Dennise - No Longer The Newest Of Newbies - Not Growing In MG - Perpetual

Molasses added to a harvest flush will do several things.
Molasses added to harvest flush will
1) Supply the plants with simple sugars that they can easily transform into other simple sugars.
2) give a small amount of nutrients to the plants.
3) be a low ppm nutrient solution that will pull more nutrients from the plants then plain pH adjusted water.
4) molasses is also said to improve the taste of cannabis.

Thank you, King. So the idea of a harvest flush is to wash the nutrients OUT of the plant so you don't ingest or smoke them with the weed? I just don't understand the "flush" process and why it is necessary. It definitely makes sense to me that the weed would taste better, but not sure what else flushing does. I am amazed at how much there is to know and based on how great the weed is these days, there is definitely something to a lot of these methods.

In other words, you bought a bale of promix! Haha. Did I tell you that a key word to avoid in any bag of mix is the word "soil." If a bag says "potting soil" it is junk and do not use it.

You only have to water once with mychorizzae, so it is not important to have it over and over in any application. The fungal threads attach to the root hairs and do not get washed out...as an aside.
Well I just ordered a bag of FoxFarm Happy Frog Organic Potting Soil. I've seen a few members using this in the past with good results & it was in my price range. I'd like to hear comments/reviews on this product, pros or cons.

I read a study where plants were given a 24 hour dark period before harvest and plants were not given a dark period before harvest and the cannabinoids were tested and The test results were nearly identical. The myth of giving your plants a period before harvest has been debunked. I do not give my plants any period of darkness before harvest.
Lately I've looked at light cycles as what would it subjected to in it's natural habitat. In almost every part of the world a plant would never see 24 hrs of darkness nor 24hrs of light. Nothing scientific or proven but I just try to use my common sense sometime.

What type of molasses should I purchase? Is it regular molasses from the supermarket?

We hope to see you all tomorrow on THE REPS ARE RIGHT. Details are in my signature below.

This is the bottle of Black :high-five:strap I have......

You didn't ask me, but black strap molasses has iron where ordinary molasses does not have that element.

Also, when I said my little shpiel about "mix" and "soil" I did say that there have been a lot of developments in growing media for specific things and this was not available when I worked in the growing industry 20 years ago. We had to hand mix special soils for specific desired results.

Growing cannabis is a whole new ball game. I learn about 100 things a day about it, and I haven't scratched the surface. BTW, I posted some photos of the nutes I use on my journal.

I assure you if the King said it there is a good reason. He has not lead me wrong ever. I do know the reason you flush is to wash out as much nutes as you can so the plant will use up as much as possible of what is stored and of course for taste...:high-five:

I believe him, I just like to know why. I guess it's the academic in me. I ask a lot of questions.

Oh, one other thing about black strap molasses, it is sold in garden centers by the gallon and is usually called, Horticultural Molasses. A gallon cost me about 8 dollars. I buy gallons when I am brewing compost tea. I use quite a bit of it then.

Sorry Brooklyn, I wasn't ragging on you. It's just after reading your post I just wanted to make sure I hadn't made a bad purchase.

You want unsulfered molasses, yes you can use store brand molasses. I went to a bulk food place and purchased their molasses.
Thanxx John...

This really isn't Promix and I had checked Lowes too. I was told by both Lowes and the nursery I ended up going to that Promix has priced themselves out of the market and that is why they no longer carry them and this is what they replaced it with. It's a company out of Canada.... Berger. You should check out their site and if I can get it around here unless you live in Hootersville or something. Heck I live in Hootersville so you are bound to be able to get it and it is cheap. Even had I paid for a bale it would have only been $27.00. I have no idea in my head how much that is going to break down to but I'm sure it is a lot so I have been trying to do some homework. They carry a whole line of certified organic......:peace:
