Dennise - No Longer The Newest Of Newbies - Not Growing In MG - Perpetual

... If I don't know the answers I have some really smart folks that travel through here from time to time and can usually get ya an answer pretty quickly.....:welcome:....:circle-of-love:

And then again, less smart people like the Doc come through and just makes silly comments! :laughtwo:

I used white stones for awhile for the same reason on my grow. Silly hard to recover them all. I gotta try those clay balls too sometime.

And Dennise was right about the root balls too. I pull the stem out of the ball, toss the rest into a huge plastic tote full of root balls. Those get broken down, rinsed (for the ones that had old liquid salty newts in 'em, otherwise no need) and then that is my tote of "pro mix" for the next run. Do it 3 times then those go into beds outdoors. At least that is my current plan.

Love Olivia. She is such a cute thing. And :thumb: on Pineapple Chunk. That means we have ones that are about 2 weeks apart. It will be fun to see how they compare.

LMAO. I GOT to say this. Dont be messing DOC. lmao.
Just kidding dude. but had to say that. lol.

Doc I just adore seeing you... You still put a smile on my face and thank you for the very kind words....:high-five:....:circle-of-love:

Garsh :bigblush:

If I didn't have you friends on here I swear I would be lost at times. My favorite hobby for many years and I have no one in my life to talk about it most of the time. My wife and I have lived an isolated life for the last 10 years and are far from our friends. Almost everyone we know locally are work related in some way. Everyone that would love to play in our gardens are thousands of miles away.

I get to come on here and talk about growing, cooking, kids, health, fun and everything I care about. I find that people here think like I do with enough variation to continually challenge the mind. Heck just look at the member contests. Just the names there are such experts in diverse areas of the hobby. Then you see a name, think "hey and new person I haven't heard of" and then see they have thousands of posts. This is a very interesting, deep and diverse community.

And your corner of it is one of my favs! Oh, and I owe you big on soil help and getting me on the PeeJay train with this grow. I think of the two of you every time I open my tent. :adore:

OK Dennise, for the "1.046th time" I would like you to give us poor newbie's a play by play of growing with PJ's soil. So on Olivia's popping of the seed in the flag box and the tap root nicely expressed you transferred her to her nest in PJ's seedling soil and I assume the soil was already wet or you then soaked it. Now did you mist it daily or just let the soil handle it? If just watered when did you decide it needed more water? Now you transplanted her to the veg soil of PJ's and say it about a 3 gal pot and again let her tell you when she's thirsty. What does that usually run in days? Finally your going to switch her to flower in probably a 5-7 gal pot and again let her tell you when she's thirsty. Have you completed a grow yet using just water and PJ's soil without any additional nutrients? Thank you so much for you time and advice. Dan:thanks::goodjob::welcome:

Lobo.... I think I'm figuring out the solo part...:)
Ok. Here we go... Wet paper towel... Pretty wet... Not dripping... Put bean inside.. Fold it over then put it in a baggie loosely folded over... Put in tin can... Open 72 hours later... Hopefully there will be a nice little tap root.. PJ soil that I use has 3 parts... Seedling.... Veg..... Flower... I use a small pot of seedling soil... Wet it well with purified water and plant about a half inch deep... Wait for baby to pop her little head... I wait about a day leaving under a CFL then I placed in tent under the 96x3w and 48x3w reflectors.... Once she has gotten a nice set of legs under her I will pot her up to a 1 gallon pot and let her veg for approximately 6 weeks or more.... At about 6 weeks I will pot her up to a 5 gallon smart pot with the bloom soil put her under the Spider4 if it has not blown up... If it has... I have several Mars II's..... Other than water I plan to only use the essential oils as a foliar spray starting at week 3... Twice a week until 2 weeks before harvest.......
Yes I have done 2 complete grows using PJ's soil.... I hope your happy...:;):...:circle-of-love:

Lobo the best way to know when to water is to pick up your container both wet and dry so that simply by picking it up you will know... If you stick your finger in the side it should be dry at least an inch or so... After a bit you will be able to just pick it up and look at the soil and you will know....:circle-of-love:

:surrender: Lobo I just proved I love ya... I just got to my computer and all the above was typed from my telephone... shhhewww....:circle-of-love:

Lobo, have you ever let a plant go dry until it was at the brink of death? The single best way to get a grasp of over watering is to explore the lower limit. Play chicken a couple of times and it'll change the way you think about watering.

Misting is not good...

Thank you Dennise!!! Thank you too, PJ. I only did one small grow in DWC, and did everything wrong. So I decided to start at the beginning again. I can get it to the seedling stage but then it seems to stretch too much and then die. Now I have PJ's soil and want to start from the first step, I am a bit nervous about trying to do a formal grow journal so wish me luck. Please be patient.:Namaste::Namaste::thanks: Dan

Ok cool, Lobo. It's really easy. The dirt is very forgiving. When you water, WATER. Make sure the soil is holding all the water it can. Let it drain through the holes in the bottom. Take your time and make sure all the soil is as wet as it can get. It drains well. It won't turn to "mud."

Plants don't keel over and die of thirst over night. I'm not joking when I say to play chicken a couple of times and let them go really dry. It's not exactly good for the plant to do that... You will learn a ton about when dry is really dry, though. Avoid the temptation to sprinkle little bits of water on 'em here and there. Cannabis is actually a thirsty plant but it likes well drained soil.

Please don't mist your plants.

l... I watered the 5 gallon pot today with Olivia in it.... It took the entire 5 gallons and drained less than a cup out... I have used everything from Miricle Grow :thedoubletake: to Fox Farms and all the nutes in between and I promise you hands down and by far... this is not only the easiest soil ever to work with... it grows the best herb I have ever smoked... It just don't get better and it ain't never gonna get no easier... Now I'm sure PJ knows a trick or 2 for doing a drench here and a foliar there with this and that but so far I am just absolutely thrilled with the PJ soil and purified water... The only thing I had to add during the last 2 grows was cal/mag and that is because of the LEDs... I don't really know the science behind it but they all do it and almost everyone posts they have to add extra cal/mag.... If this show up in your grow... just add 1 tsp per gallon (5ml) and it will clear any issue right up with a defeciency of calcium and magnesium.....:circle-of-love:
