Cottage 420's Organic Perpetual Indoor Garden

Quicky here.....does Kelp go bad in a spray bottle with water, or does it always smell like ass?

Probably it can go sour... I make a "seaweed" drench and jar it and leave that @ room temp for weeks and it never smelled bad.

Then there's one person's ass smell and another person's ass smell. To each their own as they say. I prolly think at least 1 persons ass smells pretty sweet, just sayin... and if it doesn't I'm gonna grin and bear it! hahahaha <-- see what I did there!?

How are you making your kelp tea or whatever is in your spray bottle? I fill my spray bottle @ the time of use (except for tonight).

I make 2 types of kelp tea.

1) Kelp meal soaked in water (can grind it down too) then into the fridge - not hot water just soak it.

2) Seaweed tea - Seaweed is also Kelp but its been processed and I reconstitute in with water. It's a Maxicrop product. This one can be left out in room temp.

The Kelp Meal tea, will smell a little bit. Once it smells like ass, and not my favorite ass; toss and make a new batch. The ass smell is bacteria.. if you have a garden, even this time of year, just water the soil with it. Here's a little inspiration:

Hey Canada peoples... here's our cottage ... getting a new dock as we type. Ice finally thick enough to drive on.

Notice the Canadian Hydro cottage number in the upper right there... been like that ever since I was 10 years old. I took it as a sign! Yeah u right! :passitleft: whats this 420 stuff, puff puff.

This pic is the bunkie aka guest cottage (main cottage in the background) and swimming dock where we set up for the summer and jam, puff and what not! Those big trees are White Pines and the cottage is on a granite rock!! No soil to speak of. Lots of granite tho... food for thought.

If you ever see Cottage 420 just pull over & say hi; tell em Bob sent you!

Cottage looks awesome buddy :goodjob: best place to be in the summer time.....maybe I'll have to stop by @ Cottage 420 later this year!
Beauties up there man. Looks like familiar terrain. My brother lives in cottage country, just outside Haliburton. We take full advantage of the snow and speck fish in lakes far beyond...lol. Lucky to be up there during the thaw, mild temps will lead to thick black ice.

Good call on the dock structure too.....crazy what shifting ice can do. You'd know on a point, lol.

Nice and secluded by the looks of it...gets a lil' busy round may to september round my area...but I can still pee outside...fok'em' if they can't take a joke......you have a composting toilet I assume...looks like you would have to blast for an outhouse...lolool...cheerz...h00k...:hookah:

wow bob what a setup thats nice your lucky to have someplace like that to go to get away from it all,do you do any ice fishing?

I agree. Beautiful. I couldent imagine the cold! I cant take the cold here and it rarely freezes. My moms from the midwest and she says the colds different here in Calif. More penetrating, you feel it more.
That dock will be fantastic come summer!! Nice life bro!
Thank you for all your help Bob. I would of never got this far without you. Im 1/2 way through my 3rd tent grows harvest and its wonderful!
Great day 420

Hmm dont wanna argue with momma logic but the cold goes right through me when its -10 out lol. Brrrr! . Beautiful cottage. Have a question for ya bob.. my little plant is 3-4 weeks into flower and is fading, not in a good way. What sort of 'tea' could i add to help recharge the soil?? I tried mixing some water in an empty bag of kind soil to get the goodies left on the sides of the bag and mixed great white mykos in with it. It helped her some but i think she need more.. maybe just do it again? Thanks bob!! ..

I am not bob, but my recommendation would be a cup of EWC with some Kelp. I use raw ground kelp......about a teaspoon per gallon of water and 1 cup of EWC. My lemon tree loves it...my mango tree loves it and my cannabis loves it.

C'mon up... We will be celebrating the end of cannabis prohibition in Canada on Canada day, eh?

Hey there Guy... it's a lake about 60km direct south of Algonquin Park in Hwy 62. So not that far.... It's a OPI (private island) :smokin: great location. A lot of folks fish for Lake trout this time of year. They catch some nice ones. In the spring the ice sinks ... its here and then its gone in 1 day mid April every year.

We bass fish in the summer when the beer aren't biting...

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

OK so a garden update is due.

I got to worrying about the mite issue and the plant that has/had them. It was the PMB plant that was WAY in the back. Must have gotten them from the soil is my guess. Eggs were prolly there dormant and as soon as the humidity dropped into the 20% range time for life.

Anyway I had no way to get back there and do a a proper treatment so instead of worrying about it, I harvested Labyrinth #2 and DT #7. Lab #2 was in front and not quite ready to harvest. I could have let her go another 7-10 days to fatten up. By that time I'd probably have a full on infestation so chop chop.

Lab #2 will be a smallish yield as she didn't have much time to fatten up. Lab #1 is more than making up for that so I'm good.

Now the DT #7 woah... turned out she was the large pheno. She was massive. I had to chop her down in pieces just to get her out of the flower room. I wouldn't be surprised if she's close to a pound dry and trimmed. The twin colas turned out to be from here and not 1 from each plant. After I tied her main colas back from the lights she put out those 2 beasts in place and they are also massive. I have several colas hanging the drying line that are at least 3 feet long a few are longer and they all have side branches...

So now I have room in there to get at the PMB #1... she turned out to be real tall but skinny, branches are not very thick and most need support which sucks.
I'll reserve judgement for now. If I don't see improvement she's gonna go too! I have a full room of VEG plants that will finish in >60 days so I won't really miss a beat if she has to go due to under performance and general lack of cooperation.

The good news is the Dolato #1 is looking REAL good. Probably could harvest her @ 50 days. Lab #1 she's looking REAL good as well. I could chop here any day but she's fattening up and doesn't look like she's giving up anytime soon so will take a test bud and put it under the scope and take a look see. Her calyx are still swelling and packing on the frost.

I have a Lab #3 in the back behind Lab #1 - hard to get pictures of her but she's a few weeks behind but starting to loose fans and color up some.

DT #6 - she's the plant I pollinated a few flowers and so I'm letting her go until the seeds are mature. I'm starting to see the calyx split now so wont be long maybe another week tops then Lab #1 will be for sure ready. Running out of space to hang plants! Not complaining.

Next round is way over due.

OK so this month there is a blue moon (2nd full moon of the month), it also happens to be a super moon (moon is closest to the earth) AND a full lunar eclipse.

Whats that mean for farmers? Time to plant your seeds.. best days are Jan. 20-21, Jan. 24-25, Jan. 28-30. These are the best days to plant annuals.. of course cannabis is an annual. The Feb 1-2 are the best days to harvest and specially medicinal plants. So that looks like my next harvest day IF I can hold off that long.

I will be starting seeds today or tomorrow for the spring round. I already have a full VEG room with overflow so I will have to make some choices. But that's good, extra plants always a good thing.

On to pics:

Family Picture - before the mini-harvest - Left side with DT #6 foreground & #7 - most of the big colas are DT #7 middle to back. DT #7 is probably the largest plant I've grown so far:

Family Pic - Right side - Lab #1 on the right in the front, Lab #3 behind her (not really visible), Lab #2 on the right in the front (chopped), in the middle front is Dolato #2 - she's still in stretch (has the green tie around her) and the tall girl in the middle back is Dolato #1. She's actually starting to turn out really nice.

Family Pic - right side slightly different angle. These pics are taken with me standing - the tops are head high and above. I'm 5'10"

DT #7 - Twin towers.. hard to really tell just how big these colas are.... look at the first family pic - they are in the center. Think a baseball bat size. Originally I thought 1 was from DT #6 but when I got in there to chop, DT #7 was much larger that DT #6.

Dolato #1 - side bud - she's actually getting pretty close to finish here. No new pistols or very few. Time for a test nug! woohoo

Dolato #1 - another side bud:

Dolato #1 - I tried taking this with the flash... and I have a light setting that isn't for flash that I forgot to adjust. I adjusted the camera to try and normalize the light from the 1750K lamps... but then it make the flash turn blueish white apparently.. kinda sorta cool looking. Brings out the trichomes ...this plant is getting pretty frosty.

Here's my creative pic - Lab #1 close up - can't decide which one I like better. Something is getting lost in the transition to 420mag - pic isn't as sharp I don't think??

Yeah - outhouse.. 2 seater with a view! (on the other side up the lake view). Pee outside for me is a must - urea for the trees, it's a thing really!

A lot of urine in the outhouse ... makes for an unpleasant sit down. Composting toilet is next tho. Got any good ones you know about?? Point me to em. It's time for one I'm thinking and the tech is there now.

Pretty secluded but yeah gets busy on the weekends and holiday weeks. We are about 3 hrs east of Toronto, so a lot of city folk like to come up to the lake and motor around... tubing and general mayhem. Not many V8's on the lake tho, thankfully. Lots of loons... and they like my music and will hang out and wake us up in the AM with a loon meeting.

Thanks Sticky... yeah very lucky. Right time right place, stumbled into it when I was a kid fishing with my dad. The original owner got caught with his pants down and his wife pretty much gave it away after .... we were the lucky folks that showed up @ the fire sale.

They ice fish the lake but the cottage as it is now is a 3 season camp. . Although the Bunkie use to be an Ice House - the cottage was off grid for a long time. So pretty much camping but yeah the best camping you can do for sure. We love camping. I even don't mind painting the cottage. It grew on us for sure and keeps getting better and better.

