimes not. Think that has to do with the temp fluctuating? I have a 5x10 veg tent and only half of it is being used right now so I think what I will do next time is just store the cooking soil in the other half of the tent and maybe even throw a t5 above them for some extra warmth.

:passitleft:

my cooking soil doesn't seem to create much dew, if any at all so far. My temps range from 65 at the lowest to 82ish with 50-60 percent humidity. I added roughly 5 gallons of water to the soil. The bigger bin seems to be creating more moisture on the inside of the lid but my smaller bin isn't doing anything. I'm sure it will be fine, I just like to worry.

I would pick the GWS, personally.

Lemon Haze and BD tied for close 2nd.

I have done two blue dreams and SLH in HB. They all turned out great but the SLH was really something special :passitleft:

Edit found a pic of the SLH, she is currently in third for nug of the month, thanks all that voted :) Not to shabby for my first entry, much better than I expected to do thats for sure :high-five:

This is what the she looked like after a couple weeks in a jar.

 I started a couple Super Lemon Haze in HB soil. I Hope it ends up looking that good. It looks so tasty.

I think you will be very happy with the result :passitleft:

She was the easiest plant I have grown yet, I don't think she had a single issue, just looked perfect all the time. It took weeks before I stopped whining daily to the wife about not revegging that one and I still do from time to time
