Curso's True High Brix!

Yeah it was just 1 of thousands of thoughts I had, I personally hate hydro and it hates me back, it was aimed at hydro growers, but with your logic applied it makes sense that the "drier" hydro methods seem to look better like aero & fog
Oh I get ya and what you were aiming at. I just think the people should focus more on the general health of their plants and not the number on a refractormetor. I honestly don't care at this point what the number says. Are my plants healthy? Are they happy? Are they growing loads of resin? When the answer to those 3 questions are yes...Who fucking cares. Don't get me wrong it's a fantastic way to know where your plant is at. But once its there, man, I don't worry about it.

I really can't call my plants high brix any more, I don't know what the number is.

Couple things I have learned as a grower. I don't sweat the numbers until I yield. Why add stress to something I enjoy doing. If I sweat all the small stuff, it brings in bad vibes to my grow. That's just not cool. At the end of the day the only number that really matters is your final tally and if you hit your goal or not.

At this point, the refractometer is more a tool to confirm you're already doing the right thing. I need to get a soil test probe to measure ERGS. That will give us useful info too.

At some point, once everyone realizes that high brix methods MUST be incorporated in one way or another in order to produce high quality produce....a FINAL brix reading for a crop will be a selling point. Much like it is for an apple, or a tomato.

I'm labeling jars now:

Jack Herer: 16 brix
Lemon Paki: 14 brix

etc. I'm trying to educate my folks about it. I'm also trying to get them to like untrimmed buds.....I show em how quick they manicure and how well those sugar leaves make joints.

Now Doc, MUST is a strong word...High quality produce can be produced any # of ways...There is no wrong or right, only healthy & unhealthy plants...We don't need some ultra-elite high brix grocery store, there is already too much separation in this world!!!!

I get ya 100% Doc and agree. I take readings usually 3x in a grow once in veg and after the first defoliation in flower and generally before they get washed.

Legit..We aren't growing tomatoes bro...We're growing the best quality of cannabis possible. There are ways to achieve this and they all point back to the basics of high brix growing.

High brix is nothing new...its as old as dirt its self.

I don't sweat the numbers I just use it as a took to see where IM at if something IM doing adds or takes away, there's certainly a difference ppl notice in a high brix bud even if they have no idea what brix is, most ppl thinkIM talking about thc % I have to explain it's not ,and just an indicator of quality, and winery's & brewers have been using the test for ages, it helps get the idea across, it's amazing how little ppl know about the food they eat, even those that desire to eat organic healthy food, the look on sometimes face when I explain that the organic section of the produce dept veggies may not test any higher than hot house hydro lol

I just got caught up Curso, The last round of pics was something else! I love seeing the centers of the buds having that lime green, happy, exploding growth. Certain plants of mine have the same thing. I love it. I see your defoliation is working really well, too.

What HPS bulb are you using? And how often do you changer her?

These plants are the happiest I have ever grown, thanks bro!!. These pineapple skunk are just awesome. The #7 bags sure do make a HUGE difference.

Cheap bulb bro. Apollo or some shit like that I think they're like $25 on amazon. The 600w light might be getting replaced with a couple LED panels after this grow is done. I want to put more light in there but man I really dont want to pay for a 1kw running. My Electric bill is to high already. I planned on doing this once we moved but I have another round going and I'll probably start another after this goes into flower. I started 2 ak seeds too. I have 3 dead pots in the veg tent I'm going to try to add some life to them ;)

I had to defoliate, small space big plants. Plus there is such a gap between the times you spray in flower that the plant had a chance to catch up before I really needed it to have leaves again.

If you are using The Magic Butter Machine to make edibles....edible...I stir in a bit of Maraschino Cherries and the juice.:thumb:

This I will try. It would be a really nice addition to glycerin too. Cherry/vanilla sounds pretty fantastic to me. Great call OMM!!!!!

I'm going to make a medicated savory butter too. Probably some kind of roasted garlic, chive, parsley, salt and pepper and maybe some chili's and a touch of white wine. The butter comes out so nice from the machine that the possibilities are pretty much endless. Most of my friends are chef's as well. We've been brainstorming with it. We've come up with some interesting ideas. We'll see how they pan out. We can add butter/oil/glycerin to just about everything in one way, shape or form, so I am really looking forward to this harvest and playing with some medicated food.

I was checking out the seeded Cookie plant and there were a couple really ready to pull seeds. So I took one and planted it, wtf, we'll see what happens. I also planted 2 afghan kush. The 6 seedlings that are up are cruising along and will probably get transplanted into 2gl smart pots sometime this weekend.

The plants in flower are starting to swell up really nice and it looks like the first Pineapple Skunk should be ready next weekend. The rest are a week or so behind. All but 2 got a transplant/tea yesterday, the 2 that missed out are a little bit behind. The older of the 2 pineapple skunks is swelling up very well. I am very happy with this strain, it'll be hanging out for a while. The same thing is happening with the older of the 2 GSC, it's getting nice and chunky, like its mom was.

I vegged one of the Toxic blue 33 in a 1.5gl plastic pot and the rest were in 2gl smart pots, just to see what would happen. This toxic blue 33 is much, much smaller than the rest of the plants. Probably 2' shorter than the rest. Lesson learned...I chucked all the small plastic pots.

Also...When all the clones died in the hydro grow I took mine there. I thought they were all Cookies and Sour Diesel #2, well apparently there was a Chem Valley Kush in there too. So...I am going to snatch a couple branches from that plant and run them in 7gl pots. The one that is finishing in hydro has basically taken over that half of the grow. I want to see what it'll do for me with some training and care in soil. I really like that strain, it has great parents SFV ogk x Chem VII (I think) and it was by far my favorite from the last harvest. I was wishing I had another shot at it and now I do. Thank mother nature or karma or whatever I'm pretty happy bout it. I'm probably going to try to keep that strain around for a while. It's fantastic!!! So it looks like I'm going to make a mom out of one of these clones.

Sounds like a man with a plan! I gotta get a few new beans, IM hoping I get to do one (order) b4 the usual yearly xmas order but if not I will get my gsc,SFV, durban poison , afgani #1 and high CBD strain then

I'm still going to grab that TGA pennywise, I've just been to lazy to take a road trip :) We've been blasting wax a lot lately, it doesn't seem to be very drive friendly.

i'll do a video and put it on fb the next time we make some (next weekish) or farmer john fourtwenty has a great video on bho.
i'll be looking forward to that.
