Re: Outdoor grow BPN

Thanks for clearing that up ^ like I said I've never grown outdoors. But remember he's going to veg a lot longer then 1.5 months putting it outside in April. What were your roots like in those 5 gallon buckets?

No problem. The only difference will be the size. His plant grown naturally might reach 6-8ft tall but only 2-3 ft in diameter. A plant properly trained under the same circumstances might only get 3-6 ft tall but it can reach 3-7ft in diameter. My shed/greenhouse only has around 6.5-7ft of headroom, which is why I train to maximize my yield in that space.

Oh man I wish I had photos of the rootballs. Every one I yanked out had every single piece of soil and perlite attached to the roots. There was a thick layer of roots on the outside, I actually had to bang them against something so I could reuse the soil in my Veggie garden. I would really recommend using something larger the 5 gallons, it will really boost your yield and decrease your waterings.

Re: Outdoor grow BPN

yea I'm vegging prob almost 6 months! so one huge nug would be nice. and like temp said i don't want it too top heavy.

Having a single cola will make it more top heavy and require more staking and tying. Plus I'm not sure if you've ever grown outdoors but budworms are a BITCH! You have to be on top of caterpillars at all times during flowering or they will ruin your crop. I live by the saying don't put all your eggs in one basket, which is why one huge nug might not be such a good idea. How would you feel to walk out one morning and see a huge brown patch where the budworms infected your main cola, which only leaves you with a bunch of smaller nugs.

Re: Outdoor grow BPN

Yup again, I must say listen to someone who has experience doing it because I've never grown outdoors. I will agree with you though stoned4daze, you should definitely go with larger then 5 gallons or throw it in the ground!

Re: Outdoor grow BPN

yup, you really do need bigger pots mate, you would probably be better off digging a big hole and fill it with compost and perlite and dig it all in and then grow your plants in that, if they get to big in them pots it will only take a bit of wind to blow the plants over and you will end up with loads of crap stuck in your nugs, i would stick it in the ground if you are sure its going to be safe and out the way of prying eyes, you also need to consider some protection from the weather in case you have a storm, plus when its fully in flower and bud heavy you really dont want the rain soaking the plant, so you will possibly need to construct something that will keep the plants out the heavy rain when its in flower, else your going to have some very top heavy and wet buds to deal with, would be a shame to have a branch snap due to weight,

Re: Outdoor grow BPN

twelve12 do you know where I'm supposed to cut? as stoned is referring to.

If you are talking about topping, right where the new growth is coming out of the main stalk snip. Like literally right where the new growth is just coming out you cut straight across. If you do it a little higher up then right where it's coming out it will FIM it and create four tops. Just watch a youtube video "Topping marijuana".

Re: Outdoor grow BPN

whats the FIM top or w.e i was reading somewhere on this site(can't find the page) that if u leave only 10% of the node it will get 8 tops. I wanna do that, do i have to cut down further?

Re: Outdoor grow BPN

to be honest its pretty hard to get it perfect to get 8 tops, but it has something to do with cutting in a certin part of the new growth to get it, you Toped it so ull have to wait till the new stems come up and new growth so u can Fim it. :)
