Copperrein's Summer 2021 Outdoor Soil Grow

@Enjoil Might do after fireworks season (my real life job)

@Trala thank you kindly!

These came today. I didn't expect Greg Greens book to be the size of a normal textbook! Both look like brilliant sources of info so thanks to everyone who suggested them

I watered day before yesterday and our humidity has been high so while the plants are exploding, I've got a little soil mold as a result. If it gets worse I'll care. I assume it'll die when the top of the soil dries out. If not I'll figure out something,

Growth is exploding to the point I might need to find new digs for the outdoor girls. Or....the man suggested I just turn the tent 90 which I might do. I'd tarp the bottom (side)

now to our main story:

Starting to build my NFT system for my up coming sponsored grow! SO EXCITE.

Get any mold out of your tent fast... use some alcohol spray and wipe down the tent. I don’t even want to talk about molds! Ahhhhh! Well some are really interesting but yeah.
What? Your a pyrotech? I wanted to do that when I was a kid! For real! I wanted to blow stuff up.!! Your an awesome lady copperrein!
One more ?. Are your plants fems? I was thinking you should get you some cuttings cuz some of that stuff might turn out killer! Like that sour d! I’m excited to see how that sour d turns out for ya!

I have a 10% bleach solution next to it I spray stuff down with frequently. Not all molds are the same and like I said once the soil dries on top it should be fine. You'd hate to see what I do with a leg of beef or a pork loin.

The man and I are both pyros but we don't sell the shells we make, we just make stuff for our own personal events. We do, however, import consumer grade stuff from China and resell. Like Phantom but not lame. This year's been nutzo between covid and a few major seaports having issues/shutting down. We just saw the first wholesale jump in prices last week so yeah...should have a good year on the retail side.

I keep meaning to cobble together an aerocloner but I have so little 'fuck off' time right now. First order of business is my RO table and sink. Well first first is getting the sponsor grow going. THEN the sink.

You scared me! But I have faith you will be alright, maybe it’s beneficial bacteria.. lol.... Yeah, I probably should not play with fireworks but would love to eat some mushrooms and watch you play with them!

The girls are getting too big for the tent so I'll be committing to the indoor/outdoor hardening off shuffle a little sooner than expected.

Did a test run of my very Red Green drip system for the sponsor grow:

Gorgeous build!! Knew you could build an amazing setup!

I'm assuming you're covering the res to keep the light out?

I'd consider putting some dirt around the res, it'll act as a bit of insulation to keep the sun off and keep it cooler.

Very clever to include a bottom reservoir in each bucket!

@BooWho2 :green_heart:

@Rexer Oh hah! It'll be inside eventually. I just built it outside because accidents are common around me >.>

Yeah, I'll prolly pop-rivet some flaps to block most of the light or something. .

I have a crazy idea...if I aero-cloned some plants and made a 6" foam collar to fit in a net pot, could I grow a plant with zero medium in a setup like this if I solve the stability issues? What would the roots do without the need for taproots? Agh...my brain.

Rosenthal's and Green's books are exploding my head. I'm glad I got them before I move the plants outside. Imma change some things, I think.

You are going to rock that thing! You are putting on quite the show! Thank you for figuring out how to upload videos.

Yup, you could grow a plant completely in aeroponics...I'll grab a link to a journal for one....you gotta read and see the massive roots...

I haven't read Green's book but have Ed's. I'll have to add that one to my reading list sometime.

Edit- heres the link!

Gotta move the girls today I think:

Aaaand I underestimated how much 50lbs of perlite really is:

So yeah...I am officially ready of the summer grow! If only mother nature were as well :D
Perlite is great to have extra of! There’s a few good uses for it... I’m sure you will use all that in no time.... my plants have been outside for a week and I’m not too far away from you.... getting close to safe I bet.

I keep forgetting BUT that massive pile of shit next to the grey steel pole barn is our burn pile. This winter was amazingly dry (while still managing to give us some pretty heavy snow...the hell?). Anyhoo, our area has already had one brush fire due to a smoldering burn pile so we've been waiting a little. The little pile of shit in front of that barn is the steel scrap pile. We haven't scrapped in at least 2 years thanks to the prices plummeting because of the 'O-rang-oo-tang'*

I wanted to get more done last night before the sun went but John was feeling depressed so I hung out with him indoors. I uh...saw Waterworld for the first time...while incredibly stoned. I'm still processing that experience. What the hell was Kevin Costner doing back then? Anyways....we were making fun of his acting and the 90's in general and we start wondering what rural burg he popped forth from because he has this weird sorta midwest/alaskan 'Southern Drawl Lite' accent thing going... apologies for profanity but mother fucker's from fucking COMPTON

My whole paradigm is on its ass this morning because fucking Kevin Costner was born and raised in Compton.

RIGHT....the plants:

they survived near freezing temps in the forging area this morning:

They drooping more prolly due to just being watered. The leaves feel turgid enough for the temps and there's no obvious signaling of cold/frost damage. It got fairly breezy yesterday and everyone dealt well so I'm pleased.

fucking Compton....

Some people see mold on soil and go ballistic and into a panic and people in a panic state might make mistakes. They seem to think that mold on soil is just like mold on a cut of beef in their refrigerator.

However, most molds are exactly what a soil grower wants. Molds are part of the micro-organisms that live in the soil and will be digesting organic materials that we all love to put in our soils. When done digesting they exude the nutrients, minerals and whatever else that the plants uses.

Below are two web pages that popped up with a search just using the two basic key words of: soil mycelium
Both are links to general but important soil gardening information and do not compete with any of the sponsors. They might even encourage some soil growers to try out products that some of the sponsors sell.

https://insteading.com/blog/mycelium/

https://www.permaculturenews.org/2017/01/06/mycelium-and-soil/

There is a 99.99% chance that what is showing up on the soil is the mycelium of one or more of the molds in the soil doing their job on the surface organic material because it is moist enough.
