9 Vero 29s the way I run them would be 3 COBs / driver at 2100mA per driver each with a trimmer pot that will be 300w for 3 so 900 watts total. You could easily grow with 6 VERO 29s' in a 4x4 ... so DIY you could probably do it for $600 all said and done... I have my VEG room dialed in that way and I'm thinking of changing that setup and moving all the COBs into my flower room, even with the intensity turned down 1/2 way I think it was too much for VEG plants.
I got my last set of COBs after I had plants in flower and didn't want to mess with moving everything but that was last round. I had a little glitch with my surge suppressor the other day ... it tripped off for some reason. I think I found one of my AC plugs wasn't plugged in tight enough and caused an issue. At any rate I'm about to harvest and I will have more room to work with, that and I have at least 3 Chemdawg plants that are going to be into the ceiling so I have to do a work around which means moving lighting and it's a good time to make changes....
So in a 4x4 tent I would do 2 sets of 3 VERO 29 COB arrays and go linear...so I can adjust spacing as required... all my COBs are linear for that reason. So 2 sets of 3 with 2 2100mA drivers with adjustable voltage and pots to adjust. Linear means 3 sets of COBs on a straight rail not a bug square with 6 .... the linear setup works for me... I've got a short ceiling @ 7' and sometimes like this coming round I've got some monster plants. I need a lot of flexibility with the lighting placement - linear setup gets that for me a big square setup won't have as much flexibility. It seems I'm always adjusting lights both height and spacing so linear for me.
I can easily grow 2 plants with 3 VERO 29 COBs... so in a 4x4 I could grow 4 plants with 6 COBs...HTH
LEDs haven't got the support over here that they seem to have with many users across the pond and from what I've seen here. Is it all to do with power consumption and/or heat control and/or bud quality...or all of the above?! I can't fault them for the results you're getting mate, hats off to you sir
