Thanks Lady Antheia! Hope all is well in your neck of the woods. Sucks about the dudes barging into your tent but by the time you get the ladies harvested you'll have more waiting in the wings!

I know my dad has some old 70s High Times magazines with great photos of some of the old strains. I'll have to get him to dig them out the next time I visit! I'm really hoping I can make some good hash from this grow and if I do, Christmas shopping for my dad is going to be quicker than ever!

I scheduled lights off during my work day for this very reason! I put my son to bed, and by the time I get down to check on the tent the lights are on. It's torture on the weekend though, knowing from 8-8 I can't touch. It'll be mitigated somewhat as my veg tent progresses. I can putter around in there until lights out at 2. My flower tent is a better name and does a good job of preventing light bleed with the lights on in the room.

I hope I don't regret my timing later in flower. Luckily I'm a night owl!

First of all, subbed. :lot-o-toke:

Second of all, it was cool to hear of your 420 ties with your dad. I have similar ties with my dad and uncle.

Third, and, most importantly, glad I made it in just after flip, the plants are looking strong. Those are the plants you're looking for...:bigtoke:

They are looking great! you should have that tent bulging in no time!:woohoo:

Mine gals are bushing out again, it seems that that leaf salad bowl trimming has allowed the undergrowth to explode...they are bushier than they were before I got wild with snipping leaves!

I do like the scrog as I can arrange the taller branches to one side or another and keep moving them to the center or a open spot to allow the lower branches to grow up to the screen...more exciting times although no white hairs yet, but that will happen in the near future.

Just about lights out so got to wish them a goodnight!:thumb:

Ha! Well crafted.

Glad to have you on board here - can't wait to see how our plants turn out!

I think I'm going to have to do SCROG next time with the Chocolope, plus I want to learn it by trying. I haven't been doing anything really in the way of training since my flip - I guess part of it is that I wanted a break from it, part of it is that I have the canopies on the 3 topped plants in decent shape, and part of it is that I have nowhere else to go to the sides.

I'm tempted to trim some older fan leaves on LA1 but I've stayed so hands off with it. I just feel like the lower bud sites have such a better chance with more light. Decisions...

Once their well into flower ill take fans that are blocking light, mainly fans that grow towards the center of the plant can be trimmed then i leave the fans growing towards the outside of the plant are left alone.

Here is a quick update on my end...3 of the 6 gals are showing their stuff:yahoo:

As you can see in this picture the Purple Kush gals are a vigorous strain, they will be a interesting bunch to control, I have one plant that is showing 18 potential bud sites alone (far right corner) and the 3 are showing 53 potential sites as far as I can count above or just below the scrog net (right side),,,there are more below those that I have been trying to get light to, I raised my light to 36" above to try and encourage more stretch.

The Widows are a little more reserved as far as growth at this stage, I noticed that they seem to push growth to the tallest stem more than the Kush gals but also grow lots of small growth along the other stems so I have been pinching lots of small leaves to allow more light to the lower sites.

Here is the one I counted 18 sites on

Clonex is here and this next week its clone time...planning to do a clone grow journal from first clipping to harvest on both these strains...have lights to get them rooted but will need a new veg light set-up like yours to take them to the next step!

Thanks and keep up the good work!:allgood:

It's late and I'm sleepy after being out all day. I just got the girls watered, 4 hours later than normal. Long day! I'll share some pics tomorrow.

OTM, looking awesome. I'm surprised the PK is growing so vigorously, from the nature of the stone / bud I always assumed it would be a low, bushy indica. I'm going to have to grow it before long given how well it has worked for me, but I'll wait until your photos push me to an impromptu seed order! I've been staying away from any pruning whatsoever since the flip. I'm going to wait until later in flower. Awesome news on the upcoming cloning. Biggest tip from me - get a humidity dome on them right away, and keep the dome misted as often as you can for the first few days.

pw, the DNA description for LA Confidential says basically the same thing as you're suggesting:

Thinning the large fan leaves in the later part of the flower cycle will promote more light getting to the lower buds, thus increasing your yield.

I was excited to share that (1) my clones are both looking good! and (2) the flower tent is looking happy and healthy! and (3), which I thought was really cool: I can now smell distinct new smells from all 4 plants! When I opened the tent among the normal veg / early flower plant smell I also detected some orange peel. Rubbing fingers on the leaves and stem of both 24Ks produces the same smell. I'm fairly certain I got one or both of the Tangie-leaning phenotypes based on the nature of the growth in veg and now the smell. Sweet (literally)! Meanwhile the LA Confidentials both have their distinct smells. I can smell almost a spicy minty smell from 1 and pine from 2. Exciting times!

I can't believe I haven't stumbled across your journal yet! Either way I am glad I have finally made it. I really like the way you have structured your journal to make the updates easy to fine and read. Everything is looking really healthy! Looks like you are on the path to exceed your goal as well.

Thanks for stopping by Ase! I really enjoy seeing pros like you drop in. I have no idea what kind of harvest I might be heading for but I feel like I've got myself into a good position considering my earlier hiccups.

Ase's comment got me thinking - my original goal was 5 oz of quality bud.

I think I'm on track on the "quality bud" side: the genetics are good and I've kept 3 of the 4 pretty healthy. The light burn in veg on LA1 is the only real exception, and that probably won't impact the quality of the high. Still have to get through flower but I'm happy to this point.

But I have no idea about the "5 oz" side. I based that goal originally on how many watts the light draws and estimating 0.5g/watt. When is a good time to get a rough ballpark idea of expected yield? I'm thinking week 3-4 when stretch has stopped?

Just opened the tent. Look at all those pistils! Each site near the top of the canopy seems to have one now.

I'll be back on with pics later.

7F! First week of flower done!

Things are looking pretty good! Still lots of stretch, so I turned off the veg spectrum lights and left only the flower spectrum lights on. I don't want to take too many chances with my limited vertical space.

They're all showing sensitivity to the nutrients, so I backed down tonight to 33% to LA1 and 24K1 and 50% to LA2 and 24K2.

I saw an ant in the tent last night. The first live bug I've seen in the tent. It was on the floor of the tent right next to the door. We've had ants in the house on the main floor the last few weeks, but I generally haven't seen them in the basement. I checked all of the pots closely for signs of ants and the leaves and stems for signs of pests, but didn't see any signs in either case. I put down a sticky trap in any case, the idea being an ant in the tent is there for honeydew, but it hasn't picked anything up. I've had it in there before and haven't ever seen or caught any insects with them. I've had it sitting outside the tent when it hasn't been in the tent and have never caught anything on it. I'm going to chaulk it up to being a stray ant from upstairs but keep the sticky trap in for a couple of days to be safe.

LA Confidential 1: The light burn makes it look ugly, but it appears to be developing well all the same. It's been sensitive to nutrients with some clawing.

LA Confidential 2: The tops aren't as mature as the 24Ks but the branches are strong, and it looks very healthy, so I'm hoping my misfires on training work out.

24K Gold aka Kosher Tangie 1: Not quite as beefy as 24K2 but looking great all the same.

Thanks for following!

Great looking ladies, nice job on keeping leafs clean.

Cheers

Beautiful Dobewan. That 24K #2 is going to be the queen of your tent soon. Looks like she will produce.

Thanks millertm and blaze. I'm really excited about the prospects for 24K2. Worried she'll throw monkey wrenches but loving the potential. If my pheno(s) is as couch lucky as Feral's it'll make a fantastic early start evening option.
