Dark Devil Auto: A Community Grow Record

So I lost a good bit due to bud rot, oh well, will only be growing indoors in future so should be a bit easier to control.
Here's a pic of the top of my main cola with bud rot removed, I managed to save quite a lot of the lower half of the cola, but not pictured.

Now I managed to keep enough for a cob, on Sue's advice.

and also this.........

, I watch for the trichomes to flush cloudy all over the plant. She’ll develop red oil in the trichome stalks. Are you seeing that yet?

I saw some trichs with what looked like red oil leaking out of the bottom stem on mine last week.

And here's something interesting, it had been doing the initial sweat for around 20 hours and I thought it looked a bit too wet, so opened it but it wasn't really moisture, just good stuff. So as I was re-sealing it, I decided to try and flatten it a bit so the center would ferment and also dry quicker, so I was squeezing it as the vacuum was on and this happened.

I guess that red oil leaked out o_O

oh and I also got to smoke a little that I quick dried, very nice it is indeed, I can see why there's a lot of interest in this one and not just for the colour.

Peace

Hi Folks. Some great grows and beautiful pictures around here this summer!. I have this DDA That I think I planted in April (15?). Shes been good. A little smaller than I thought she would be in thte June and July sun in a 25 gallon pot...

Anyways I just wanted to share some pics. Seeds courteous of Sue and (rifleman?)

I think she might come down tonight or I might harvest from the top down and give the bpttom buds a few extra days as they still have bright white pistils and seem to be foxtailing//////

Cheers, Friends,

I have been experinmenting with silver thiosulfate to induce sex reversal and it seems to have worked. BUT....Either I started too late or did not spray enough... or something else? The male flowers never gave pollen.

Oh my gosh lazyfish...she’s lovely. Can you leave some with the male flowers alone to see if maybe they have something to offer? They look to me like you could go a bit longer.

A pretty one she is. :bravo:

Pyr0... WooHoo! :high-five: that seepage is simply moisture, at least that’s what I suppose. Everything from these beautiful plants comes out purple when you get the color. They stained Chris’ husks dark purple when he cured his.

Yeah, I think Sue's DDA stock was produced by @Rifleman . He'll probably be interested in your pictures.

Do you follow the "don't consume anything from a plant that's been sprayed with STS" strategy, or do you only spray certain portions of the plant and consume the rest?

Hmm. Interesting question.

I think the sts inhibits ethylene production in the parts of the plant that are sprayed and I don't think the plant will transport the sts to other parts of the plant that were not sprayed. If the plant did transport it I think I would see male flowers on other parts that I did not spray.

I only sprayed the 2 most very bottom branches and that is the only place male flowers showed up. I will not smoke the parts that were sprayed but I will probably try the bigger top buds. The sts solution is on the order of 0.025 molarity and I only used less than 2 oz of the stuff so I don't think I will worry too much about the top buds.

BTW this was an experiment for me to actually see if the sts would work and my ultimate plans are to reverse F2 Ultra Dogs to make S1 seeds.

Cheers,

I used to spray the feminizing spray until someone suggested using an artists paintbrush and brushing it onto the nodes you're wanting to effect. For me it does two things. First it saves me a boat load of spray as they is no waste hitting the leaves and other parts of the plant. I too apply the feminizing spray to bottom branches and have no compunction smoking parts of the plant where I did not apply the fem spray.

She looks good and ready, but I agree with leaving the lower buds for another week.

Peace

Here are a few photos of my flowering DDA plant. I guess it started showing pistils about 10 days ago? Not a very large plant. Not sure if it's just the nature of the strain or that it is being grown in a hempy pot. The four main branches appear as though they will fill out nicely with buds.

Very nice beez! :high-five: She look pretty normal for this stage. She may not get any taller, but she’ll focus on filling in.

We got purple!!!!

:yahoo: Now the real fun starts, at least until you harvest. Lol!

I cut the top 4 nodes and left everything with white pistils below. Maybe a week by the looks of them.

I may be cobbng soon! :yahoo:

:yahoo: That DDA cob bit I had at Chris' was the best energy I've had with cobs so far. Oh please let mine do about two oz so I can cob and still have flowers to smoke.

DDA 9 will be the producer this run. DDA 8 is taking too long, and we're running out of time, so barring a miracle...... which come to think of it happens with great regularity in my life. Lol! Ok, I'll let go of the fear and anticipate they'll both finish respectably.

Speaking of finishing, Sue. How long do you reckon it will take my outside DDA to finish flowering?

Are you able to see the amber crystals with the purple background? How long for inside DDA plants to run their flower cycle?

You could try setting #8 into your flowering tent for a few days (≤ 7) to see if this jump-starts things.

IDK if it would make any difference, and to maintain the same amount of light per day, your flowering room would have to be ~50% brighter than where those DDA are currently residing.
