If you are talking about topping, right where the new growth is coming out of the main stalk snip. Like literally right where the new growth is just coming out you cut straight across. If you do it a little higher up then right where it's coming out it will FIM it and create four tops. Just watch a youtube video "Topping marijuana".

Hmm I always cut straight across, always works for me. If you google topping cannabis and click the images link the 3rd picture shows the good FIM and topping locations.

You did right on topping. If you want to FIM cut where the red line is in your picture. This is the best area to get the most of your branches. I perfer FIM to allow the two tiny new branches to form. Though it does not hurt to do what you did, having 4-6 more tops is better then just 2.
You can top/FIM on all tops to bush out the plants. Give it 1 week for new growth to show.