Wow.. thanks 4D, you just made my day and I was combing trichomes out of my hair earlier. I thought I was having a great day. You just put the icing on it! :Namaste:

Yeah cold.. meh I'm with ya, my wife is Russian from St Petersburg. She gets cold when the summer breeze blows. It's all about wool bro. She taught me that. I used to HATE wool of any kind. I sleep with a wool blanket in the summer time now. We live in SE PA. We'd have prolly already moved to Oregon if not for our cottage. Oregon is very similar in a lot of ways to PA but more people here.

A yup.. 2 hand fulls of EWC (worm castings) and a handful of Kelp Meal in 2-3 gallons FILTERED water... stir or bubble overnight and water in the next watering.

1 handful - 1/4 cup

Fade in VEG I usually attribute to root bound plants. So how long in what size container?? The other thing is time. For how long in that container. Of course there's over watering.

If root bound they start yellowing from the btm up.. I have a few right now like that. I have to water them every day or they wilt. If your soil is waterlogged (doesn't dry out) then just transplant to another container and add in some EWC and kelp meal. You should be good for another month.

Bagged soils usually run out of gas in containers is my experience. I'll hit your journal in the AM ... off to puff and hang with my girls.

Wrestle Mania II staring the "fight girls" - Ruby VS Rosie.. in a 1 tooth battle to toothlessness! Rosie our new pup just lost 3 of 4 of her baby teeth. She can't bite anymore... ahh darn. Our other dog Ruby is now dragging her around by her hind leg, then letting her go then double leg take down with a 4 legs up pin and a win.. and repeat until Rosie gives ... she's stubborn too.

Ruby: "you want some of this? You feel lucky do ya, you feel lucky punk?"

Shes probably root bound then.. been in that little pot, not sure the size less then 1 gal maybe lol, since she sprouted the 7th of December. Pretty sure she needs some 'food' too cause i didnt add any kind soil to her pot. It was a mix of roots organic, fox farms happy frog and ocean forest i think. The kind soil is a water only hot soil that you add to the bottom of the pots and they feed off it. Maybe i just bubble a little bit of that and the kelp meal together if i can get it in time. Thanks so much mr brown.. happy to take your advice before i do anything and ill get a good few pics of her in the morning for ya. Shes sleepin now. .

Hmm ill have to try harvesting on the 1st.. was gonna harvest my dd next week but she can go the extra week no problem. Would really like to benefit from the universe any way i can.. really neat info there man! Plus ya said she can go up to 70 days with no ambers if i remember right so id love to see what 62 days does for her. Today was day 49 of flower and she has about 60% cloudy 40% clear trichs and no ambers that i noticed.

Those plants are so crazy tall.. idk how you deal with it but i love your jungle. The twin towers make me laugh everytime lol. Super frosty huge colas.. really interested to see how much the 7' weighs out to be!! ....

Gorgeous garden and soil feeding info as usual bob. I've never voted for member of the month but I would say your as deserving as anyone on here. Those DTs are huge!! At least 6ft tall I'm guessing. How many watts of cobs are u running in that space?? Do they burn the tops? Currently trying to decide between a cob/qb kit for my 4x4

Just a Drive-by Mister BBrown. Bummer bout the bugs.. I might even be running my mouth, and we have to remember I don't read much,,, but that word is a trigger for me, I understand your trying a mellow way to deal with mites,,, but, mites aren't something that are always there. Least they shouldn't be..... Azamax. A proper 3 spray regiment, mites are gone. Azamax is just a neem product. But spray everything you got going into the flower room. But of course when you grow pot alot,,, eventually mites WILL find ya. Just a question of when.. The only time I get mites is when I don't treat everything as if they have them. And I like to treat everything as I start flower, but every once in awhile I slack off and then I get them. And when you have a perpetual grow,,, having plants at all stages of flower, there is always that 1 or 2 that are just about done,,, so you don't spray them,, and then they infect the ones you just finished a spraying. Mites suck... I have three that just got done with their last spraying. I spray with Azamax,,, till the shit runs off the leaf. I even get them soaked and cup my hand around the mainstem, and kind of jack it off while spraying. But just one direction,, don't get carried away. That makes sure everything gets soaked. Spray, wait 2-3 days,,, repeat, them once more in 2 days. And if you spray everything complete,,, it will kill all mites,,, cept the 'super mites'. I haven't seen them yet. But once they are 100% gone,,, then I only spray them once or twice when I flip them.

Flowers look beautiful. Labyrinth #1 is looking pretty good.............. or the Volcano Sugar?? Nice... Or was it the DT??? All look good my friend. Your pics look beautiful... Coming up there..... GL and Keepem Green

i could stay the whole summer at that place that looks beautiful there bob,i also love looking at your garden man what a jungle in there and the twin towers damm those are impressive love the colors those labs are sure pretty I'm like you i like a nice variety and thats what you have going good job man, good soil info to thanks!:cheesygrinsmiley:
