Copperrein's Summer 2021 Outdoor Soil Grow

Life is nuts at the moment. Weather damaged the tower that gives out house it's internet so I'm updating when I can from the fireworks tent in town. We've had rain and storms for several days now. The plants seem to be okay-ish with it. DDA is kicking ass. Purple Kush is really coming into her own.

Saturday another tornado rolled through just north of us. It destroyed the internet for this area so apologies for being sparse.

It has been non-stop shit weather but thankfully, as Tra says...my girls are used to a little roughing up so they're faring okish. I'm seeing spots of nibbles from buggos here and there and I may spray tonight ever so lightly.

Aaaand I forgot to photo DDA! I'll get one later. She's really taken off! I may get her to fully circle her 7 gallon GroPot before she starts flower. I think my irrigation system gets here today. Not that I need it but the girls are loving the tropical weather and rain...maybe they need more water?

The farmers are saying we will indeed have a dry fall which also means a dry harvest. I can't imagine being a farmer right now and having my whole life wrapped up in the weather and climate.

Oh, in some of the photos I have included a 4' stick for size reference aaand yes I know Hulkberry is only half trained. I've been beyond stressed:

Oh my lord! The internet fixer folks popped by yesterday afternoon and did some ninja shit with our dish. That combined with the new tower mount and antenna means I can now upload ALLLLL the photos from my tablet without having to upload in tiny batches! I just dumped a load on the gallery in under 5 minutes! (laugh if you must but it really is a vast improvement :D )

I totally forgot to share a recent experience: my IRL grow buddy gave me some of his Grape Soda to try. What the fuck, guys? It smells and tastes exactly like grape drink. It's damn weird. How...what terpenes? A year or so ago we got some 'Carnival Grapes' which had been bred to taste like fucking cotton candy. The weed had a nice facemelt effect but also maybe some anxiety? attached to it? That was probably just me but meh...Grape Soda would be something I'd grow for the aesthetics and the 'Whoa neat!' factor. 'Grape' flavor doesn't even really taste like most grapes so I have a pre-existing dislike of it already. BUT YES...I smoked someone else's weed! I love sharing with other growers/smokers <3

So yeah...the garden. LSD is acting weird as shit. She's suddenly (week or two) begun to exhibit purple striping in her stems. I mixed up some calmag conservatively and added a healthy amount of Soil Activator. The places where branches join the main stems are weak. As she is now she'll never make it through harvest without lots of support. I'm going to try to MacGuyver a free-standing scrog frame around her at some point. These next 10 days are going to be fucking stressful but I don't want to give up on her.

I'm so far behind training. Thankfully I've really improved this year in terms of supercropping and have been breaking larger woody branches with no negative reaction from the plants. This means I can supercrop to get woody branches to bend, allowing me to keep the plant in the shape I wanted to train her to before life got busy and she grew past the ideal point to train. If any of that makes sense.

White Widow loooooves abuse. She's always the first to recover and bolt. Fucking gorgeous genetics, that one. Same with Sour Diesel. She's a sativa beast. I normally don't like how fat indicas look but both Alien Rock Candy and Rudeboi.OG are beautiful. I'm amazed they've turned out how they have: Andy and Ollie were goofy as hell when I started them.

My Triple Cheese SCRoG is looking like it'll produce a lot of flower. Again...I've been so busy and stressed and all that I haven't had time to maintain her or any of the others how I would have liked to.

I pulled some clones from Critical Purple Kush and Alien Rock Candy just to see if I can figure out the cloner my friend gave me. Should there be a bubbler in there? Right now it just has a tiny water pump recirculating. And yes, I know I need to cover the other holes so light doesn't get it. I only have so many tentacles and right now they're all occupied.

@NuttyProfessor I found you a giant lamb's quarter and a neat white thistle (I think). They're growing where I dump my hydro leftovers. Fucking massive.

If anyone has any input on my choice to try more calmag on LSD please tell me. I'm at a loss with her.

Thank you! Love you guys! :green_heart: :thanks::tommy::battingeyelashes:

Hi Copperrein! Looking goooood over there. :p I've often had the reddish/purple coloration on stems and stalks. Not sure why, but my plants were healthy and it didn't seem to present any issues at all. All of your ladies looks beautiful, including the LSD. I'm not sure if CalMag will change that but it likely won't hurt. My first instinct (FWIW) would be to maybe get a little oxygen into her roots either with H202 or a slow feeding straight down the center so she can suck it in herself? That's all I've got, but she looks beautiful.

:ciao: These pics are of the Blow Dream auto in my tent. Note the purple stripes? :cheesygrinsmiley:

If it were just that I wouldn't be all fussing about it but she just feels weird. Not brittle but not healthy turgid. Also the consistent tacoing is concerning.

You're such an awesome grower, btw. Just thought you should be reminded of that :ganjamon:

Hmmm. Well, it's been "feels like" 100+ degrees here the last few days and my outdoor ladies have a little taco going on occasionally. You've got the bags on cardboard but is there any sort of riser under them for air flow? I've got mine on pallets for that reason. I would look at the breeders description of her likes/dislikes if there is one. She may just be more sensitive than the others. If it's really warm there (when the fucking storms aren't rolling thru) I would suggest a handful of ice on top of her soil, just to cool her roots down a bit as well as wrapping a piece of burlap or old white towels or something like that around the black bags to prevent absorbing all that heT at the roots. Those were tips given to me last year by the Master, @Amy Gardner and it was very helpful to my ladies. You'll figure it out, because you are also an awesome grower! :high-five:

Ah, good insights! Thank you.

Unfortunately this morning's storm:

Resulted in this:

I knew she was weak and tried to add support around the bases of the branches but nope. I'll try her again at some point. Maybe in hydro.

My poor little gimp

I’m from Texas but have fond memories of the Michigan countryside. Beautiful place. I really loved the area around Tekonsha. Played a little rugby out of Battle Creek. Michigan is a really cool place.

It really is when we're not going politically insane but I suppose that's everywhere now, huh?

I love the UP. I'd live on the keweenaw :green_heart:

The branches on LSD didn't look totally wilted this morning, and after feeling terrible for just leaving her all messed up last night, I decided to try and save her. I made a super quick cage and pulled 8 clones from what would have been the biggest colas.

On the bright side I am so tickled with DDA.

Autos are fun as hell. She's so fast.

Everyone else is alive. I'm still behind on training but yeah, I think I should have a pretty harvest.

What monsters!

@Nev I looked this morning. I did make an attempt at topping. It is technically topped...but because I was worried about stressing her, I topped as soon as I saw a 6th node forming and did more of a...FIM? Whatever the hell this is:

And her this morning before and after her last training:

The past 10 days of monsoon has caused stupid amounts of growth in the rest of the garden and they're all looking like 70's porn bush again. Pun intended. Ugh, you guys don't want to read me bitch about the weather. I should be happy my plants look this good. A lot of the michigan growers I see are getting their asses handed to them by the weather.

LSD may still produce ok. I pruned the branches I didn't think were going to make it last night and this is her this morning:

Aaaand the rest of the team:
