Doc Bud's High Brix Q&A With Pictures

re: Doc Bud - High Brix Q&A With Pictures

Tav....check your AC unit will ya....500/600 sounds a little low ,unless it's just a real small unit. Most of those units draw nearly a full circuit all by themselves. That's the main reason I switched to L.E.D.....no heat issues and no extra cooling needed.Anyhow Tav...two circuits will be lots for your needs....and it will be safe!

re: Doc Bud - High Brix Q&A With Pictures

Hey Doc....you wouldn't believe some of the things I've seen people do over the yrs. One guy wired his whole basement with speaker wire....really? how can anyone be so daft? I like that you got someone to look after your wiring needs bro...feels good eh....when ya know your rooms are safe. I'm hoping with the big inrush of LED's grow room fires won't be so much in the news. A lot of those fires start when a circuit is very close to being overloaded and there is a bad joint or a loose neutral somewhere in the circuit.Another reason is people don't seem to care about "open air joints" in there wiring ....not good! The only time you should do that is when the voltage is "low" like a doorbell circuit (24v).These wiring joints can be made anywhere and be safe cuz of the low voltage. All other electrical joints have to be in a proper junction box with a cover on it just in case of fire ....it will be contained "in" the box and not burn down your house!Sorry for rambling guys. Cheers!

re: Doc Bud - High Brix Q&A With Pictures

Hello there,
I´m leaning to start seeds on 12/12 once the soil is cooked, instead of starting to veg in non-HB soil(before transplanting to HB soil) as I had planned it earlier. This will be far less stressful and the gals will enjoy the benefits of HB from start to finish :)
I would appreciate some thoughts on a couple of doubts about 12/12 from seed.
Do you transplant or use the definite container from beginning to end (in my case 7gal smarties)?
What feeding schedule do you use? You treat the plant as if it was vegging until it starts to show pre-flowers(~25 days)? Do you apply Energy during this veg period?
I take it you certainly don´t Recharge.

I did experiment a bit with some bagweed seedlings. They tend to root vigorously and fast compared to vegging seedlings.

Thank you again :thanks:

Great idea, and great questions.

Treat them like they're in veg until they are obviously under the influence of bloom hormones, IE stretching, alternating nodes, rapid growth. Give them Transplant upon putting the seeds in the pots, use Growth Energy through Veg, another dose of Transplant when bloom commences and DEFINITELY re-charge them about 3-4 weeks after it's obvious they're in bloom.

The Re-charge has as much to do with the next run of soil as it does supporting what's already growing.

I'd start them in their final containers, make sure the soil is MOIST, not wet, and water the seed in with 1 pint or so of Transplant drench. (1/2 oz per gallon will work for your purposes)

FWIW, I LOVE 12/12 from seed except for males. I often start them in 1 gallon pots....sex/kill males, transplant females into finals. If you have femmed seeds, just be on the lookout for balls!

Thank you so much! I´ve seen gorgeus 12/12 from seed, I´ve been wanting to give it a try for quite some time and whats better than HB...
I´m using femmed seeds so I will start in their final containers. Will be on the lookout for ponies :lot-o-toke:

Hey Doc, Just wanted to share my results so far with you and the gang, hope you don't mind. After making several newb mistakes my plushberry test bud that I took five days ago was some of the best smoke I have ever had and its not even finished yet. What everyone says about high brix bud not having a ceiling couldn't be more true. The first little bowl got me as medicated as the dispensary buds do no matter how much of them I smoke. In the next couple hours I had a couple more bowls and just kept getting more and more retarded the more I smoked :thumb: I think I am going to chop the plushberry this weekend or next and the amazonias will need a couple more weeks at least I think. I love that I can read something you tell us to do and not spend hours cross researching it to make sure its valid. Having a teacher like you that you can trust is huge, thanks so much! I know these wouldn't be anywhere near this good without your kit! Here are a couple bud shots from last night. Plants are half way through week 9 since flip.

Bro that is some extra fine cannabis you grew there, I'd be pretty proud of that if I were you.

Man its so good to see other peoples success!!!

See just another in a long line of people having fantastic, repeatable results brought to us only by Doc's kit.

Thank you, I can't think of any other club I would rather be a part of :circle-of-love:

Ya eh Smokey! Lots a good stuff...lots a decent folk. Hey Doc bud....calling Doc bud...bro,my basement's fillin up with these big f'n. tote bins!:hmmmm: What could be in them?:blunt:Curs(the chef) It's partly your fault dude! I've decided to do a "third run " on this present batch .Now i've got lots goin on ...some bins are alot of roots ,leaves and stems w/roots ,of course. That stuff is gonna be the ticket. It sure doesn't take long for it all to vanish ,pretty cool stuff! What a hoot last night Curs....you and Ziggy had me howling dude, with your stories of "treats" and good times. Is there a 3rd. run amendment yet doc? Curs...how would you treat the 2nd run to get it ready for ,"a third"? Anything you guys have found out in the last little while...say might help! I added 1 small bag of promix, ewc and the 2nd amendment going into the 3rd run. However, that was really before I started applying the green mulch technique. So I would check the soil after everything is all gone and just do a little bit of quality control on the soil, clumping, fluffiness that general good stuff we look for in our soil. Before adding the bag of promix. The EWC never hurts anything, the 2nd amendment I would add as its cooking into the 3rd run.

I loved what I saw after my first run with 100% of the plant in the soil. I think you are going to be even more amazed then you already are. It's amazing when the plant is happy for 100% of the grow. Not that they aren't happy just in the kit soil, they are just extra happy to have that soil humming their tune....

Sounds good! Yep, I've got a 3rd run amendment. You'll want it after this one.

re: Doc Bud - High Brix Q&A With Pictures

Hey Doc, I've been thinking about your long flowering sativa issues and found some links I thought I would share. The first is an interview by Jon Frank of Mr Lynn Hoag, who uses the Ellen White Fruit Tree Planting Method.

Audio Downloads - Free Downloads | HighBrix Gardens - click the link in the middle of the page "Fruit Trees On Steroids"

This method involves digging a hole, roughly 3' x 3' deep. At the bottom, either drainage tile or a drain pipe is lain to aid in transportation of oxygen to the roots. Then, a 1 foot layer of "rich soil" is compacted down, on top of which a layer of rocks is laid. This is apparently an integral part of the process. Lynn admits to not knowing the why behind it mattering, other than saying that it affects the electric charge of the soil.

About the "rich soil" they mention using. Although they are growing with the interest of high brix, what would you think about using your high brix mix with this method? The next layer of soil, 1 foot deep, they mention to use is "plain soil" which I would equate to plain Pro Mix. Then a third layer, also 1 foot deep, is "rich soil" again, or high brix mix. On top of this they mention to use a 1" layer of compost, as an alternative I was thinking worm castings would work. Then there is a 3" layer of leaf mulch, which I think we all can provide. Even if it is leaf mulch from the yard, that would suffice. On top of this, 250-500 worm are added.

Although the diagram in the pdf shows a layer of rocks on top of the layer of leaf mulch, Lynn only uses this for cosmetics, as the leaf mulch gets eaten by the worms and needs to be replaced about every 6 months. A grow season for a long flowering sativa is almost approaching that, all depending on the strain.

Here is the second link, it is the method that Lynn Hoag is talking about, the Ellen White Tree Planting Method.

I hope you found this information at least entertaining, perhaps even beneficial. I believe you would be able to pull something like this off quite well.

What are your thoughts?

Thanks Curso and everyone else! It really is all in the kit. I made several newb mistakes with these and they still turned much better then I was even hoping for. I couldn't be anymore happy with them.
