Copperrein's Summer 2021 Outdoor Soil Grow

Thanks Bill, I hope you're keeping well too! If we were talking about a galley boat where there's barely enough room to swing a cat, my balcony with plants is similar, there is barely enough room to swing a pair of scissors! It'd sure be nice to have a big chunk of land hidden from prying eyes to plant a few rows of our favourite plants! :hookah:
Curious where you are in a very general sense. Are politics at least looking like they're moving towards a progressive stance on cannabis?

You spell favourite like a Quebecois so I'm guessing someplace not legal in Canada? Does canada even have illegal areas? What other french colonies can I think of :lot-o-toke:

Haha, I'm way the down the globe in NZ. As for moving towards a progressive stance, last year when NZ held a referendum for legalising, it got 48.something%, so close but still lost, which was a real shit unfortunately. There are still good signs in the local media towards an eventual change but I'd rather it be now, as cloak and dagger growing has it's stresses and near misses.

I misted the outdoor plants last night with the @GreenSafe Foliar Spray. They seemed ok with that so I went ahead and tossed some @GeoFlora Nutrients Veg on them this evening and watered. Then I got distracted coming in to grab my tablet for photos and ended up eating graham crackers while reading @Emilya 's Durban journal. Now it's too dark so let's see if I can remember tomorrow morning.

Also I need to wander out and check on the last hash orphan.

I started my plants super early this year...middle of feb. Snow peas don't go in the soil until beginning of may. This is when I put my outdoor plants out. I normally would have waited two-ish weeks but since we started a new nutzo business and since my personal life is an emotional shit show right now I transplanted outside first week of May. Also I'm trying to see how much abuse a plant can take and what affect it has on the harvest. Plus I figure strains that are better suited for my climate will become apparent by just plugging them into my garden. Shit's that not gonna survive wont. I know what to plant next year for my main crop.

For anyone not aware I live in Michigan. Our springs and falls are not nice and recently have become more tropical in nature.

Anyhoo, I planted 12 known plants as well as what I called the hash orphans. Hash orphans sprung from some leftovers I had sitting in a sieve after making hash from last year's outdoor grow. I put those in coffee cups and left the whole lot outside in May.

All 12 known plants are alive. GG4 got the most wind and is barely alive. One of the hash orphans had survived as of a few days ago but I can't find it again. We do have a woodchuck problem though soooo....

Here's the damage starting 2-4 weeks early caused. Next step is to see what they do.

The ladies continue to handle my lack of care like champs.

Did find some leafhopper jizz on Hulkberry. All my hippie chili spray from last year doesn't smell quite right so I need to get that done this morning before I get my...dun dun DUN....second covid shot! Guys...I have missed thrift stores, antique malls, flea markets, and other magical places the most during the fuckex that is pandemic USA. I cannot wait to feel ok about frivolous outings. squeeeeeeeeeee

Also I might turn GG4 into a budzai. She almost died but is coming back tight and fat. If anyone's seen a truly old mother plant can you tell me if cannabis can handle dead wood like cedars and maples? Once it's big enough can I choke off part to create living driftwood without compromising the entire plant?

EDIT: also Critical Purple Kush has the best gangster lean to her. Maybe I should budsai her, too

Ok sooo....everyone take a moment right now and smoke a bowl. I love you guys but seriously...smoke a bowl or something

Welp...I can't leave shit alone and since my outdoor girls are doing okish I am compelled to throw another stumbling block in front of at least one...maybe two.

GG#4 is about to get air layered around the base to coax out more roots before I split the mainstem and twist the hell out of her. I see a lot of people training weed into bonsai-like forms...but I have yet to find someone using 'advanced' techniques.

The first motorcycle I ever got I took apart as soon as I got it just to know how it worked. I dunno...I meet something new and I need to know all the things.

I wanna see what I can use on cannabis and what I can't. This is probably a horrible thing to watch for some people but ffs I have 12 plants sitting under sun in rich soil right now. I could kill half and still not be hurting for more medicine this fall. Plus I have my tent.

Root Riot is a new thing for me. Normally I'd use sphagnum but hey, my friend gave me his baggie so we're going with these little things.

I'm going to go smoke a joint and ponder on how I want to make my cuts. I don't feel stripping bark is going to be the best way but I am sliding into a manic phase and my judgement can be cloudy when I'm like this.

Being vaccinated is a relief. Everything looking spectabulous

Some of the advanced bonsai growers will trim the roots too. That contributes to the stunted stem and branch growth. I am not sure if that would fit into your plans but certainly something to add to your thinking while hitting on the joint or bowl.

Oh yeah, I may have uploaded a juniper I just transplanted and I had to prune back lots of roots....nope. I did not.

I messed up and googled and now I think I'm in love

Hoooooly shit that trunk

Yay plants. Feeling a little gross after the second vaccine dose so not feeling super chatty.

Hope your back to your old self soon.

Dose #2 - aptly named, because it makes you feel like shit!
Hope you feel better soon, Copper!
It took about 6 hours for me to get back to "normal"...

Thank you all...I felt just fine this morning. I ended up having a couple hours of fever and cramps but Blueberry Cookies helped with the cramps. Not so much the sweats >.>

I went to check on the outdoor girls just now, hoping to just take a group shot but uh...I really need to weed whack back there. And clean >.> It's a mess.

They're fine. I sprayed the garlic chili soap stuff on them after the sun went down last night. The leafhopper spit pile made me wary.

Odd thing... @SmokingWings have you seen any mosquitos this year? By now we're usually swarmed. Was it really that dry of a winter?
