DobeWan's Perpetual Adventure 2.0: The Reboot

Honestly it’s hard to pick a favourite. Pink is awesome medically, GC and Chemdawg are awesome recreationally too, and Tuna is a total wildcard, I’ve never even tasted it. I’m going to hold out on picking a favourite myself and see what sways me.

Early advantage goes to Chemdawg which is already showing taproot! I’d better get some solo cups prepped tonight.

Here's how things are looking tonight when I open the tent...

Starting back left is Liberty Haze, back right is Violator Kush, front right is Amnesia x OG and front left is Royal Gorilla.

Also got these into solo cups...

It's probably a little tough to see, but the Chemdawg seedling's taproot was broken but still attached at the very tip when I opened the paper towel. I'd guess the bottom 10% of the taproot was snapped but still attached. It must have grown into the paper towel slightly and snapped either on its own or when I opened the paper towel. This is a sound theory - why? Because Green Crack grew into the paper towel. I cut a tiny square out and just planted the whole thing. I figured that was safer than trying to get it out.

I hope the Chem's growth isn't too badly affected. I know damage to the taproot can dwarf a plant. At least the extent of the damage was small.

I've seen the plants do some interesting things in my time growing so far, so I'm not going to sweat it.

I'm also thinking of culling my White Widow. New growth continues to have issues, and it has never been a normal, healthy plant. I have nowhere to flower it since I committed to using both of my LEDs in flower for the 4 I have going. I don't want it to take space away from the 4 I have in flower either. I don't want to give up T5s from my new seedlings for a flower cycle, and I don't want to buy a new light. I don't think it's worth it to continue to feed it with no view to flowering it. I have a bunch of additional seeds, so I can always come back to it when I have room.

*You are certainly a man who knows what he doesn't want, which in turn allows you to follow your grower's instinct. Use the force, Dobewan...;)

Did you play soccer on the weekend? Putting a jersey on when you have your back scraped up is like rubbing sand paper over a burn, or slide tackling on turf.
Baby Jesus OUCH! ;)

Oh and the title "reboot" thought was clever about your starting to play again. :thumb:

I didn't actually play last week. More so than my back, my foot was hurting badly right at the contact point for most kicks and tackles. And I play D so no doubt I'd have had a 50/50 ball or two that would have just killed. So I thought i was better to take a week off. I play tomorrow though!

Hey DW! That sucks when you have to kill a plant! Can't you just put it in a window or something?

I could I guess, but then I have a big flowering plant in my window, and I'd have to feed nute solution daily anyway (since it's in coco), so it seems like more trouble than it's worth. It feels like cutting my losses is my best bet. But I watered it last night so it's fair to say I haven't made a final decision yet.

That tent is looking awesome. That is going to be a big bunch of bud in a few months.

Thanks for this, JM. I started a reply when you posted this last night but got distracted and didn't come back to it.

The gist was that I'm really happy with where things are, and really excited to see what happens in flower, given that this is the best stuff I've grown yet. I went back through the photos from my previous grows to compare where they are at this point, and that's when I forgot to finish my reply. Here's what I found - I thought you guys might be interested to see where I was at this point in previous grows.

This was the first set I grew. I really didn't know what I was doing and did a comically poor job in retrospect with defoliation, relative to what I do these days. These got 50 days in veg. They stretched significantly in the next few days after this point. This is 4F.

Considering how good 24K Gold (left side) looked despite my many rookie mistakes, these shots really make me want to grow more.

This was the second set I grew and last that I flowered. These had 64 days in veg. I spent a lot of time manipulating the plants in weird ways to see how they would respond. I started to dabble with Ase's nutrient ideas in flower, saw results, and adopted them for my next set in veg, which was the culled set. This is 4F.

This was the culled set. These got 63 days in veg and were monsters going into flower. This was the veg that allowed me to test out everything I had learned and although I still made mistakes, the plants were ready to kill it in flower. This is them 2 days before flip.

And this is them at 3F.

Sigh, what could have been...

I'm growing 2 of the 4 plants again, and the new additions are great, especially Liberty Haze. Here's the 4F shot I posted yesterday for comparison to the others above. They aren't as tall as the last 2 grows, but the canopy is way better way earlier. And I did 2 weeks less of the veg time than the last couple of grows and still feel like they're absolutely ready.

Looks good dobe. You got a nice canopy going there. I always go back to previous pics to compare.

Me too - I feel like it has helped me a lot, even if it's only acting to reassure me that things are going well. I label mine in the file name for quick reference so it was easy to track down the equivalent shots from previous grows.

To me 2017 was all about making progress, and these pics definitely show me how I have progressed.

Itibiti i bet youll get the same yield from 4 plants instead of cramming 6 in there.. theyll have more room to grow and thank ya for it. They look ready to flip dobe, it's prime time. Those are gonna be some big gals, you are gonna have a little mess on your hands once they stretch lol. Keep that training on lock like ya do. Love the previous grow compared to this one.. gonna kick some serious butt this time man dont sweat it! ....

I’m with toast, iti. 4 is the sweet spot for me.

Thanks toast, I’m really excited about this! Feels like I’ve hit a point in my training skills that I can get what I want, so now we see if my desired structure is the right one for me. I have high hopes that it is!

Damaged taproot? Someone forgot to mention it to Chemdawg, apparently - that's her in the front, first to sprout!

The other one above ground, to her left, is Green Crack. Those HSO seeds are off to a fantastic start!

Congrats on the new babies Dobe. A few more days and I'm sure you'll be tugging and trimming on them.

Dobe is a master, he is now experimenting with trimming the tap roots.

Just call me DobeWan Miyagi, I guess?

Here's how we're looking tonight at lights on in the flower tent. Last day of week 1 of flower and I'm very pleased with where things are.

In the veg tent, all 4 seedlings had popped up but only 3 had spread their wings. Pink Kush was locked in her shell as tightly as any seedling I've had. I tried droplets of water on the shell this morning and tonight with no luck. I ended up using a box cutter to get it split a little better then used tweezers to get it off. I hope I didn't do any damage.

The other 3 babies look great.

I'll be aiming to do a big photo update to kick off week 2 of flower tomorrow.
