Dark Devil Auto: A Community Grow Record

@Rifleman , @Tead , I might have missed a chapter in the hempy grow guide talking about the strength of nutrients to be fed to plants. Through flowering I was running about 50% strength Fox Farm trio nutrients. As the plants progressed (3 DDA) into flowering I gradually increased it until I was running full strength. In the last week the two older plants are obviously not happy about something. Spotting on the leaves, some burnt tips, yellowing. The third DDA is about 2 weeks younger and looks fine. The two DDA showing their unhappiness are about 2 weeks from flowering. I am wondering if it's a combination of the nutrients being too strong, and the plants winding down? They reduced the amount of water/nutrients they were drinking by about 1/2 in the last two weeks or so.

What do you think?

Cut the nutrients back to 50% all the time veg thru flower/finish?

Believe I've mentioned this, hmmmm, ruffly 123,347x

Lol

Full nutes toast the girls, half is plenty
Maybe push em a little depends on the nutes, but NEVER Fox Farm Trio

Ok back to yer regular schedule thread

If it goes anything like what Rifleman has done in the past with DWC, my guess would be, HUGE DDA!:D

Ooooooo that sounds lovely. GDP pollen donor?

I pollinated DDA with ATF, GDP, and ACDC

GDP and ACDC crosses both showed incredible color like there Mama, ATF hasn't been grown yet

You see? That's why I didn't @Chris Scorpio you. I figured you had said it somewhere in this thread but I either missed it, or it didn't register, or I couldn't remember. And I didn't want you chastising me....LOL

I'll write it down.

I use AN pH Perfect 3 part. All of my DDA claw from Nitrogen, and show excess N after cure by being hard to keep burning. At 21ml ea into 4 gallons H2O, I am far from pushing the envelope. I've found less is more in my DDA garden. YMMV. :rollit:

Im not sure what they put in the nutes over your side or if they just wanna sell more so they tell you to use more. Now obviously i start low but only like half of what the low suggested dose is. And before i get to flower im usually at least half way into the strength spectrum for autos. Zero burn. This dda in a little pot seems to be showing deficiencies in flower. Granted ive not been at FULL strength flower nutes but ive been using lowest reccomended strength. Could be her just finishing off though

I started at ¼ tsp maxibloom per gallon. At day 50+ my big DDA is taking a full tsp (still less than the recommended 7grams/ga) per gallon and she keeps chunking up buds with no signs of def or burn. This level of nutrients burns the heck out of my sativas, but not DDA.

Well I know it's too late for the two older DDA auto plants. At this point I just want to keep them alive till I can harvest them. I flushed both of them thoroughly with PH balanced water and then fed them 50% strength nutrients. The third one though will get 50% strength nutrients till she's harvested.

Now what about the Blueberry photo I have growing in my flowering tent? I have been feeding it full strength nutrients since it went into the flowering tent about 4 weeks ago. It is, at this point, a very healthy plant with no signs of any deficiency or toxicity. It is in a 1.3 gallon hempy pot with 100% perlite. Will I need to reduce the strength of the nutrients as it nears harvest time?

I find a lot of different arguments for and against flushing. Personally I reduce nutes by half about 2 weeks before I flush for 5-7 days. I don't know if it's wrong or right, it's just the standard for my garden and DDA won't be treated any differently.

I think a long flush helps me because my buds are hung to dry and then smoked. No jar cure, but lots of terps and unmolested trichomes

After 2 weeks in the root cellar curing...she's back in there for the long haul (I had to shoot some photos of her!)

What are your plans for her Blew? With all the purple I’d assume a good columenif b-caryophyllene, great for topicals. :battingeyelashes:

Lovely way to show that bud off. You got the lighting perfect. :bravo:

We got cloudys. Not the best looking or biggest but she staaaanks and is frosty and greasy as hell so im happy for a jar of "personal purps". Im always gonna make sure i got something dark about. Not even smoked her yet and im 100 percent sure ima be gettin her again for indoors.

OMG.... that was stunning! Dripping in oil! Oooo.... I know how she filled the senses while you harvested. I’m getting ready to take two of my own. :slide:

I too plan to always have purple buds available. You see now why bobrown14 grows a whole shelf? Lol!

4oz off the first DDA, just under 5oz on the second run plus about 6 grams of DDA fem pollen in the fridge. All in 3 gallons of coco under LED. Harvested the first at 69 days, the second at 73 days and have rounded up about 200 DDA beans so far from the second girl.
What a joy it is indeed, to watch from seed to harvest, these beautiful gifts grow.

WooHoo! :yahoo:

I’ve always fed mine full strength, and this last time I actually paid attention and noticed I burned the hell out of one.

Next grow I’ll cut way back and see how little it really takes. :battingeyelashes:

If it ain’t broke, why try to fix it?

I flush very gently for two weeks. I plug the hole and fill the pot, count to ten and let the excess drain out. I repeat this every two days until I harvest.

It gently soaks the nutrients from the perlite. I’ve been doing this for over a year now and my product smokes down to white ash after the cure is done.

I agree....a long flush is the way to go.

Time to show them off. Last week of feeding. They’ll start their flush on Monday.

DDA 9 is stinky as she can be. :slide: DDA 8 is about a week behind in development and is just beginning to take on the mature fragrances.

I love growing these magnificent plants. :green_heart:

I misunderstood. I take mine when they flush to cloudy and before any amber shows. It’s a zippier, racier, edgier buzz. :slide:
