Doc Bud's High Brix Q&A With Pictures

re: Doc Bud - High Brix Q&A With Pictures

Took a few pics today.

C99....probably a week. Supposedly, this strain is done in 60 days or less. Well I'm on week 10, I must be doing something wrong...

The C99 looks really nice, Doc!

You'll have to give us a smoke report on that. It might be a lot more interesting when it's grown high brix.

re: Doc Bud - High Brix Q&A With Pictures

doc,

after many re-reads, i noticed you didnt give much of a time table as to how long between using energy or transplant. i see you give a food/water schedule "in the lab". you give, for example, a schedule like: transplant water water energy water transplant. is that a weekly schedule? transplant on first day of week, then water only for that week and two weeks after? im in a 5 gallon fabric pot outdoors, so i water every other day pretty much, that would be a lot of waterings between feedings.

should i be doing weekly feedings or once every other week, or even longer? trying to do it as it look like she needs it, but i still wonder whats correct. so far ive been doing a slightly reduced feeding every 7-10 days.

thanks doc!

:hmmm:

I have a cut labeled Pineapple Express that is supposed to be C99 Pineapple phenotype crossed with Trainwreck. Maybe that could be the reason for your nostalgia?

re: Doc Bud - High Brix Q&A With Pictures

Same here. Difference in quality is easily noticed. Thanks doc, nobody I know washes their buds! And I tell them about the wash technique and they think I'm crazy. But then I turn them onto a washed nug and its like "damn that shit is smooth!" And I'm all, "bud wash! Not even cured yet - just awesome after wash and dry! Try it!"

Haha so sick. Love it!
Hi Doc, I tried to find the info about this in your posts but having a hard time, all your posts have so many pages, do you know off hand what pg I can see this info on, or can you send me a link? Thanks for your help.
:thankyou:

Try the "In the Lab" Thread. It's the same thread as the directions at the bottom of my signature. You'll find it a few pages back from the directions I think. It's easy:

3 buckets....I like one to be white, but it makes no difference.

Mix 1 cup lemon juice and 1 1/2 cups baking soda into 5 gallons of RO in the white bucket.
Fill the next two buckets with straight RO.

Harvest the plant, pull off fan leave and large leaves, keep sugar leaves intact on the buds. Cut into manageble cola's...hooks for hanging, whatever your preference.

Dip buds under the lemonjuice/baking soda bucket and gently agitate up and down, back and forth, etc for 30 seconds.
Do the same in the next two bucket.....hang and dry.

The manicure trim will yield washed, pristine trim.....PERFECT for rolling joints or making hash. The buds are really nice and the flavor is un-matched.

Try feeding every other time you water. F,W,F,W. See how that works. Then, try F,WW,F,WW. If you have to water everyday, you're so rootbound it really doesn't matter too much.

I recommend NO SMALLER than a 5 gallon fabric pot indoors.....you're outdoors....yikes. I don't think it's gonna work too well.

Ok doc ill try increasing how often I feed. I don't get 12 full hours of sun, more like 8-10 direct hours. She looks pretty unreal to me so far at day 12 of bloom.. ill take more pics..

re: Doc Bud - High Brix Q&A With Pictures

Wow Doc, I just saw those pics of the C99. Those look scary frosty. If you get some time could you show me something? I'd like to see some plants in your garden that dont look so good. A few weeks ago you had mentioned you had some that were underperforming. I was just curious as to what you were seeing and what you considered underperforming.

I noticed (as did you) some strains just respond different to high brix growing. I just culled some liberty hazes. Dull leaves, green but nothing special. Those were right next to a strain called Tikal. The Tikals are super happy, lime green, and frosty already. It seems real obvious what plants are extra happy and what ones are ok.

re: Doc Bud - High Brix Q&A With Pictures

I don't have too many plants in the garden that don't look good. Those that don't get culled! I cullled half the c99 a few weeks ago. In hindsight, I might have waited. But the turned on the frost in the last two weeks.

I see no reason to keep underperforming plants around.

It seems its a hard lesson for a lot of people including me. Im getting better at it.

IMO, the worst thing you can do is name your plants! You don't want to personalize them.....you want to fatten them up and harvest! No regrets! That's what plants are for.....they're not pets.

Sometimes, I'll plant 8 identical clones....and one of the eight will look ugly and horrible. Tossed! I don't try to nurse 'em back to health if I have more ready.

I've already culled the Cherry Pie from my rotation, and it looks like I might do away with the GSC if it doesn't shape up. Tahoe OG too. I've got a better OG, and the GSC underperforms when compared to the expectation I have from the genetics.

SFV OG is far better.....

Here are my current players:

Lemon Paki
Champagne (100% thai sativa) There are two phenos.
Herijuana
OG....one variety or another
A "new" or "visiting" strain: IE Jack H. GSC, C99, etc. I like to try something new every now and then. I have so many danged seeds and so many strains to choose from.....lucky for sure.

re: Doc Bud - High Brix Q&A With Pictures

Took some pics.

C99 is coming down a week from today. It's really frosting up in a pleasing manner. 2 weeks past the breeder's "due date" and not a cloudy triche to be found. Because c99 is such a frankenstrain, confusing Sativa effects with Indica growth structure.....I think the High Brix program has brought out the Sativa traits to an extreme.

Why can't I convince people to buy buds that look like this?

All you have to do is trim them a bit and they look like this:

Plus, you get all that nice material to roll joints!

Hey Doc, was wondering if you have any photo's of the Cherry Pie and the GSC or if you have already posted some that I missed. I currently am running both these strains, as well as the SFV OG you mentioned, but I was curious what yours looked like in comparison to mine. The GSC I am running is frosty as all hell for being in the day 35 range, but the buds are tiny little things for as far along as it is. I was just curious if yours looked similar. My Cherry Pie on the other hand couldn't look better and is frosty and full. I just wanted to compare to see what yours looked like vs what mine are at.

After writing you that, I guessed you were going to say this. If they are underperforming, they probably wouldnt be around to take pics. You taught me a bunch Doc. Thank you.

The comment on naming plants made me laugh Doc! I used to get pretty wound up about plants that were unhealthy and I was of the mindset to nurse them back to health. Now, I guess I care less and have a lot less attachment to individual plants. It took me a while to learn that one.

Is the white residue on the sugar leaves of the C99 the new PM/Insect spray? I noticed it in a couple pics, but it might be my imagination. Any pics on that crazy columbian? Is she still around?
