DIY Stealth Cab, Hydro, LED & Multiple Strains in Small Space - Oh Boy!

Thanks for that MacG!

I totally understand, but they must call this strain a "haze" because she's so "hazy" on when she wants to be harvested. I've been listening to her closely and this is what she's saying:

"Hey, I'm done...but not really, and you should definately harvest me now or maybe wait a little while, but I'm really as ripe as I'm gonna get, so don't rush and just be patient a little longer cuz' you're gonna miss the prime harvest window soon!"
:)

Typical female... Sounds like my wife!

:peace:

Word...But I would read this thread before using any of those products that are supposed to do "unnatural" things to our plants..... it doesnt happen naturally, I dont want it to happen...unless it's topping, lsting, fimming,.....oh wait, those dont happen naturally...? Crap, I got nothin...It's late, and I've eaten cookies....:Namaste:

Quick, I've actually read that thread, but you had a typo in your link (must be the cookies! :yummy:), so for others who haven't read it, it's here:

Gravity, Purple Maxx, and Bushmaster

I've done some good research on all of those products along with SnowStorm & SnowStorm Ultra which are all made by the same company (Emerald Triangle).

I've only used the SSU, and only used it as a foliar, but I've been very happy with the results. There's good concensus that Gravity and BushMaster also do exactly what Emerald Triangle claims they will do. Purple Maxx is supposed to be just like SnowStorm, only with some chemical that will help turn the buds purple IF it's a purple strain and I have heard it works also. SSU is basically Purlple Maxx for the non-purple strains.

I do know that you need to be careful on how you use these supplements and that they can harm the plants if not used correctly. SSU, for example, should NOT be used in a res with an airstone or with PPM's over 1,000. I would not hesitate to try any of the Emerald Triangle products, in spite of that thread, but when you do, just remember the "less is more" and "take small jumps" philosophies and you'll be fine.

Well said MR. Krip.

The link was good too. I use Gravity and I think it helps. Maybe I will do comparison grow and then judge. I will be using Snowstorm at the end too. Will be the first time for that one. Either way good info! :bravo:

 Sorry for the typo!! I thought it looked funny, I had a word dissapear, I think the link ate it!(Damn cookies!) I'm definitely using the SSU on this grow...Already priced it at the hydro store!:high-five:

HAZY HARVEST!

I checked the girls again this morning and the ONLY changes I've seen in the haze in the last week or two is more yellowing and dying leaves, so, I "pulled the trigger" and chopped her this morning.

I was anticipating another 0.5 - 1.0 oz. or so, but now that she's chopped, I think she's gonna be closer to 2.0 oz. and the buds definately look, smell & smoke PRIMO! :grinjoint:

She didnt have anywhere near as many colas as the AK, but this girls got some "big ones"! :)

Here's a couple of her larger colas...

And the main cola is enormous. I'm anticipating about an oz. off just this one stalk:

So, for a while, and likely the entire remainder of her grow, the PE will get the flower side of the cab to herself:

IMAGE_862.jpg

She's budding up very nicely after just a little more than week or so of flower:

Once again, thanks to everyone for their help in making this harvest possible, and a special thanks to all those that convinced me NOT to toss out the haze to make more room for the AK! :)

Happy Harvests!

When you get a break check out my new journal. 5 strains indoor and out ought to be fun! :)

congrats on the finish!!! :thumb: and about the SSU, i was thinkin of usin it as a foliar spray aswell, how much should i put in a basic size spray bottle?? when should i start usin it?? and how often should i use it?? i seen it at my local shop and remember hearing nothin but good things about it, so when i seen it i had to grab it!!! let me know what you think, thanks..

Suka, the SSU is extremely economical to use as a foliar. Just 1ml per quart of water as a foliar once per week. I start them on it in veg, but after I've started nutes and continue to just before harvest, but when the buds get big, late into harvest, be sure not to get them too wet or you'll risk bud rot. I love it and it's so cheap to use as a foliar, I anticipate I will use it in all my grows unless/until I find something better! :)

so i could start usin it now then, and should i just mist the whole plant then?? and all the good stuff people talk about, i think im prolly gonna start usin it from here on out aswell, and its only $10 for a bottle and you say to use that little bit, im sure it can last for a long time!!! thanks Krip, i appreciate it!!! :tokin: :high-five:

Yup, that's it! When just used as a foliar, that little bottle will last for many grows. Glad I could help!

Congrats my Friend ! :cheertwo:

Nice....hope it is two onces.:goodluck:

The PE is going to love having the room to herself. :)

Thanks, OMM! It sure looks like at least two, but I'll make sure to post stat's once it dries.

WHAT THE GOOD GROWERS ALREADY KNOW

Now that I've finished harvesting my first two plants, I thought I'd share my "Top 5 Tips for New Growers".

I hope this will help others out there, especially the newer growers, who are being bombarded with all kinds of new and different information and having to try to figure out what's worth remembering.

Here's the stuff to remember! :)

1) As far as soil or hydro, which brand of nutes, which type of lights (LED, CFL, MH, HPS, T5, etc.), what's the best way to train (FIM, Top, LST, SCROG, etc.), and other questions related to technique - The "best method" is the one(s) that work for you! Different growers have different styles of growing and where one method, or nute regime, works great for one grower, another may have better success with something different. Opposing methods are not something to argue over, they are something to learn from. The more techniques you learn, the more you can experiment with to find the method that works best for you.

2) The plant is a living organism that will do its best to survive and thrive like any other living organism. That means, as growers, our plants don't die. WE kill them! We do this by NOT giving them what they need to survive. They need water, light, air, nutrients, and a favorable climate. If we can provide these, the plants repay us for it with bountiful harvests of great meds! :)

3) Before you start worrying about spending lots of money on nutes, put your money into providing a good environment for your plants. Proper lighting, ventillation, humidity, and temperatures will do more for maintaining healthy plants than any nutes you'll find. I'd rather grow with lower quality nutes in a good environment than try to make a go using the best nutes in a bad environment.

4) Part of maintaining the right environment MUST include PH. Once again, it doesn't matter how good your nutes are (or how good you think they are!), if the PH is out of range, the nutrients may not be able to be absorbed by the plants. Often I'll see growers who have a perfectly sound nute regime identify a deficiency and then try to make up for it by simply adding more nutes and never checking/adjustig PH. Then they say something like, "geez...I'm giving the plant tons of phosphorous but she's still showing a phosphorous deficiency!" Well, before you give the plant more Phosphorous, you should ask yourself, "why, if I'm on a sound nute regime, is the plant showing a P deficiency?" The answer will most likely be related to PH or other environmental factors and NOT the lack of Phosphorous in the nutes.

5) Listen to the plants! I had numerous growers tell me to do this before I really understood what it meant. It's not only being able to look at the plants to identify a specific issue, or when to harvest, but on it's most basic level, it's to determine that you have an issue before it becomes a BIG issue. For example, if you walk in your growroom and see your plants looking a little droopy, don't think "Well, I'll just give it another day and see if it gets any worse". It will! Your plants are telling you there's SOME issue...maybe overwatering, maybe underwatering, maybe temps, RH, or something else, but don't expect it to get better unless and until YOU make some adjustments!

Happy Harvests!

Don't know how to make this a "Sticky" but it is great advice, not only for firet time growers, but for all growers to review from time to time. Great post Mr. Krip and looking forward to more.

:peace:

perfectly said Krip!!! its like a mini knowledge growing kit lol, i dont know im stoned, all i know is i couldn't have said it any better!!! :thumb:

Thanks, Suka...that's kinda what I was going for! It assumes the person understands the basics of growing, but just needs help applying them.
