Doc Bud's High Brix Q&A With Pictures

What kind of yield are you guys getting on average with the kit in 7 gallon pots?

I calculate 4 oz per plant for some, 3.5 oz per plant for other strains. I sometimes get upwards of 5 oz, and also as low as 3 oz. depending.

So while this is still on my mind do you have any tips or tricks to help a HiBrix plant finish or do you just know when to pick it seems like a few people have said their plants just wanted to keep growing well past the regular harvest window I know a lot has to do with strain and what each one likes and doesn't like

The High Brix plants need no help finishing. They'll keep right on growing many times. It's up to the grower when to harvest.

It's a different concept than "harvest with 5% amber." While I really like that and wish I could do that with High Brix plants, I can't. So I go based on appearance and how thirsty they are. I combine that with how convenient it is to harvest now as compared to next week or the week after.....and go from there.

I'm already on 11/13 lighting, which causes plants to finish, but it really doesn't matter much. They can get more resinous.

Dutty, I'm also using Doc's HB soil and I just had some strains tested May 12th at Analytical 360 in Seattle.Ewok was 28.69%, Black Cherry Soda was 27.82% and my ACDC 2 was 20.23% CBD.There site shows the last 60 day test results. These were grown on second run soil.I can't wait until the third

Could you post your cards in the strain test result thread I'd really appreciate that.

Hello everyone!
Doc,
I´ve got some questions regarding sexing and cloning. How did you manage those colombian red?
Here what I was dealing with today:

I now have 3 distinct phenotypes and 7/11 females of the Colombian Punto Rojo. Everything is marked and clones of each pheno are segregated. I'll decide which of the three to keep based on how the 4 in bloom turn out. One is already a week in....these go in today. Here they are:

Do you sex the plants before taking clones? Or is it the standard sexing the clones method?
I´m trying not to do stupid questions but I couldn´t figure it out just by reading the colombian´s posts.

I appreciate :thumb:

Cheerz!

I veg them until I can identify pre-flowers. Males are tossed when discovered, females are marked letters A through D, E, F....however many I get. First to show flowers is identified, as well as last.

Cuttings are taken, all of them are bloomed, and I decide which pheno's to keep based on that.

Thank you sir!
I´m not too experienced in cloning but I think this method is the right for me to manage unknown genetics in a limited space :thanks:

FYI, depending on what you're growing IE Inbred Line/Landrace vs. your own F1 cross, you'll want to germinate at least 12-20 seeds to have a shot at getting all the pheno's.

This is the most important part, because sometimes the magic is found in the 1 most recessive phenotype that shows up 1 in 18, or something like that. Stable landrace/IBL strains will have far fewer pheno's but I still managed to find 3 or 4 distinct ones in the Punta Roja. As they grow, it appears that I've got 3 distinct pheno's.

Dutty, I tested 7 strains May 12th at the same time. Mainly to down-size. Analytical 360 emailed pdf's of the results. My printer/scanner are not working at the moment so I can't post them on this forum. But by googleing Analytical 360 and clicking test results last 60 days they can be found. I sent them through MMJ Universe Farmers Market.
I also can't PM you due to my lack of posts but would love to communicate with you. Doc's High Brix rocks up in the Northwest.

In general it looks like that Dutch Treat has some great THC numbers. I would like to know how I can get some of that here in Colorado. Greener Today has some serious meds Platinum Delight at 36+% It is nice to dream of being able to do something like that someday. Thanks valleybudd for that info. Almost as good as bud porn :)
