Conradino23's Another Outdoor Grow With High Brix Soil - Air-Pots & SoCal Seed Stock

Re: Conradino23's Another Outdoor Grow With High Brix Soil - Air-Pots & SoCal Seed St

Even if you built your on cob array or Q boards the parts would run at least $1000 for the 6.5 x 6.5 area.

I use a 600w hps in a 4x4 so I guess 1200w could cover your space. Would only cost around $400 USD. I'm looking to get two 260w Qboard kits from horticulture lighting group to cover my 4x4. They are around $350 a piece but should save money on electricity.

I have 2 of the 260w QB's and each is dimmed to 100w each. 4 plants in a 4x4.

when my lights die I'm going to go with two of those 260 watt qbs I've heard a lot of good things about them low heat low power consumption and i like that you can dim them by the time i will be getting them they'll be cheaper to!

Re: Conradino23's Another Outdoor Grow With High Brix Soil - Air-Pots & SoCal Seed St

1000 HPS for sure and maybe some supplemental lighting if LED is not an option.

Re: Conradino23's Another Outdoor Grow With High Brix Soil - Air-Pots & SoCal Seed St

Conrad, evenin to ya sir! Your headed in the right direction with your lighting thoughts and budget. For that space i would definitely go with either one 100W, HPS,..or two 400/600's...How much space up top....these lights will provide lots of heat if needed too , for the upcoming winter. May need to run a lil extra heat in there too for nighttime. Anyhow , great to see you play it 'safe' for a grow , or two,...or three...etc. LOL.

Re: Conradino23's Another Outdoor Grow With High Brix Soil - Air-Pots & SoCal Seed St

Yeah I'm gonna play it very safe from now on. Indoor with few bonsai plants here and there seems like the best option if I wanna stay out of trouble. I have these wattage limits though and wiring in my storage room needs to be checked, cause I've run into a few problems there. I may just call an electrician to get ahead of things.

Re: Conradino23's Another Outdoor Grow With High Brix Soil - Air-Pots & SoCal Seed St

I grew outdoors from the late 70's until around 2012. After indoors for a couple of years now i wouldn't go back out in the brush again.

You could reduce your wattage requirement by 40% using led panels, but it'll cost $40 per sqt or more. That's a lot more cost than hps.

Take a look at CMH, too.

Yeah I just looked at CMHs, is there any advantage of using them over HPS?

Re: Conradino23's Another Outdoor Grow With High Brix Soil - Air-Pots & SoCal Seed St

I run 2 315 watt cmh's aloong with a low wattage first gen mars hydro led in my 4x8 and it works pretty well. If I were to do it again it would either be 3 315's or two double ended 630's. I am building LEDs right now to replace the CMH's with.
So you think LED would be better in your setup? Hmm I just checked a LED with UVA and UVB fixtures, cause I'm worried about flat spectrum indoor, but it'd run me $1,600, so not really for my budget right now.

Much safer my friend... But that depends on where ya live really. But sure don't seem to safe in your neck of the woods to go outdoors.... People damn near everywhere nowadays. It use to suck,,, here I drive 100 miles from nowhere,,, fire the gold dredge up,,, go down thru 10' of gravel and find a Mac Donald's wrapper in the bottom of the hole. You do know,,, growing inside can be habit-forming. Whatever kind of lighting you go with,,, max it out. Don't get by... You'll aways want a bigger light later.... Them tents are cheap, and I woodn't grow without one. HID Lighting is cheaper to start up with,,, but LED's are starting to come into their own,,, but then you know whats what. I agree with what said,,, I love my indoor grows. They are the bread and butter plants. But I don't think anything is a pretty as a big assed donkey dicked outdoor girl.... But for keeping top shelf weed,, alittle 4X4 time would keep the jars full,,, and the growing habit''' growing strong.
