Dennise - No Longer The Newest Of Newbies - Not Growing In MG - Perpetual

And last but not least the beautifully huge cabinet girls that are showing sex all over the place too. I have not flipped to 12/12 or added the flower spectrum but they don't seem to care. Going to leave them in veg until I chop down the closet girls so they are just going to do whatever they are doing for another week or 2 or however long them things have in there. If someone wants to jump in and let me know what they think about timing on the closet girls I sure would be happy to listen. Someone was talking on a thread but I can't remember who about time to harvest. I know the milky to amber thing but they were talking about something on the pistils on the stalk turning down or something. I obviously don't know what I am talking about but if any of you guys do please let me know. What if anything other than the color of the trichs do you look for to know it is the best time to harvest???...........:circle-of-love:

The best mix I've ever used is TGA's Super Soil. ;)

That very well may be, but it doesn't have any "soil" in it. I guess for specialized mixes which were not yet available 20 years ago when I was working in the greenhouse industry. We had to churn our own specialized mixes for certain plants. Now they sell all sorts of outrageously expensive "soil" special for growing cannabis and truthfully, it is all really quite a big industry on its own.

You did really well, Dennise. Before you use promix, it will work out better for you if you wet the soil or moisten it before putting it in the container you will grow in. Also, before transplanting anything from a seedling to a clone with roots, make sure the root ball is completely wet all the way in to the center. I also use liquid seaweed as a drench whenever I transplant because it has many hormones and enzymes necessary for root development and helps tremendously with the transplant shock.

And one thing about organic; you do not have to be organic to grow your plants. Of course we all had enough crap in us to last an ocean of eons, but we can start any time to detox it out. I am really trying to get my health in order. Right I have mild encephalitis from elevated blood ammonia...another time. What I mean is, if you grow organically you will get a bigger, healthier product. It will be free of petrochemicals that are found in synthetically derived N (nitrogen). It will work, no doubt, but the plant becomes dependent on the fertilizer and not the soil. Healthy plants have a symbiotic relationship with the biota in the soil. Plants fed synthetically do not have the brix levels of organically grown plants of any kind, fruiting or not. If I use mychorrizae in my containers and fertilize with Miracle Gro, I just burned my expensive mychorrizae and most other microbes which digests the organic matter in soil and feeds the root hairs. Sorry for my shpiel! And I am honored to be here. I hope I don't sound snooty or anything with how much I do know about growing. I am trying to apply this knowledge to growing pot, but...we will see. I can grow anything in the ground, but in my closet!

Hey Garden, it's great you are here and your knowledge is totally appreciated! The more the merrier, and we all learn and grow. I definitely think I'm still an amateur and I still have tons to learn. I was just razzin' you for saying that products that say potting soil are junk! I don't totally agree with that statement. Foxfarm's Happy Frog and Ocean Forest are both labeled as 'potting soil' and I think they are far from junk. I've had great success with them and I would recommend them, as a base with some initial nutes. On the flip side, I did try some generic potting soil from Blowes and it was not good for ye ole cannabis!

I think next round I'll be mixing up my own organic 'Super Soil', with Root's brand and maybe Happy Frog as a base. But if you can ever buy a bag of TGAs Super Soil, you'll be amazed at how great your plants will look. But it's super rich and you only want to use it with a mature plant...

:peace:

Fox Farms is what the cabinet group grow girls and the runt baby are in. 50/50 Happy frog and Ocean Forest and using fox Farm nutes on them and I certainly can't complain..... My original plan was to run totally fox Farms but that shiz is expensive but if this other doesn't work out for me I will go back to my Fox Farms. Well I still have a big ol' tote full of it But I would have to get more nutes probably and I really think the medium I got yesterday with the Growology nutes are going to rock and be a lot let to remember... :circle-of-love:

can we get a closeup of some flowers that are near a grow light with the leds off? minimal light and a flash is the best

Well of course you can. I like taking pictures but it will be just a little bit.....:circle-of-love:

High cronic... I like pretty pictures...:circle-of-love:

I am going to look into these specialized soils, but I am going to think the soil I make is as good if not better at a fraction of the price and I have a wholly organic mix. The one thing I add to my soil is compost and to that I add granular fertilizer of 8-2-4 and supplement using soft rock phosphate powder or people can use bone meal (I'm vegan). Liquid fertilizers provide elements, but nothing like you get when the soil it teaming with biota.

I'm really talking to myself out loud. I do think I will have to buy one light unit. I don't know how well CFLs are going to produce strong buds. People say they do, and they look like they do, but after watching Mr. Green's video, I will be switching to his method of aquaponics using two grow rooms or areas divided. I'll have a constant clone section, mother plant(s), plants in veg. and others 12/12. Exciting!

Granted, it is much better and easier for plants to grow in outside conditions with real sunlight and real fresh breezy air and such! This has turned into a hobby of mine and I am loving it more than I can say. Not only because I will have free medicine forever, but because it is such a productive activity.

:ciao:Hi King. I hope you can tell anything from those pics. I don't know why they suck so bad but they do. Seems I have quite a bit of the shakes this morning but I need to know what you think on the next watering for the closet girls and the cabinet grow if you don't mind. If you think it would not be to terribly soon... I kinda was thinking that if they are ready by Sun week I will have help to chop them and him being home would make it a whole lot easier. If you think that will just be toooo soon let me know that too please. Thank you as always King. You are the best....:adore::adore::adore:

I have been scouring the property looking for a good outside grow space for this spring and my fella has been arguing about it saying a greenhouse would be a much better idea. I think I just realized what is behind his thinking. I just don't ever give him enough credit but as much as I love the wild life here I would be furious if they ate my garden....:circle-of-love:

the girls are definitely ripening, but give them those extra couple weeks to stack up the weight :high-five:

They have until Sun week and the end will be here. I hope they will be ripe and ready cause the medical cabinet girls are spitting pistils all over the place and they are going to be much more potent than the bag seed in there now I hope but am ready to get them out of there get the closet cleaned back up and get the group grow girls in there..... Makes me tired thinking about it today. I think I will do a little LST on the cabinet girls today too but then I am going to lay down for the rest of the day.... Momma's tired........:circle-of-love:

Looking lovely Dennise! I really like the deer pics too. I used to live in Monterey CA and used to see this huge stag near my house once in a while, such a noble creature!

:thanks: Rain... I counted a total of 16 deer on the property this morning. 2 of them were bucks and beauties too. I am so glad hunting season is over here cause #1 they wouldn't be running around and #2 if they were they would have gotten shot by these folks around here. I know the herds have to be thinned but I hate it. I love venison though as long as I don't have to cook it and preferably don't know what it is until I am through eating. I used to hunt with my Dad many years ago and don't even know how I did it back then but I couldn't do it now if I was starving I don't think.......:circle-of-love:
