Dark Devil Auto: A Community Grow Record

I am fully aware that this is an auto-flowering strain. But:

She only gets 11hours of light per day

I wonder if this will in any way shorten the seed-to-harvest time, or if it'll just produce a smaller plant than normal. DLI would be a factor in the latter, I expect.

Unfortunately I dont have a dedicated auto space. She has to share the available space in my only tent full of photo plants. From my little bit of research it seems that she will be a small plant. I tried to compensate with a nice size Hempy bucket, and recently upgraded my lights. The lights seemed to have made a difference in just a few days.

If I had a spot I would pull her out from the tent every night and let her sit under a few fluorescents until morning. I am a believer in DLI, I give her all I can.

I am planning a run of autos only over the winter to see what my lights can really do.

Snuck a drying stalk outside in the sunlight to get a shot of her true colors....

:eek::yummy:

So good - thanks for doing that. Blew - did you grow these in your greenhouse, with only daylight hours?

Gosh, these are pretty plants. I have an urge to plant it all over town.

I sympathise! I have some DDA seeds coming and I want to plant them all over my garden. I can problem only fit one or 2 though.

What do you folks who have grown it out say to planting 2 in a 7gal pot (using docbuds high brix soil etc. - so will adjusting it for auto timelines). Outdoors I’m expecting I won’t quite get the size of some of these indoor ones because of light hours, so figure 2 could share a pot. What say y’all?

:Namaste:

Time to show mine off again. :blunt:

DDA8 finally caught up to the flowering coloration and let her leaves go blue green. :slide:

They're running almost two weeks apart in flowering development.

I'm certain I'll get DDA9 in on time. With only about 4 weeks to go I may have to take DDA 8 a tad early. If so I'll cob the entire plant. That'll potentiate the buds and make it more than it'd be as just dried and cured buds.

When I relocate I'll get a tent to replace the closet and probably grow 3-4 DDAs at a time. If this is all the bigger they'll get with hempy I'll just get more into the space. :battingeyelashes:

Oh! :love::yummy::love: what a gorgeous pair :D

This gets me so excited. I am hatching a plan of growing 2 together in a large high brix pot, outside this summer. I expect they will look very much like this! :slide:

The colours you’ve got coming out of them are awesome SUe. The DDA 8 is a pretty cool photo :battingeyelashes::love:

Well I sure don't want this thread to die a slow painful death. Here are a couple pictures of my best Dark Devil auto plant. I very carefully pollinated a couple branches with some prized Northern Light pollen from a plant that produced over 28 grams. And as my past history of chucking pollen will verify I've probably pollinated half the plant. Anyway, here she is.

No, never did that but I did knock my 600w light fixture down onto 4 flowering plants once viciously splitting the main stalk in half. They survived for 5 more weeks and were harvested.

:thumb:Harvested almost all my DDA#5,

I took starts on July 11, the Humboldt strain,Candy Cane/Blue Dream Mr. Nice turned out to be a male, of the starts it was the only one to have all 4 starts successfully grow.A very vigorous strain, I was surprised when I found two of the clones in pollen.

The Humboldt strain was a winner in competition last year so I decided to use the pollen on my DDA#5 bottom buds, there were few white pistoles left

Left the rest of DDA#5 to grow out seeds, probably only a very few.

I gave away a bunch of photo plants today but kept one healthy very young male Columbian Red Point cross. I am considering pollinating a few lower buds of my DDA if he pops in the next two weeks. Everybody is crossing something with DDA these days so I figure why not me? I get some slight red hues in my red points, and my DDA is turning very dark purple already.

I don't think the supercrop will hurt me. It really tightened up the buds on other strains when I did it on purpose, plus she is still young.

Nice pics Ganjag! Purple. I vote that you plant more!

Cheers Friend,

I second that. :battingeyelashes:

The supercropping did nothing more than make her stronger. Don’t you just love cannabis?

A general question for those of you that actually take note of these things....how many days typically pass before you see flowers beginning on your DDAs?
