Hi Cultivator..

Quick question. Is house and garden root excelerator and voodoo juice much the same thing? And do the same job is there any point in having both or will one do fine.. in your journls you mentioned buddas tree boost for flowearing is that buddas tree meta boost? Thanks

I think around £1500 but there may be some discount to be had through 420. Its a big investment but the panels really are quality. You get what you pay for at the end of the day. Check the webpage out. Ninth Planet LED Grow Lights UK The Titan LED is the one i talk about. I havent seen any of the others perform so I cant comment on those, ive only seen the Titan and the Quasar lights.

No they arent the same thing mate. The roots excellurator (gold bottle) has beneficial bacterias and root stimulators such as seaweed, the voodoo juice is soley beneficial fungi. The bacterias and funghi and macro and micro nutes combined all have different effects and when combined give a thriving root zone. Think of it like your digestive system, many different enzymes and bacterias working together to digest nutrients and make them available and deliver them into your body. Plants are the same

The Roots excelurator is concentrated and goes a long way in smaller grow set ups. Its expensive but its worth it. Also its not necessary to add to every feed, a couple of times per week is enough once the plants are rooted. Same with the Voodoo juice. I add voodoo once per week in veg and up until end of week 2 of flower. By this point the root grrowth starts too slow and focus starts on producing flowers.


Id mix in Great White Mycorrhizae with this mix also. these 3 products combined will cause explosive root growth. I must mention that I have not tried this combination in soil grows as I very rarely grow in soil. I use this mix in coco coir mostly but also hydro.

So the Buddhas Tree Products are reasonably priced and work really well. The Buddhas Tree PK is great it will give big heads, adding the Advanced Meta boost will make plants better quality. I mix up boosts but that is a simple and effective way to add weight and quality to flowers.

Just remember though that environment is way more important than nutrients.
 
Heres an update at day 28 of flower (from 12/12).

Plants are filling out nicely but they have definately slowed a little. The HPS plants dont look great, they are struggling to produce flowers. This has nothing to do with the HPS light but because of the extension cable i had in the tent and its bright red switch on 24/7. Ive recitified that but to say how much of an effect it will have is unknown yet. Im hoping plants will pull around but time will tell.

Im suffering some nute burn at the moment. Its getting tough the mixes now. Normally i do not need to add calmag to my nutrient mixes but the LEDs are hungry for it. It bumps the EC up by 0.3/0.4 (PPM 150-200) which makes all the difference by the time i add my base nutrient and boost. Im going to have to bite the bullet and install a Reverse Osmosis filter next round. It wastes alot of water which is a problem as water is tight where i live but if i want to run LED lights I have no other option. When i used the panels in the UK this was not an issue as the tap water is fantastic in the region I used them.

Im still new to LED growing really so have to iron out the kinks. But having said that the plants do look good, they just not perfect. One other issue is that i cant raise the lights any higher the way ive hung them, they could do with another 3 inches raised as some of the tops are bleaching due to the insane intensity of these lights. Something else i must consider in my next grow.

I still have 4 or 5 weeks for these plants to finish and alot will happen in that time. If they are 70% as good as what I produced in UK I will be happy, this is just a small place for hobby growing and mucking about so its not the end of the world if they are not perfect but a little disappointing. I know what I have to change for the next round so hopefully we will see some beautiful Amnesia Haze under 4 LED.

Check them out for sure, hopefully soon enough i can get one of those because of two reasons, i tried a shitty 90 watt LED back in the days and it wasnt that bad and also because i think if you used them and they worked for you they should be just fine, i am also a hps lover.:bravo::thanks:
Still gonna have to run hps with it as my grow space is alaskan cold haha, which is good and bad.respect bro keep em rolling, growing...

That is very informative, thanks for taking the time to explain that to me. It answers my question perfectly. I will be using all this in a rdwc set up. I think the system will hold around 210 litres of water... so would I just add these root additives to the mix every week when changing the water.

