DIY Stealth Cab, Hydro, LED & Multiple Strains in Small Space - Oh Boy!

Good luck with the smoke test - hope it's getting to where you want it. 25% amber doesn't sound bad to me, but you have to get it where you want it. Sure getting close! :thumb:

yea you guys are rite, i usaully will try like 2 buds at different times at the end of the grow, that way i can tell how far done it is and to tell if its strong enough or not, i think this grow im gonna let go all the way to the end, not sayin my stuff was bad cause it wasn't at all, it was damn good, but i wanna see if i can get better, hopefully i can.. but yea let us know how the good it is...

QUICK UPDATE:

I just went to grab some current pics and my phone/camera needs to be re-charged, so apologies not only for delayed postings, but making you all have to wait on the pics.

I culled everything from veg except for the four PE's. The haze has been flushing now for almost two full weeks and she's still showing a good amount of white pistils, although, the early smoke test was really fantastic. And, it tasted pretty good, considering no proper dry or cure yet, so I'm anticipating a dynamite smell & taste after a good cure.

I really wanted to get some pics up to get peoples' opinions on when to harvest. All those white pistils make it look early, but she's been in 12/12 for something like 120 days now, and she's been feeding on herself so there's a good amount of yellowing, and, the smoke is primo.

I probably should do another smoke test to see if it's still improving. If so, I'll let it go some more and if not look to harvest this weekend.

Oh boy, it's gonna be exciting soon - the suspense is killing me, Mr. K! :cheertwo::popcorn:

Thanks, XLR8! It's killing me, too! I sure didn't think I'd be taking samples after 120 days of 12/12, but it looks & smells so nice, and it's been so long already, the last thing I want to do is to take it down early. Although, I think either way, I'll have about another oz or two of some good meds.

Pic update on the way! :)

LONG AWAITED PIC UPDATE!

I don't know if this is long awaited by anyone else, but I've been jonesing the last week or so not having much time to post here on 420. I want all my "bro's" to know I've been keeping up with all your journals, even though my posting has been few & far between.

Here's a quick look at the flower side of the cab:

IMAGE_852.jpg

The PE is really budding up nicely and has great internode spacing, so I'm hoping for some nice & dense colas, but it's still way too early to tell:

And here's a few shots of the PE colas, which are huge and look & smell great! :yummy: :

Here's the dilemma...

It's been 120 days of 12/12 and two full weeks of final flush. Here buds seem well developed, and there's a lot of yellowing going on, but there's still a lot of white pistils visible.

I turned the LED off for these next pics to give you all a better perspective:

So, what do you think? Should I harvest her or give her more time?

I did just trim up another bud to help me make the decision :) :

Thanks for all the help & happy harvests!

Lett'er go just a lil bit more brotha! Im far from an expert, but I have a feeling she's not done yet...Are you able to check the trichs?

Quix, yeah, trichs are about 25% amber now. I was shooting for 50% but I've also read that this strain should be harvested a little early, when the trichs first start to turn amber. It's all those damn white pistils that have me stressing about harvesting too early, but I also remember some advice from Brother Blue :rip: that some phenos never fully lose the white pistils, either, so maybe this is one of them?

For sure brother, I'm no expert on the purple strains, but if you have SOME info, its better than NO info, which is where Im at with the PE,....Kinda hard to tell without it being outside with no cold temps (which is what turns it purps if I remember correctly)...I also noticed a tiny bit o fox tailing in those last pics, which doesnt tell me much cuz Im a noob, But I DO know that mine were close to harvest when they started to foxtail.....Sh!t man I dont know....
Only one way to find out!!! Chop some now, and chop spme later!!!:goodluck:

Hey Bro as you know I just went through the "chop/no chop" decision a few weeks back. IMHO, after all the research I did as a noob/rook it came down to knowing my grow was ready. For me the hard part to pulling the trigger was the trich's not being quite amber enough, 90% cloudy with bending heads and 50% amber, 90% pistils brown but not withdrawn 100%, and time available to harvest properly.

The final decision was made by just simple observation of the plants overall demeanor. I can't explain it in detail or in anyway that may help you, but I just knew, they were telling me "hey you, were done", "we fought the good fight and were ready to rest". And in the final analysis you know your grow better than anyone and have done an excellent job overcoming the challenges. :bravo:

:bravo::amen:Well said....

i think they could also go alittle longer, you still have alot of big white hairs, but thats up too you... and what kind of bloomer do you use again, because you always end up with big ass buds..and definitely lookin good too!!!

Yo, mr. Krip, long time no talk, how have you been brother? I apologise for not being more active in the community lately. I have no excuse other than I was being a lazy jerk only commenting on my own journal and that is pretty lame and selfish of me, so I wanted to get back at ya and say hi how ya doing. Are you still growing in that box or have you been able to expand the set up? I'll be expanding my entire set up to an entire bedroom once my room mate moves out towards the end of july and i'm about to flip two four 18 inch tall bushie girls to bloom today! Woo! Will post a picture update soon, can't wait to hear back from you my friend.

Quix, that's exactly what I'm doing. I vaped that sample this morning and was not in any way disappointed. I'm gonna start sampling every few days and chop when she's peaked.

You've got a good eye! There's a LOT of foxtailing going on now and that usually happens very late in bloom, so it is a sign she should be ready soon! :)

BTW...the plant that's about ready for harvest is a Royal Haze and the PE just started flower. I don't believe either one is considered a "purple strain" but I could be wrong. It is cold that effects the color change, but there's also a product called "Purple Maxx" that can help this happen.

Thanks for that MacG!

I totally understand, but they must call this strain a "haze" because she's so "hazy" on when she wants to be harvested. I've been listening to her closely and this is what she's saying:

"Hey, I'm done...but not really, and you should definately harvest me now or maybe wait a little while, but I'm really as ripe as I'm gonna get, so don't rush and just be patient a little longer cuz' you're gonna miss the prime harvest window soon!"

So, I think I have to throw the "listen to the plant" strategy out the window with this one! :)

Thanks, Suka. Those long white hairs are the ONLY think keeping me from harvesting now.

I'm using Advanced Nutes Micro/Grow/Bloom plus Bud Candy and Big Bud for bloom. The last couple of weeks of bloom I discontinue the Big Bud and use OverDrive. All AN products. I also use DM Zone throughout the entire grow.

Word...But I would read this thread before using any of those products that are supposed to do "unnatural" things to our plants.....Gravity, Purple Maxx, and Bushmaster it doesnt happen naturally, I dont want it to happen...unless it's topping, lsting, fimming,.....oh wait, those dont happen naturally...? Crap, I got nothin...It's late, and I've eaten cookies....:Namaste:

Hey Hydro! I'm doing good and been real busy myself, so no need to apologize.

I'm still growing in my DIY cab and no plans to expand anytime soon.

As much as I'd like to dedicate more room, I'm real happy with the stealth aspect, which would be tough to maintain (if, for example, I dedicated an entire bedroom! :) ) and it's just enough room to grow the meds I need.
