Doc Bud's High Brix Q&A With Pictures

re: Doc Bud - High Brix Q&A With Pictures

I really like the look of your plants, Duggan, especially the way you trained them. Great work! :thumb:

Thanks Gray! Ya ...a lot of lst and supercropping early on to get them to branch like this. Going for high yield to go along with the high brix quality!Hoping for around 10/12 z's with the extra veg time and 10.5 gal pots.I really noticed the stalks got a lot bigger this time compared to 7 gal.I also added the recharge earlier this time to hopefully avoid any issues later in bloom. With the new led's ,they hardly stretched at all with internodes also closer together this time. Thanks Doc once again for letting me post my pics!Cheers everyone!

re: Doc Bud - High Brix Q&A With Pictures

I wish I could post my 100% Indica Double Glock. She is looking so awesome with dark leafs, no deficiencies. Around 3ft, just put your arms out wide. I was thinking of just putting another 5 gal smart pot under the girls for bloom, then I got to wondering if I did, how all the cat drenches would do. They would have to be feed from the top then just let the roots work their way down for later watering. Bid has done this before with good results. Just don't know how long it will take for the roots to make it into the bottom pot. Doc if one was to just place another pot under at say 3 week's before going 12/12. Long veg I know but this is Big Bertha, topped, fimmed, so many tops. Close to 36 Tops on her then just feed from the bottom like Curso did awhile back. This has me thinking of doing a passive hydro like a Earth Box. I would be using the black mixing tubs with plywood over the top and a bunch of small holes drilled into the plywood for roots to make it into the water below with a couple air stones, no need to water for maybe 5-6 days .

Hey Doc,
How would a 12/12 from seed regime work with a high brix grow? I am not concerned with yield so much as quality. My high brix soil has about 15 more days before it is ready. Will the plants be able to reach their genetic potential with a smaller root mass?

Thanks

Seed grows work great in HB. Start them in 2 gallons, cull the males, and transplant into 7's and you'll be good to go! The root mass is limited by the container size, not the length of veg time. The entire 7 gallons will be full of fine root hairs, 12/12 or not. It makes no difference.

A few more pics. Everything in bloom is represented here. I think the Willie Nelson is going to make it this time!

You're right......about 9 more weeks! The pot is going to be big enough and I've got plans to make sure it works. I'm decreasing the daylight period by 15 minutes a week now. That should help it finish. I'm also going to pollenate a single lower bud.

I did this one in the greenhouse a couple years ago and it was GREAT smoke. This one looks much better.

re: Doc Bud - High Brix Q&A With Pictures

Your plans with the Photoperiod will help somewhat... seeding a lower branch will make her finish earlier...but not by much.Where will the pollen come from Doc? Very interested in this ,for sure! Say it's L.P. and i'm gonna come get some:) How will you change ,if at all with the foliar 's? When these pure ,or close, sativa's bloom the bud to leaf ratio is so high that they just stop developing in favour of pistol clusters .Yee haw:) Will you drop the R.H. later in bloom for her? What exactly will you give her later? Sorry for all the Q'S ,but i know how challenging these Sat.'s are to grow indoors ,under lights,in a pot. It sounds like W.N. is not quite so long at around 13/14 weeks? It would be nice to have an area just for one, just one pure "Haze" In bloom for almost half a year!Great stuff ! Cheers!

Indoor sativa's....kind of like surfing Mavericks except not quite as potentially deadly. Still, it's hard to do and there's not many that can do it well. I'm still 1 for 3 on these exotic 100% Sativa's. Willie Nelson and Colombian Gold have both kicked my ass in the past, but I've got Champagne down pat. Nelson has strong Vietnamese genes and also Nepalese Highland, so it will finish a bit faster than the Colombian. I think this one is going to work. It smells like papaya. It's amazing.

I'll pollinate it with anything I can get. I'm not interested in doing a cross, I just don't want it to hermie. Seeding it up helps with that.

I've been topdressing with what I call "Rescue Soil." I've taken Curso's method of soil recycling and slightly modified it thus:

Put used soil and all trimmings, prunings, root balls, any and all healthy plant material, liberally coated with Roots into a Rubbermaid, along with maybe 20% virgin Promix....wet it down and let it cook.

Add soil and trimmings and Roots along the way, etc.

This stuff is making large leaves disappear in 5 days, stems in 10. It's alive like none other I've used before, and it's mainly eating minerals and the leaf matter, leaving the soil with a lovely tuned humus content.

I put an inch or so on the top of the pot whenever the soil level drops. I think it really helps keep the mineral levels up. Hopefully, this will keep that Willie Nelson thriving. I'd use a larger pot, but the plant would get too large. This should do the trick.

Heheh, mine does that - the soil is even a little warmer than the ambient air. I've been recycling all through the year, rotating between tubs of cooked and still cooking soil. I haven't added any additional ProMix yet - instead I've been adding a half pound of EWC per gallon of soil I toss back, along with a charge of amendment and Roots. I toss all the old fans and trimmings in there and they just disappear. :laughtwo: Smells Great!

Very cool doc. I've been wondering how to use this lovely stuff! Just a bit of promix, lots and lots of leaves in there, just put the last bunch in there a couple days ago, already getting gobbled up!

How about a docbud pollination lesson please sir! Like optimum time, technique and method of pollen dispersal? Im sure there are several here who wonder the same. Id really appreciate it!
