Dark Devil Auto: A Community Grow Record

Hello sweet sue. Wow what a thread. I remember when it first started. Now its a big part of the mag. I have Big Devil going on in my auto tent. Reading up on this, I'm sure it will help me since the Dark came from BD. Now I'm not sure, but I tend to look at the genetics. I know where BD#2 ,BD xxl and DD came from, but that's it. I can't find anything on Big Devil. I know BD was the building block. Is it a Jack Herrer x Hindu Kush? Anyways, I love reading this stuff. Thank you for your time and this thread.

This is going to be my first successful grow so I'm not certain how much more swell to expect. I'm pretty certain I read the DD doesn't amber up like most stains. She is 55 days old but had a very stunted growth at the beginning. How much longer should I expect her to go?

As a comparison, I'm taking mine down tomorrow morning. She's at Day 88.

Daily Update: Dark Devil Auto: Day 88

I'm taking her down tomorrow. She's done. She's begging me to take her now. I removed all the faded fans yesterday, chanting "pull" with each one. For those of you who don't following Pigeon's video journal - and ask yourself why that is? - he did a harvest video the other day where he chanted that with every fan he picked. It was hysterical, and I know I'm not the only gardener who'll find themselves doing the same thing.

I'm going to be quiet here so you can simply enjoy the splendor that is a Dark Devil Auto. I'll take a couple hits of this delicious Fantasmo Express while I wait for you to finish.

Tomorrow she'll be hanging to drip dry and begin curing. I'm going to hold off on testing her as long as I can force myself to. Those of you that grow this devilish strain know how difficult that can be. Haha! I'll probably have to keep one of those snowball-sized popcorn buds for a taste. I know me. Lol!

I'd say you have a ways to go yet key. The finish time on these has been widely variable for us. I grow in living organic soil no-tills, so my times are usually longer, but this is the amount of swell you can expect if you push them. This plant of mine has almost no amber that I can find and she's more than 20 days past the breeder time line.

Thank you Sue. I'm running Los as well, but my initial mix was off which is what stunted it at the beginning. So I may be in for 4 more weeks or even longer. Good to know. I want those buds to bulk up. I have a feeling I'm going to go through this harvest rather quickly with the wife and friends.

I'm learning as I'm going. You should see my black diesel auto. It's 9 days behind my DD. I thought it would die for sure. It was the size of a seedling when it was three nodes high. Over the last weekend it surpassed my DD in height and just started preflowering. It's going to be a nice sized auto by the time it's done.

Here's our lady at day 78. She's ready. She'll be harvested tomorrow.

As I was clipping away a few dead leaves today, I noticed she was oozing resin in a few places, from branches and fan stems. I'd say a 3 on the "Kushtie Scale."

Here she is. A stunner, I'm sure you would agree.

Well this time ill do more research on strains i like nice yeilds high thc not to hard to grow any suggestions im a beginner but im loving it..

Thank you Budd. I've never researched the strains, so I'm useless there. bobrown14 may know, though thinking about I can't for the life of me explain why he popped into mind concerning this.

Thank you for the compliment. This community has given me so much there's no way I can give enough back to balance the scales, but I'm sure having fun trying to. Lol!

You're LOS is doing a better job than mine. Your colors are breathtaking. Whatever you're doing, keep it up, and push her to the end. That last two weeks is when she really bulks up. Check out the photos I'm posting right after this.

Grown in a second run LOS no-till under an exquisite Timber Lights Vero 240 that was like having a sunlit garden in the corner of my living room, since I run with the door removed and the closet wide open. I love this light so much it's now my Dark Devil Auto light of choice. I'll have to try one under that Budmaster GOD panel though. Hmmmmm.......

She lasted 88 days, I took her down on the morning of Day 89. Harvested weight is 486 grams, so I'm hoping for 3 ounces dry. Cross the fingers and toes. I'm gonna do my best to let her cure. I have some happy "accidents" to dry for a taste in about three or four days. BB says the long cure makes her more hallucinogenic. I'd sure like to find out how true that is for myself.

Thank you BM and Sue for the kind compliments. My soil was very hot and lacking in magnesium. I've been feeding her epsoms and Mary's mother's teas to her regularly. I'm loving her colors. I'm hoping she turns black. It's pretty wicked looking with the orange hairs.

Beautiful harvest Sue! Congrats kinda looks like the Narco Purps I just cut. Took a Red Poison too. Both gorgeous. Can't wait to see how my DD turns out. Shes moving along.. She has finally caught up to and passed her roommates.

High high high... high... brushing off the trichomes... did someone mention my name?? Sorry to disappoint..I don't remember the genetics but I dug around way back in the beginning when we were starting out with this DDA and found it but I can't remember... sorry.

I do however have 8 Dark Cream and 9 Dark Devil plants going now ... DDA is starting 3rd set of leaves and the DC is in the big girl room about 25 days showing some black. No pics yet but I will not let y'ains down.

I'm going to try and get a pound yield dry from the DDA. That's my goal. Wish me luck.

There was a question about when to chop the DDA - what I do is wait for all the fans to fall off and wait a few more days or until there's a nice few days without a lot of RH in the air. I.E. don't chop when you're going to have 3 days of rain and don't put the buds in the jar when its really humid either. Common sense right... don't ask me how I figured this out. Lets just say it hurt... I don't do this with my other flowers just the autos I run...usually around 75 days. I've got an auto that I'm running now that I'm waiting for all the leaves to fall off, the buds keep getting fatter no more pistols either... look at the calyx, as long as they are fattening you can keep it going. For autos I don't really worry about the trichomes color/transparency.

So yeah all ya'all are killing it in purple, I cant wait to join in for some more fun and merriment. Black is the new purple!

Weighed the DDA harvest again. Down to 237 grams after hanging for two days. Another couple days before I think about jarring her up. It's been raining every day, so it may take a couple days longer. These softball-sized buds need extra time. No need to duplicate BB's sad mistake in the cure.

Was creeping in the shadows and watching all the DDAs grow I've had the seeds for a few months now just have had a full garden so In anticipation of my blackberry Kush only having 3 weeks left a dark devil went in for germ 4 days ago and is now above ground will post pic but the girls are sleeping still

Well out of the shadows SoloVoodoo. How exciting, another garden joining the group. I should go back and see how many of us there are now. I never thought to keep track, just wanted to get the thread up and running.
