Doc Bud's High Brix Q&A With Pictures

Good morning gang.I never dunk ...so ya Amy , my method doesnt work for those growers. I have only top watered and just let the run off get sucked back up into the pots.I like my method...its simple ,fast and it works ok!
I cant afford to use more product for dunking and dont wanna spend that extra time messin around either.
Yes....about the bottles/labels....i never look at them....sorry.....Cheers gang

As mentioned earlier, I'm pretty much doing the 15ml per gallon of water, even in the 1's (not exactly but close.) I talked with Duggan offline, he's been one of my main mentors since I got into Brix, thanks brother! I told him that I may try his method next time and ditch the dunking to see how it works for me.

I think the per soil method is good especially if your plants feed at different rates, so the bottles say .5-1ml per gallon of soil but many of us have upped that to 1-2ml and Doc approved that, he always says to drench on the high side if anything. If you look at duggans method, it is on the high side and those feeding on the high side are turning out some frosty monsters.

So you have some options. We're here to help.

Also wanted to mention that I started with the per soil method because the site directions with 5 gallons of water (1-3 oz of drench) was confusing to calculate because I never grew a full kit at first, now I do sometimes with 3 #15's but not always, right now I have 2 #15's and 1 #7. So many growers have different sized pots and different # of plants.

Wow thats amazing, The time limit on viability would be an issue for me. Chances to hit are better than
the track odds :high-five:

If you keep them in cool place, they'll last 15-20 years. I found some of my old beans from 80's, I gave them to a buddy and he got 80%+ germ rates. And they were in an attic for 30 years, hot and cold temps lol

I'll just use leftover sink water and give to flower plants, so I don't waste anything. But then I'll top feed sometimes too instead of dunking. I do everything on the fly, but my plants like it lol

Yup I appreciate your style and it works GREAT. Me on the other hand am a TWEAKER, no not meth
I have a need to tweak things towards an attempt to find the PERFECT spot. Just the different ways our
brains are connected I superpose.

NOT better or worse but this is the way I find the joy in it, seeing improvement. The only way I can
improve DOCs kit is with precise measurements and watching what happens.

Yup ...beauty of this method...everyone can adjust and find their own comfort zone, so to speak.
Good on ya Gazoo....keep on being you my friend!:roorrip:....:roorrip:

I find that I like easy simple ways to do things, that are learned by detailed, time consuming experiments or studies.

When you find something that works, it’s great to put it on cruise control, so you can focus on other areas that need your attention in life. However, I do enjoy “proving” things in the garden from time to time. It’s one of the ways I learn, and allows me to sift through hearsay. I subscribe to Gazoo’s rationale, where I thrive on finding improvement. I just don’t have the time to continually seek it. So it comes in spurts. It is actually how I found Doc and all of you, by continually seeking a better way. I think Docs kit is the best out there both in quality and pricing, and is adaptable to many styles that we see each of us documenting right here.

Whether you want to cruise or tinker, it’s a great support group to be a part of, and I thank all of you!

All this watering talk has me very intrigued, and I find myself asking “what do the plants like?” I might have to explore this a bit.

Just another reason i like this place so much,...members like you DL...well said my friend.
What i like is...we're all "on the same page". We all share the same passion, going about things as we want , with a common goal. A near perfect society...ha!

Just need to resist the temptation to Burn the Witches

Ah......another round of dosing mysticism I see. :)

We've gone round and round on this....changed the directions several times as a result even.

The directions on the bottle are going to line up with the directions given elsewhere. In the beginning we said "1-3 ounces per five gallons of water." That's still the proper amount, but so many people weren't able to do the math and wanted it listed this way, that way, and other ways......

From now on, we're going to let people do the math again if they wish.

me? I don't measure anything. I pour right from a gallon jug into a bucket. Get to the point where you don't need a shotglass. do this by paying attention to the noise, color and plume made when adding measured drenches, and pretty soon you can just pour out a "plop" of whatever and get it right.

This would be one of the times to not want Gazoo's gift. I wish I could be more detailed and record things to look back on. I have a hard time with it I will admit.

Y does it have to be doubled if dunking? but not doubled if watering from the top Im guessing?
You double the drench strength while dunking because not everything will stay in the pot. When you top water you can give precise amounts because it is going to stay in that one pot. When you dunk you double so that when you drain the excess moisture out over the bucket you will get the same amount of feed for the soil and soil biota to stay in the pot as you would top watering. The magic of dunking comes from the oxygen exchange that occurs in the root zone.

That’s exactly the logic that lead me to dunking in straight water, thus getting the benefits of oxygenization, then after draining, I pour the drench from the top mixed into just enough water to spread it out. At least that’s the theory.

Ic well i kinda been doing it both ways at once then i guess lol. I put them in a dunk state at like halfway submerged but also put alil in the top to suck in. I love hearing it go pop poppopop lol.

Oh also i almost forgot. Today i took 2 milk jugs cut the tops off and planted like 20 pepper seeds in hb soil. 10 in each jug 2 see how many will get going. Then as they grow up will transplant into seperate bigger pots an so on but i plan to have some mini pepper plants im in hopes of 10 an jus keeping them shorter or do u think i should go with less amd jus bigger??
