DobeWan's First Grow! LA Confidential & 24K Gold - LED - 3x3 - Coco

I used the paper towel method to germinate. Looking back it was about 36 hours from putting it in the paper towel to planting, and about 24 hours after planting that it broke the surface of the coco.

I have a plant now that's a bag seed and it's in week 8 of veg and it should be well into flowering but it's only about 6 in tall I shouldn't have a problem with this seed since it's from a seed bank right? Just a little concerned that it's taking a while to sprout but after it does it should be perfectly normal right?

You might have better luck with such a question in a thread like this Q&A thread - it gets way more traffic and has people with way more knowledge than me!

That said - I assume it's a photoperiod plant and as such should flip to flower when you change the lights to 12/12. Although it's not growing by the book I can't see why it wouldn't produce flowers and thus buds if it's a female. It won't yield as much if it's small, but it'll still grow buds.

There could be other factors at play as to why it has struggled in growth. Bag seed is great for learning the basics, but its unpredictable nature limits what you can learn, because you don't know if the problem is genetics, or something else.

2F and all is looking good. Stretch is real! Wasn't enough floor space for the dehumidifier so I took it out. I was thinking I might get some bungee cables and mount it to the frame of the tent - it's very light and that way I could keep it up top away from the greenery.

Also took LA2 off of its small stand - I only had it up there to make sure it was at optimal height after defoliation. It has filled in well and now, I think I'd prefer a little stretch if anything.

I took them all out to water tonight but I fear those days may be numbered as they get bigger and bulkier. So we'll stick with shots under the LED for now. I'm sure I'll start taking shots of individual tops as they develop.

A little excess N tonight, I'm not too worried though. Tonight was a water only night and anyone showing excess N signs tomorrow will get a reduced dose of nutes. For what it's worth I've added a tiny bit of Epsom salts to the feeding. So they're getting GH Bloom, GH Micro, potassium silicate, and Epsom salts at this point. I'll continue with this until 15F, then alter things a little for a few weeks to better support the stage of growth.

I'm thinking of buying some seeds to support future grows and thought I'd throw out some of the ones I'm most interested in, in case anyone has comments. I want a heavy indica and a hybrid that doesn't flinch on the indica side. I'm leaning towards Violator Kush and Gorilla Cookies. Here are the ones I was interested in:

I can't help you much on strains...I just wish I could find some good ol' California Sensimilla, Maui Wowi, Acapulco Gold, or Panama Red strains like we had back in the 70's-80's, Thai Stick was another that was cherished compared to the harsh Mexican ditch weed that was abundant.

I probably have bottles of those seeds stored at my parents house tucked away in a box someplace in my old bedroom if my folks didn't toss them...but I don't think they would be much good after 35-40 years!

My gals are sleeping now and I have to adjust my urge to go check them out...this 12/12 stuff needs some getting use to!

I can recommend White Rhino by Nirvana for a hybrid strain leaning towards indica. Gives a nice body buzz but also hits you in the head as well. Oh... and it's hella strong!

I scheduled lights off during my work day for this very reason! I put my son to bed, and by the time I get down to check on the tent the lights are on. It's torture on the weekend though, knowing from 8-8 I can't touch. It'll be mitigated somewhat as my veg tent progresses. I can putter around in there until lights out at 2. My flower tent is a better name and does a good job of preventing light bleed with the lights on in the room.

I hope I don't regret my timing later in flower. Luckily I'm a night owl!

I had a really nice Black Rhino over the winter, but it was just a couple Gs I put my hands on. I'll add White Rhino to my list. I figure there's strong, and then there's 420mag strong - us regular users have a whole other idea of what is truly strong from the average casual toker!

That strong body buzz is essential for me. I like a hybrid just as you describe it, basically - I need the strong body stone, but I enjoy the head stone so if a strain can give me the best of both worlds I'm a happy camper!

This is an awesome list. Northern Lights I'm staying away from for now, because for many years my connect always had I it, so I grew tired of it. But I've had a ton of it over the years. Master Kush I've never tried, but ironically my first bag comes in the mail tomorrow! Batch is 24% too so should be strong. Can't wait to try it. I've never had Blue Cheese, but assuming it's a Blueberry / Cheese cross that sounds awesome. My one reservation about Blueberry was that it was hard to get a strong Blueberry, but when it's strong I find it top notch. Wonder who has the strongest BB seeds? I was supposed to get a freebie from my last order but they sent Kushy Kush (Canuk) instead. GDP is a must grow at some point for me, but again, who has the seeds closest to the real thing? Bubba Kush is another I'm sure I'll run eventually. Like Purple Kush I find it's hard to find bad GDP or Bubba - just different degrees of good.

Which are you thinking you'll grow next? I've never actually tried Blue Dream either despite my friends telling me it's must-have stuff. I have no expectations from the Kushy Kush so hopefully I'll be pleasantly surprised. I'll have my 2nd run of LA Confidential as a backup so either way I should keep myself stocked on heavy indica!

I have some other stuff of interest kicking around at the house now for what it's worth. I just finished the last of my Violator on the weekend. It's awesome, very Kushy if that makes sense, strong body effect and a musty yet sweet taste. Just what I'm looking for. I still have some Tweed Lot 2 which is an Afghani style pure indica, a proprietary strain from one of my medical providers. It's the bomb and motivated me to grow LA Confidential. I have some Purple OG but was disappointed, it's like the OG negates the best of the Purple Kush. I have some Mango which is super strong but a bit too much in the head for my tastes - I found it even induced some paranoia. I have some Rockstar which is solid but doesn't put me down as hard as I expected. And I have some Sour Kush which I quite like. It's a way Kushier take on the OG Kush / Sour Diesel cross than Headband.

My dad always jokes that the real prize when he passes away will be his High Times collection! I haven't seen them since I moved out of my parents' house many years ago, but I'm a sucker for collectibles and nostalgia like this. I'm sure I'll love them when I view them again in the context of all I've learned about cannabis since.

I checked and my preferred seedbank has these in stock. Have you found better strains for putting you down PW? That's the most important tool in my arsenal because the knockout effect is usually tied to the massive blast of body stone. Purple Kush was my longtime favourite for that until I got more access and started to branch out. Bubba is good too. This seems like a natural fit.

Did I also read at some point PW that you grew Vanilla Kush or one of the Barneys Farm Kush strains? Have you ever grown or had Hindu Kush and if so would you pick the Purple Afghan over it, for helping with insomnia? Some people say Hindu Kush is the best strain for sedative body stone.

I'm growing Violator next for sure but I'll have 4 spots to fill.

Big 4F update!

The stretch continues. I think the 24Ks have grown about 6 inches since I flipped, from 9.5ish to 15.5ish. LA2 is slightly behind. LA1 has been a little slower to grow but was way taller to start and still leads in height, but only by about 3.5 inches over 24K2.

I took a bunch of pics tonight trying to see which came out the best when shooting in the tent. I tried with the lamp on, off without supplemental light, and off with flash. Neither represents the look correctly so I figured I'd include a few of each!
