I'm still wondering if I should top my outdoor soil. I know Buckshot uses Gnat nix - that broken glass - to top his soil.. I'm concerned about gnats and other unwanted pests..
IDK, do you think topping one stage of the cycle (Seedling,Veg,Flower) would be more critical than another, in terms of fending off gnats and other predators?
The main reason I'm torn about this is because I was planning on using a top-soil for additional plant nutrition.
I'm planning on using PJ's mix (which reminds me, have you guys considered the dangers bat guano has been reportedly associated with?), do you
(Bob, Dennise, anyone who also uses PJ's or an all/mostly organic mix) use compost teas? If so, at what stages do you typically try to use them?
I'm starting to wonder if I should still even transplant if I were to grow outdoor for only one harvest?
Where's the benefit in going from Seedling to Veg to Flower, if someone's not going the perpetual route? What about just going from a ~3G pot to 8G?
And Hey, Bob
Are those white stones are perlite, Doc?
I know you said you plan on doing this 3 times before bedding it outside, I'm assuming that's in a mix of some sort contained in a box and not just out in open air, am I wrong? Also, do the roots become very dry, brittle, and light? How long do you think it will be before you bed the roots/eventually use them in a soil?
Please, help me understand!
Kinda went all over the place on this one, I counted 10 questions
Hope most of this mess I've left can be addressed. As always, thanks guys. I'm learning so much.
