Couldn't Resist A Christmas Auto Grow

I have no idea what you can access in SA, but I want to point out that there are good synthetic nutes that use fewer bottles than that and will give you the same or better results than trying to sort out which of those additives are doing what to your grow. ;) IMO organic soil is only an improvement if it makes life simpler, not more complicated.
Ha! Shed lol... this is only my second auto grow ya know. I enjoyed doing a coco-perlite blend for a couple of years but I feel somehow that most organic soil builds (unless using things like bat guano which is destroying bat populations just as one example.....) should be better for the planet... creating microbial life forms as the other shit we do destroys them? I feel happier in a living soil... and I think that it is a life giving force and you can feel the living stuff differently.... ah man this wedding cake is making my imagination fire 🚀

Wow! It only took me 2 hours to read from Page 16 to 29. Sorry I got behind. Your plants look good, Carmen especially the Russian Rocket. Are they both indicas? I know you were saying you needed more indica.
HG Hey :) Thank you very much for taking time to read through all of that! I'm finding it hard to find breeder specs but as far as I understand it, the skywalker comes from mazar x blueberry and the kush from the OG. It is indica dominant. I think this is going to be a tiny yield suitable only for Thumbelina as she glides down the river on a leaf. Thank you, I am rather partial to the Red Russian too. I just think she is such a pretty plant. It's a cross between Red Russian and Lowryder#2 and I'd have to look up what makes up Red Russian as I just don't remember, but I was looking for high thc indica dominant plants to treat a variety of things, like stiffness, pain, anxiety and trouble sleeping. I have the Bruce Banner for my days and that I love love love :yahoo: Fortunately my day time appetite is small as I try to keep a clear head until mid to late afternoon, depending on mood and energy at the time, but Iike to have that contrast of being straight and then having the BB for pure enjoyment. At the moment even the wedding cake is not calming me adequately in the evenings and I am thinking of trying a blueberry in my May grow and I have a Cheese too although I can't remember which, blue cheese maybe ... yum yummm

I’m so happy you all were able to figure it out, there is a wealth of information in this journal 🌸 and they look great!
Hey Lexi, thank you so much. I thought I had replied to you earlier but it looks like I didn't. Sorry I probably got confused because we were chatting in your journal. I think there is so much to learn still and I am always thankful to the great community members who share their knowledge and ideas. So many and too many to name.

Wow Gee, thank you for making the effort! I really appreciate that. ⭐

In my last grow I top dressed... I wonder how long the goodies in the essential blend take to be released if watered in from a top-dress.

This time I had the spent soil from the last grow, some fresh unused soil from the same bag and I was a bit short so I added some well used potting soil in which I had been growing chard (which uses up nitrogen right?) Then I added some essential blend and mixed it all up before putting it in the pots. The cloth pots are 20 Ls each.
(Then I added the extras that I have listed on that feeding chart.)

How long after the introduction of the offending substance would it take for a nitrogen toxicity to present in such a soil? That might make it easier to narrow down.
Im not sure about where the nitro came from but if I was using this soil and amendment I think I would mix it all together as per the amounts per litre of soil, water it, and let it cook for a month.

Together they look quite good, but most of the ingredients in the amendment are slow release so you need to mix them in the soil for a few weeks to start working.

If you get this mix right I think it will grow very well.

Its good looking stuff, I would use it.

Those native to the Essential Blend and the Orgasoilux? Not including the bottles of stuff I have?

Thank you Gee! Maybe my next run I should just add water, What are your thoughts?

I use nitrosol only to boost when needed. I know it has more N but I use so little. Else high quality worm castings can be used almost at any amount and won't burn anything.
I agree though. I grow organic because it works for me. I feed nitrosol maybe once a month or even two months. And once a month a few handfuls of casting go onto each pot. That's about as much work as I am able to put in time wise and it's working for me. I would say give a few days before doing anything else. Just to see if what you have done is helping or not.
Then again she is an auto so a few days might not be suitable.
Fingers crossed.
So nice to have some clouds in the sky after this week of brutal sun.
Have a goodie

Just yesterday I was thinking I must build a worm farm It would have to be material that would withstand our weather because it would have to go outside. Any ideas for me LR?
It is nice to have cooler weather for a change. Enjoy the day mate.

Sunday February 5th Update

Today I am going to highlight the flowers and trichomes on these Thumbelina sized budlettes. To my eyes it appears that these little buds are more advanced on the path to harvest than the Red Russian. Do you think I will do more bulking? Will they put out more pistils before they are 60 days into flower? Will they go as far as 60 days flower do you think, or is this a fast finisher?

Since flush and change of res water they've had not extras. Today I top fed some BioBloom and some mycos, and topped up reses with 2 liters each of plain water.

To be continued...

Once again the white balance is slightly off but this is the best I could do under the light. These are the four branches of her quad. This is my Red Russian.

The blends, not the bottles. Next grow I would try 1 pot that has all the amendment mix mixed right into the soil and try water only, or water only and topdressing when/if needed.

Thank you and thank you to both. Ok, I am going to do that next time... nothing added except a top dress possibly as they turn from veg.

I would read the instructions to see how much amendment is recomended for a 20l pot and mix that in and water it at least 2 weeks before planting, and a month is better, then plant in it, try water only, and only topdress more amendment if you think its needed.

See if it works better than constant topdressing.

The amendment mix is very good ingredients.

Ok that makes more sense to me, because you can't dig it in later in the pots without damaging roots, so best to do it early. I hope that this is going to make life even easier then! Self watering, self feeding with a small bit of training and sit back and watch the miracle unfold. It's beautiful. It doesn't get easier than that. Thanks!

Oh yes! They're going to chunk up nicely!
 thank you Otter

Tuesday 7th Feb Update: Two happy plants
Screenshot (353).png

The plants are doing fine. No new issues. A way to go still and I am learning a lot as this process unfolds. I am just filling the res every day or so with water now. I am adding the bloom and poured the remaining liquid down from the top. They seem very unfussy to me and so I think this can only improve in time.

Thank you for looking in.

As long as there are new white pistils the buds are stacking so there's hope for a bigger harvest!
There are pistils :)
I love the angles of your pictures and they are so clear. Red Russian looks beautiful😍
Thank you :) The Red Russian smells so good. She has a gentle fragrance more than pong and I am picking up guava. I thought it was apricot but it is guava. Should be a nice one to put me to sleep.

Edit: I just looked for terpenes that smell like guava and I found this. I don't know about all the other chemicals but there is limonene in there, mentioned. What is limonene good for? I found this.
