DirtyDanny's 600 Watt LED Grow

thanks dd......i was wondering about it being to much, but was hoping it would work.....:( i have taken one out and raised the remaining 300watt panel to 36"....gonna flush as you suggested......i have only grown hydro so the organic soil is bnew to me.....good to know a month before feeding nutes..:)..i do not know how to upload pictures.....i have a few that i wanted to post with the symptoms.....i will try to figure out and post later:)....thanks again

No problem............anytime.:high-five:
Growing with LED's are new to me as well........things are a lil bit different when using them.
Im still trying to get the hang of it.......but its going pretty damn good for my 1st attempt.
You can lower your light once the plants get "adjusted" to the different light spectrum and the girls will start growing like crazy!
You have to go to the "gallery" tab at the top of the page to upload pics.........they upload into your own personal gallery.
They you just click the little camera icon located at the top of the "quick reply" box and select your photos.

here we go guys......i pruned these leaves off yesterday...

Yep............that definately looks like nute burn..........my girl showed the same EXACT burning only much worse.
You have to go real easy on the nutes when they are that young.......probably only 25% of what the manufacturer says and SLOWLY increase every week or so.
Dont worry........they will recover with a good flush. Looking like a good start though bro...:bravo:
Keep an eye on your ph as well...........although your soil should buffer the PH to be fairly stable without having to adjust much.

DD...was wondering what your temps run....i have mine coming on at the top of every hour for fifteen minutes while lights are on and every two hours lights off.....off time lights on run 88 to 89...with exhaust 75.....then building to 88 over 45 minutes.....to much change in temp you think.....thanks for any input:)

also did the flush on the girls....now they are in recoop mode now....except the auto afghan....she is a trooper....didn't realize how much she had grown till i went back through the pics......anxious to see how she turns out:)...especially following your advice!!!

My temps of lately has been 72 with exhaust on(it was about 80 just last week but the weather has cooled down a bit)............
I just set up the co2 again today...........with the tent sealed the temp was only 82, which should be fine with 1600+ ppm of co2.
I give mine a co2 dose every 2 hours for 6 minutes, but it leaches out pretty fast.
Ive been wanting to build an intake and exhaust system for the big ass LED light so its not generating heat inside the tent.
(so its basically a sealed light like the "cool hoods" for HID lights)
Its seems that it would be easy enough to do with just some cardboard, duct tape, and clothes dryer ducting.
These exhaust fans built into the LED lights generate more heat than you would expect them to...................
Im kinda a GIMP right now because I just had knee surgery.........so I havent made it to home depot to get the supplies i need to put my plan into action.

Yep............89F is gonna probably be too hot........but some strains can take the heat and some cant.
All I can say is try it out for a few days and see how they respond....

hmmm...i like that idea.....your right...shouldn't be to hard to fabricate something......might have to put some thought into that cause the led does generate a good amount of heat...for a tent anyhow....i will let you know if i come up with something.......not to steal your idea, but if it will stabilize the temps and make the girls happy then....kinda have to dont i:)

Wait a min...................duh, I think I just had a brainfart moment!
You are talking about Co2 enrichment right? Or do you just mean your exhaust schedule???
Sorry bro.........im not with the program today for some reason:yikes:

nah bro.....exhaust schedule.......:)too funny though....i want a co 2 system, but dont have the funds for it right now and really dont know much about it......i used to use a bucket system that was suppose to be a natural co2 enrichment, but i dont think i benefited much from that........what kind of co 2 system are you running......have you used it with the leds yet and was there a definate difference to warrant the price:).....lots of questions bro:) sorry

Im willing to bet that with a "cooled" LED panel............the temps inside the tent would drop close to 10F....maybe more depending on the ambient room temp.
Give it a shot! And post up some pics so I have a "blueprint" to work with when I get motivated to build mine:high-five:

Actually..........believe it or not, I havent grown any herb in 15 years! This is my 1st grow ever with LED's and/or Co2........so its all new to me as well. I just do a shitload of research before I dive into anything and wing it as I go....lol
The indoor growing science has changed ALOT in the past 15 years.................So im getting back up to speed as I go.
I grew for years with a HPS.......but that was ages ago............its a whole new ballgame now.
The Co2 will make a HUGE difference in growth rate......its just getting the proper temp and light saturation so that the plants can actually "use" all that extra Co2 floating around.
If all your other environmental factors (temp, humidity, light intensity, ventilation, ect) are not in their maximum "sweet spot"......than the Co2 is just wasted as the plants wont be able to process it. (it could actually harm them at high enough doses)
I dont expect to find the "sweet spot" with this particular grow......but you have to start somewhere huh?
I bought a compressed 20# Co2 tank with an electric regulator hooked up to a digital timer and I have a stand alone Co2 monitor that reads the levels in the tent in PPM.
I started to use it when the temps here was cooler.........crazy explosive growth! (you have to seal your tent to gain any benefits)
As summer started warming up my basement got warmer and my sealed tent temps started to climb into the mid 90's.
My baby girl just shut down and stopped growing altogether......so I turned off the Co2 system and just left the door open to the tent and installed a tower fan in the tent. She recovered after a week.....
So........to make a long story short.....yes, it works quite well! But you have to get all your other environmental factors correct for it to be effective.:peace:

yeah that sounds like more than i want to worry about right now....get through a couple of these grows and see what happens:).....i have enough to worry about right now..lol

Alrighty then...........
The turntable for my girl came yesterday!:bravo:
It looks so freaking awesome to sit and watch her "spin her goods"
It makes a single revolution about every minute or so.
Its like a "eye candy" showcase up in here.....lol
Im hoping that this will get some much needed light to the shorter tops.
I took a short video......but it no workie on this forum :o(

I'll bet it's hypnotizing ... I believe the speed is a little under a revolution per minute, which should be about perfect ... It will be interesting to see the results of combining a turntable w/ a Big ASS LED ...
:thumb:

Yeah........im not even through week 4 yet......so I probably have 5-6 more weeks to go yet.
I should be able to see a difference within a week or so.
I would think that it should make a noticable gain!

Ordered some cal-mag and bud candy today to try to ramp up bud fattening!:thumb: Anyone have any expierence with these products? They both seem to have very good reviews.......
Ive had some spotty rust on and off throughout the entire grow.....think it might be a micronutrient problem

Cal/Mag will raise your PH. I use it a couple times during flower. Mag gets washed out of the soil very easy. It is good stuff to have around for easy application.

Never used Bud Candy

:Namaste:

ok DD...here we go....my wife had an avon box laying around so i confiscated it and a roll of duct tape......i took a few pics along the way.....i have it running now just hanging in a room, but intake air from top is 75.....exhaust from both sides is 85......i still have to get more 4 in duct before i can test in the tent......i am going to let it run for a 24 hr period to make sure there is no over heating which i dont anticipate with the way it seems to be working...right now:)
