Crawdaddy's First Grow in 10+ Years Greenhouse/Soil - 2013

Happy Toker Tuesday to you Chronic!

When youre flushing you dont have to Ph all the water first just the last couple gallons that will stay in the pots. use your hose then only Ph whatever you nomally do for feedings and finish with that amount of Phed water or maybe a little more to be sure.

I have a buddy that grows in the sunshine mix with Perlite (IDK what # it is sorry) and uses GH 3 part nutes and has never checked or adjusted the Ph of his city tap water and never has any issues. He does fill milk jugs and let them sit over night though. I was growing in Hempys at that time and using the same nutes and had to adjust mine which was the same city water just a few blocks away. I dont know if it was the medium or what but if it works for ya why mess with it

Thanks for the info Cascadian, I probably should have never started measuring pH, just see if got a problem then worry about that.

Like I have said before, sometimes the hardest thing to do is nothing.

Re: Crawdaddy's First Grow in 10+ Years Greenhouse/Soil -2013

In my first journal you can see how I thought I was having PH problems so I was flushing, doin the Ph up and down chasing it all over the place and goin crazy in the process. The real problem was over feeding and I was burnin the shit out of my plants. Just give a good flush to get rid of the sledgehammer then do your half strength feeding like you mentioned before.

What I did this time was spread 1Tbs of Garden Lime per Gal of soil so 7 Tbs per pot and kinda mixed it into the top inch or so with my fingers then watered. Havent used my 100 dollar PH pen at all on this grow and see no signs of issues at all and I was using hose water up until about 6 weeks ago when I got my RO unit.

Re: Crawdaddy's First Grow in 10+ Years Greenhouse/Soil -2013

Cascadian yea good advice, checked on the ladies this am before coming to work. On one of them the problems seem to be progressing, so going to flush them all out real good with hose water and then a gallon water with 1/2 strength ferts.

I will save my pH pen for when I try hydro.

i hate when nutrient stress happens. it always happens to my plants lately -_-

So the good news first.....

Got my Lady bugs! got way to many but o well, only size the local grow store had...

and here they are swarming on back of chair...

Now the bad news, my plants are getting burned, at least that what I think it is, these are the worst examples, every plant has it but this one the worst....

That is only future bud that that seems to really be affected on rest of plants seems to be only on leaves.

I just ran A LOT of water straight from the hose into each pot till the water was flowing out of drain holes, then gave them all an extra burst, hopefully this clears out the junk. I am hoping the burn stops progressing now.

I am going to have to experiment more with Sledgehammer in the future, the idea behind it seems sound, but the directions are lacking IMO. But no more experimenting with this grow, I need it to produce well if i not F*** it up already.

Thoughts anyone?

Re: Crawdaddy's First Grow in 10+ Years Greenhouse/Soil -2013

It is far from messed up. Maybe just water it for the next week. Give it a break from the nutes. Let the soil balance out and then give it some ferts.

I am trying to do ferts (1/2 strength) only once a week and just water in between. Can't say I always stick to that routine though.

Just make sure that you plain water flush after your sledgehammer flush..........Dont let the sledgehammer sit in the pots any longer than an hour or so before you flush it out. (you just want it to sit long enough to loosen the salts a bit)
I think the sledgehammer screws up the PH buffering ability of soil unless its completely flushed out.
Its crazy that you have to "flush after your flush"........but it works!

Re: Crawdaddy's First Grow in 10+ Years Greenhouse/Soil -2013

And............if your using the entire FF nute lineup............DONT feed twice a week like the instructions say to do.
Once a week is plenty..........unless you start to see some N-def....
The FF nutes are VERY strong as well as their soil.:Namaste:

Re: Crawdaddy's First Grow in 10+ Years Greenhouse/Soil -2013

next time use lemon water to chelate minerals instead of the sledgehammer. contact them and tell them you want a refund or something :thumb:

The lady bugs are against the spider mites, yea?
Love that "organic" solution!

Yep, and they are good luck.

Makes sense, they should put that in their instructions.

I think that or use 1/2 or 1/4 strength.

LOL b.real not worth the trouble for 20 bucks, if I need to flush in the future, until I run a controlled experiment and determine best way to use sledgehammer, it will be straight H2O.

Overall, the funny thing is my indoor plants showed no ill effects, but I think since volume of soil less then 1/4 what it was in outdoor plants it was able to flush out the sledgehammer sludge.

Re: Crawdaddy's First Grow in 10+ Years Greenhouse/Soil -2013

And on a different note if anyone did not know the Dept. Of Justice just released new guidelines on how the will handle pot issues...

Eric Holder Says DOJ Will Let Washington, Colorado Marijuana Laws Go Into Effect

Read the article all 8 points make pretty good sense to me, except the driving while 'drugged' thing, but only cause no real test to tell how high one is and how it relates to driving, but I could handle that.
