Hmm I always cut straight across, always works for me. If you google topping cannabis and click the images link the 3rd picture shows the good FIM and topping locations.

when i mean top the side branches you need to wait till the new branches coming from the nodes have got new shoots coming off them, then you top it exactly how you top the top of the plant, so say the side shoot was in theory the main stem, then your going to top it exactly how you topped it just, but you will need to wait untill the side branches are long enough and have got other nodes on them with new growth at these nodes, you can then top the side branch and that will then let the shoots at the node grow into 2 shoots from that branch, so each time you top a branch your going to double up of branches,

You did right on topping. If you want to FIM cut where the red line is in your picture. This is the best area to get the most of your branches. I perfer FIM to allow the two tiny new branches to form. Though it does not hurt to do what you did, having 4-6 more tops is better then just 2.

THANKS MAN sometime i really need that RIGHT IN FRONT OF YOUR FACE ANSWER haha. that helps a lot. when i get my new growth i think I'm gonna top one and fim the other and then just mess around with the plant for the next 6 months of veg lets see if i can come up with POTM

Deege420 you're welcome. So the bat signal works then? lol
Remember FIM require micro tip siccors for it to work. The tiny two growth on the side are worth keeping, and done right the even smaller 2 growth (just above the red line) will emerge giving you 4 new tops. Get the most out of your plant.

Oh ya sorry i forgot pretty stoned off my ass right now listening to dubstep hahah well its good to hear at least your still in the community helping! did you hear i got my BPN 3 part and i just bought some SNS 217 for the Spider mites 
ill be all set in 10 days

ok guys. so heres the update. wil supple pics late afternoon.
So i just fed her about a half a gallon of nuted water.(strong half strength)
Im gonna spray her down with foliar (compost tea)
She still looks like she's flexing at me after her topping late evening last night.
Q: is it normal that the cut site turned black?

Yea the cut site will turn from a pale brown to black its just healing, what u have to worry about is if it gets infected and more of the plant starts chaning colors from the cut, bbut I bet ur fine, doesn't happen to much

yeah man ur doing great just remember the number one key rule, *don't be anal about them there. Weeds they will grow very well now since u got some good products behind u like BPN and SNS for outdoors