On the environment side of things I have bought a bluelab guardian to help me keep an eye on what's going on. I have a 8" RVK for the exhaust fan which is probably a bit overkill for a 8x4 tent however i plan on getting a fan speed controller to help dial in the temp. Do you use fan controllers? I also just bought a hailiea 300 water chiller to keep the res temps down. I have just about everything to get the grow on the road soon.

I hope you don't mind me asking for advice along the way. It's very much appreciated.

Yea, I was using the the mars pro series 160, had 3 up and running in a 5x5. I 600w hps with a raptor air cooled reflector. I use hyper fans, they are loud, but are cheap on electricity. Everyone has told me that you have to use a led that pulls alot of watts to get good results. If that is case wouldn't it be cheaper to stay with hps.

I grow multi 600w hps rooms. and if you have good panels and swap like for like it shouldnt cost any more in power. i wouldnt run less than 600w power draw led. the light spectrum with good led is more catered to growing than hps. its just finding the correct panel. i take what people say with a pinch of salt, i need to see with my own eyes the results.

As for the oil its pretty simple to make. you need 100% alcohol like everclear and you basically wash the bud and evaporate the alcohol off. if you look on youtube there are lots of tutorials, im not sure i can post the links here.

Yes mate, that is correct. Ive checked out their website and they do some great deals, I'll be using them from now on, thanks very much. I ordered some feminized Incredible Bulk seeds from else where to get me started for now. I'm hoping they will turn up today or tomorrow, exciting times.

Thanks for not minding me asking questions, I'm most likely going to be asking you a few over the coming months and I will also start a grow journal once everything is ready and I've got my hands on a digital camera to upload safe pictures. I'm going to throw at you the equipment I have available to me and see if you can point me in the correct direction of anything I may or may not also need.

The grow tent I have available for flowering is a Secret Jardin one: L240cm x W120cm x H200cm
*2x Hortilux HSE 600W 400V and 1x D-Papillon 315W. I plan on running one Hortilux either side of the D-Papillon.
*1x Green Power Professional - 4 Way Contactor Timer - 4000W to run those 3 lights.
*1x Smscom Hybrid Controller 4A to control the intake and out take fans.
*1x Systemair RVK Sileo 200E2-L (L1) 8-Inch (200mm) In-line Duct Fan (1008m3/hr) for the out take fan, I have a 8inch Phresh carbon filter to attach to this.
*1x Systemair RVK Sileo 150E2 (A1) 6-Inch (150mm) In-line Duct Fan (428m3/hr) for the intake fan. Should I get a Phresh inline air filter for this?
*1x Hailea Water Chiller (HC-150A) 250-1200LPH for 400L in case I need to chill my reservoir.
*1x Ecotechnics Unis CO2 Controller.
*1x Superpro CO2 PPM Controller.
*1x co2 canister which I have to refill at my local shop.
*2x oscillating tower fan. I plan on putting one on either side of the tent to circulate air.
* A couple of fan silencers

I'm looking to purchase a Nutriculture Ebb & Flood EF420. L172cm x W62cm x H31cm. Doesn't say how big the reservoir is. I'm going to use clay pebbles to fill up the top part of the ebb and flood system. I'm thinking to grow between 8 - 10 plants. Do you think this is suitable for the equipment and room I have available, I was also thinking maybe I should use a SCROG on the area as I should be able to access the tent from both sides to get to my plants?

I also have available to me:
*1x Grow tent for plant propagation or cloning which comes in at: Lx120cm x Wx60cm Hx162cm.
*1x Grow tent for mother plants or vegging plants which comes in at Lx120cm x Wx120xm x Hx200cm.
*1x Systemair RVK Sileo 125E2-L (L1) 5-inch (125mm) In-line Duct Fan (323m3/hr) and a 5inch Rhino carbon filter to fit it.
*1x Systemair RVK Sileo 100E2 4-Inch (100mm) In-line Duct Fan (184m3/hr) and a 4inch Rhino carbon filter to fit it.
*1x Lumi Dimmable (300w – 660w) Digital Lighting Ballast Kit which I have either a 400W or 600W Sunmaster metal halide bulb.
*1x T5 4ft 4tube which fits perfect in the propagation tent.
*1x T5 2ft 2 tube for over a humidity dome or cloning machine.
*1x 20 site aeroponic cloning machine.

Is there anything else you think I mite need for my flowering tent or just in general? I've listed the other bits I have available to me as I know for you to help me best I need to give as much information as I can. Once I have all the prep ready ill start a grow journal and be able to provide regular pictures and updates of whats going. I'm going to need to buy a few timers and the little bits I may have missed. Would you recommend digital or analogue timers for fans and water pumps?

I was originally going to use mother plants and clone them but after speaking to you I've changed my mind and decided to practice first from seed which I do agree is most likely the better option, so that's why I have these extra bits I have informed you of above. I'm most likely going to need some bits for germinating seeds as I didn't purchase those as at the time I was going to use clones. If you can think of anything which may be useful or which I will need please let me know.

Wow your girls are looking amazing Cultivator, you can really see you know what you're doing! I bet your going to have them kinks ironed out with the LED's in no time, I'm also sure you will have those slight problems dialed into perfection on your next run for sure too. I see your having some problems with the EC, what is your EC coming out of the tap at? Do you think I may encounter the same sort of problems you're having with getting a high EC when adding your nutrient mix? My EC out of the tap is usually between 0.5/0.6. Cant wait for some more updates on your grow, I love the purple glow those LED's give off, so lush. I hope I can grow some beautiful nugs just like yours with a bit of practice :);)!

seems like a decent enough set up for 8 - 10 plants. I usually run 4 plants per 600w light. I use analogue timers always unless you want short flood times then id go digital for flood timer.

my ec out of tap is 0.7. it doesnt cause problems when using hps as i dont add calmag, its causing probs now because i must add calmag and its bumping my ec up super high when the nutes are mixed. You might have some issues running hydro with water ec that high, but maybe not. im not used to running high water ec so i only have to go off what im doing here. if its 0.5 you should be ok.

You know not so many european growers on here and i am so far from any grow shops...
 
Just a timer for lights to come on and off mate? If so I would use a grasslin analogue timer, that should handle a 600w hps without breaking and are about £10. Or get a contactor/relay and you can add more lights if need be. most contactors have timers built in but avoid blackbox and green power boxes as the fail all of the time. people make their own and sell them on ebay and they are fine.
 
Its day 35 of flower now or 5 weeks. Buds are getting really dense and are need in staked up now. really heavy for this time in bloom, much better than the hps plants. However some of the plants have heavy burn from nute mix on the fan leaves. I ran 3 days on water and calmag only to get some of the salt build up down.

Today and for the next 10 days or so the mix will be:

calmag 1ml/l
Plagron Green Sensation 0.8ml/l
Topped up with Ionic coco bloom to 2.0ec.

Im not sure if the nute burn will get worse or if more deficiencies will show. Basically now the base nutrient is only 0.8ec(400ppm) when it should be double that. However i must do it this way or plants will just burn. i will give it 1 more week then i will turn on the uv light, that should start getting the bud frosty. I only have 2 pictures today but i will get some more up soon.... You can see the damage from the hot feeds, but not all of the plants have this.

Wow it must be so heavy that I see one of your fat colas went falling down like that. Crazy. The nute burn seems quite bad, Cultivator. I hope it doesnt get any worse than that. Cheers. As always tho, very nice grow run and skills. It just shows. I'm a fan :)

The closer to the floor it gets the less distance it has for more sunshine reflection :)
 
its the worst nute burn ive ever suffered but im aware of what is wrong and why. All i can do is try get through the next 4 weeks with this grow and get a water filter installed asap. buds are very heavy for 5 weeks. These plants will get a full 2 weeks on plain water to help clean them out at the end.
