Copperrein's Summer 2021 Outdoor Soil Grow

Morning! Haven't got out to the plants yet because this adorably ugly little asshole decided to yeet itself out of a nest I can't reach. He's getting rehomed to a local rehab. Also he projectile-shat all over my hand and front. Good morning so far.

My wife and I foster neonatal kittens (bottle fed). I have been shat upon many times never get used to it

Yay I am caught up. Your journal and girls are phenomenal! Your training techniques are light years ahead of mine.

Yeah, went through a phase where I wanted to have a human skull.

Since it is an 85 miles drive from my outdoor grow; I put them out in June to avoid shit weather. Usually, heat stress my girls inside to prep them for the hot Southern Ohio days.

Buried my girls down to the waterline and never really have to worry too much about watering.

Hopefully, you get that seven foot plant!

Damn, late congratulations on photo of the month! Awesome photo and very well deserved.

Time to get higher and go to sleep.

Damnit---double post---

Holy hell...you have to drive 85 miles to get to your plants?

Thank you for the kind words...it really means a lot getting positive reactions from people I in a non-creepy way look up to. Don't tell anyone but I love southern Ohio...mostly for the Miami and Jungle Jim's :D

All my training is just reckless experimentation...I only understand in a very basic way why I do what I do. There's a couple amazing bonsai artists I follow that have really shown me many plants can take a lot more stress and damage than one would assume. Often that damage leads to some pretty fat and tight plants.

So yeah...life's weird again. Found a baby starling yesterday morning. I was going to take it to our local rescue that we've used many times before. Apparently they're full. Makes sense since they're the only one within 1.5 hours.

So looks like I'm rehabbing a projectile shitter:

Starlings are incredibly intelligent birds so chances are this animal will become a pet since it will imprint on me and never really be wild again. I'm trying to limit the amount of time it sees my face by wearing a mask so hopefully I can just release it...I really don't have time for another rescue. If this doesn't work my current names list is:

Toki
Spliff
Birdie Sanders
Pyro

Thankfully my outdoor ladies are trucking along just fine without needing to be fed every 20 minutes:

See...this is what happens when I complain about everything going too smoothly...I get the bird from the universe.

GUYS! I think I have mites!

I'll spray the plants down (once I figure out where I put my pump sprayer thing)
Aside from a little pest damage ladies seem happy. We had a weird storm blow in from the north last night (which never happens) and it took down my beautifully constructed privacy fence. The deer fence I was using as a scrog was catching too much wind so I pulled it carefully and ordered a 3" mesh soccer net type. If more of the plants had grown through it would have done some damage.

Howdy do.
They do look healthy. What do you use for getting rid of the mites? Is it some fancy organic stuff or synthetic.

Oh! And Is you weather getting weirder every year? I've noticed our seasons are out of phase..the conspiracy cats would say it was the government using that HAARP technology.
Oh! And what's a soccer net?? Is it the same as a goal net we use in football:laugh:

Good morning Copper Saver of Birds Lover of Plants :) :) :)

That does look like mites. If you look on the other side of the leaf that’s where the real fun is happening.

Thank you and yeah...I went back with my chili garlic stuff and soaked that plant and the plants around it. I'll hit all of them tomorrow once my new pumpy sprayer arrives (I lost mine :< )

Birb is good. Every time I feed him, he backs up on these gangly long legs and his bare little bird butt extends slightly, much like one's face does when 'doing the duck face' thing...and then exactly like that this little duck lip of a cloaca pew pews the poo poos.

soccer = football
Yeah...weather is bonkers. I was reading up on the predictions for the year and tornado alley seems to be a little farther north this year.

I'm gonna try my normal shit, just at double strength. It's thai chili, onions? I think...garlic and soap diluted in water.

Fucking nutters. I'm so completely unable to understand the extent of ignorance within people like that. How does that happen? How is it so easy to gobble up obvious bullshit. Blows my mind.

Good morning! I'm looking forward to my new sprayer getting here today so I can blast everyone with the thai chili garlic stuff again.

I don't see any new damage this morning:

I will be keeping my eye on all the ladies. If need be I've got the SNS I won still. I'd prefer to save that for when it's really needed. Plan C is I have various types of sulfur around here and could prolly cook something up if need be.

I really feel I should start trying to get to 'over watered' and then back off a bit. They seem sluggish somehow. I did a foliar feed with @GreenSafe. This is the second time I've used their foliar feed and I do feel the plants seem to look extra pert the next morning.

Also DDA is normal looking. Guess I need to start training her soon...see if we can change that :D

Oh yeah...changed one of the scrogs to the new netting last night. GO ME.

GUYS! I think I have mites!

Not sure that the markings are from Mites. Mite damage seems to be a random pattern all over the leaf. That looks like whatever insect it is has a pattern where the insects are working in a line in the leaf tissue between the veins. As if the bug is following something in the leaf tissue.

Maybe one of the other growers will recognize the damage.

Oh, wanted to mention about the current Fish Fly hatch which we briefly discussed awhile ago. Last Thursday night there was a hatch on Lake St. Clair and the winds were just right that it blew some over the eastern half of Macomb County. Woke up Friday morning to Fish Flies on the car, truck and boat, and on the door screens. Started work on a long overdue fence painting project and they were on the unpainted wood and we had to flick them off the painted pickets before they became permanently attached.

Oh, and they are a member of the May Fly group of water insects. I think that this year's hatch is a bit early, maybe a week to 10 days.

@SmokingWings Thank you. We have an unusually dense population of leaf hoppers this year so maybe those? My spray seems to be working so far.

Oh my god and when there's that many you can start to smell the bug smell. I'm so sorry.

My new sprayer showed up, but it has a smaller nozzle opening so I need to strain my garlic mix better before being able to use it. Hash bags, it is! (I will alcohol them up the wazoo when done) Makes sense, my lost sprayer was meant for paint, I think.

Bonus: a Robin Moth visited us:

***EDIT: OMG Wedding Cake smells just like wedding cake! WTF is that terpene sorcery?

That moth. It's beautiful. Are they rare? Can you breed them?. If we had awesome creatures like that, I would have a house full of them..
Loving the photography mate..
And does the wedding cake really smell like wedding cake?
Like real cake?? Cool!!! :p

I swear mate...I was watering her and suddenly smelled something sweet and sugary. Sniffed myself, sniffed the water...finally sniffed her. I was stoned as hell tho so I checked again at night. Sure enough! Fucking magic. Someone needs to make taco and pizza weed. Pork BBQ inhaled? Yes plz. Basil and moz....oh man.

Not sure how rare they are. We've had a lot of very weird shit show up here. My all time fav bug:

Darwin cited its life cycle as the only evidence needed to disprove the existence of a benevolent intelligent creator. That's pretty darn metal.

But yeah, all of my plants are starting to smell like something other than 'green plant'. White Widow is something I don't think I've smelled before. It's like the smell from a can of freshly opened button mushrooms. Like really clean dirt mixed with gnome farts. Both a happy smell and a naughty smell.

Rudeboi is definitely getting a little diesel which is such an arousing smell. Not 100% sexy fun time arousing...just like whoa...hnnnggggg....nah nah nah shazzah tah

Both the Gelat.OGs are smelling utterly amazing already. My buddy has a Dragon's Breath x Gelato oops baby strain he's gonna give me seeds from. That could be epic. Whether the clones he had that hermed were really DB, we don't know but I do want to try to track down a little provenance because if there IS DB genetics in the seeds...might be worth a tiny phenohunt? Maybe not?

That is indeed a pretty moth, but remember- from pretty moths come ugly, pot-eating caterpillars...
Moths are the reason I schlep my outdoor plants in at night-
Do you have some Safer® Caterpillar Killer on hand?
You may need it in a month or so- it's harmless to humans and plants, but death to caterpillars...

No, but I do have chickens. Not much survives around them.
