Alright - back in business.
Here's what I came home to today...
Clockwise, starting at back right, that's Liberty Haze, Amnesia x OG, Royal Gorilla, and Violator Kush in the back left corner. Not bad, considering they'd essentially been neglected since Sunday. I was too sore to do anything but water Sunday and Monday and was away last night.
Here's Amnesia x OG, after I propped up the bad stem (background), which was hanging loosely after the tape had loosened with the warmth of the tent and weight of the branch.
This was the first time I properly assessed the Amnesia x OG damage. She was taped quickly to save what I could on Sunday night, so I didn't really get to look at things with a clear head and view to figure out where we'd go.
I took off the tape and the damage was as I remembered - the stem was almost entirely taken off, but somehow managed to hang on by a thread of the bark at the very bottom of the knob of the node.
I didn't dare try to get a better shot, but from top down, the knob of the stem looked completely off. I can't believe it survived.
With all of the tape out of the way, I retaped it. Early in veg I'm really careful when taping anything damaged to not tape too tightly and damage the delicate stems. At this point, the stems close to the base are hard and woody, so I put the tape on fairly tightly, more concerned with ensuring it couldn't possibly move at this point.
You can easily see the other associated damage in this shot - in both the foreground and background. My hand must have come down hard on the stem that cracked, and then my fingers took out about half of the 1st node growth on the quadline - both the foreground and background quadline stems are missing one of their 1st node tops.
Once I was happy with the tape job, I re-applied the training to the branch. I took this very slowly to be safe.
I then did some defol, perhaps a little more than I intended, as I took very little off of the other plants. But she has clearly dropped behind the pack, and her dense tops blocked a lot of light, so I thought an extra defol might be a risky move to get her to get more tops to the canopy before flower starts. The other plants' canopies are dense with tops, and I'd love to get AxOG back along those lines.
Here they all are after training and defol. Liberty Haze (front left) and Violator Kush (back right) got just a little defol, mostly training, and Royal Gorilla (front right) got almost no defol or training. RG has really come on lately - not huge in size, but structured very nicely at this point. She really responded in that respect to the last round of training and defol.
Thanks for following along guys. I'll probably get some smaller photo updates up tomorrow or Friday, and I'll aim to get a big photo update of all of the plants up on Saturday as I flip to flower!
