Conradino23's Another Outdoor Grow With High Brix Soil - Air-Pots & SoCal Seed Stock

Re: Conradino23's Another Outdoor Grow With High Brix Soil - Air-Pots & SoCal Seed St

I've grown many a great freebie... Hell just cus they are freebies don't make them second class by any means. Some new breeders just get their genetics out that way, or new strains from established ones. I do shop for prices and the freebies. As long as it's from a vendor you can trust. I just got my order in for my fast versions for next summer,, along with 9 or 10 free new ones, to try.
Hope alls good in the garden,, and Keepem Green

Yeah I see a lot of seeds they give out as freebies, are still being sold, and seeds arent really free. You pay for them one way or another.

Re: Conradino23's Another Outdoor Grow With High Brix Soil - Air-Pots & SoCal Seed St

But if you shop right,,, and granted you can even use the freebies,, they can make the sting of putting some cash outta pocket... But really,, what is the cost of a strain you like,,, priceless.... You can find a seed on the net that will cost you 10 grand,, and is some out there,, and yet you can find a freebie that will keep your flower room full of prime buddage for years... I just spent 150 bucks on a 3 pack of each fast version Sweet Seeds my vendor had on hand. Sweet threw a extra in making it 4 of all 6 but check all this shit out.. You can bet I'll grow the GSC's from Blimblahm or whatever.. I've tried 3 others' variant... See there is another couple from them,, I'd never have bought... Are they winners??????????? Ask me next year,, or I'll be pissed and never grow another of theirs..........

Re: Conradino23's Another Outdoor Grow With High Brix Soil - Air-Pots & SoCal Seed St

You got some nice freebies there Wood! I love my critical sensi star. It is listed a an indica but all the ones I have grown have a more sativa leaning growth structure. They do really well outside and are usually done about the first week of October. The Green love Potion is a nice strain as well but have only seen one seed and its clones grown out. I never grew one outside but have a buddy that did and he loved it. HSO's Sapphire OG looks real nice but have not seen it grow out. I would be leery of the Purple Trainwreck, I grew one just recently and I have never had a plant hermie as badly as that one. Just about straight up male flowers on all the lowers. I have heard that the Arcata cut of trainwreck is really prone to hermie issues and I am going to guess that that is the cut used in this cross.

If I may, IMI, I wouldnt chop the whole thing; if any right now.....take some now and more in a few days and even longer..along the way...the terpenes and sugars are just getting going when the pistils are out like that.
I usually chop weeks later by the look of them. :Namaste:

Re: Conradino23's Another Outdoor Grow With High Brix Soil - Air-Pots & SoCal Seed St

All I have read leads to Paradise being the originator, tho as Con said just cuz they claim it does not make it so. Either way they do seem to have the most legit stock of it. i am yet to run it but have one seed of it to pop if I ever get the space

Luc from PS even said allegedly that he didn't know the parents. He most likely got it from someone or bought as part of the stock of a seedbank that went out of business.

You say DinaCHEM?

My favourite freebie was from Dinafem. Cheese. She is flowering now.

I have had a 50/50 good/bad experience with freebies. I have learned a lot though even with growing some sh1tty stuff.

I never grew anything from Dinafem, so I cannot comment.

I have had some decent luck with freebies in the past. I ran a reserva privada kandy kush i got as a freebie and it was some of the best weed I have grown. I got a couple of Delicious Critical sensi star seeds as freebies and though I have not grown the freebies I had a pack of them that has been real nice, so if it is the same I will be happy. I have also gotten a couple of THSeeds Bubblegum seeds as freebies and I have grown one out for 6 generations and have seen others have good results with theirs. It all depends on what you get for freebies IMO.

Yes sometimes freebies are pretty good, it pretty much depends on what they are and who they are coming from.

yes, Dinafem..
:)

So you too, eh?

Looking for a good price is definitely good way to buy seeds as many of them are sold at prohibitive price tag.

That's a fact for sure.

Yeah most of UDs have pretty impressive finish, which means they pack for 2-3 weeks as soon as photoperiod really starts sliding and they are ready to be picked by the end of September and it really happens quicker than you expect. They managed to spearhead too I can see, kind of typical for this strain. I don't think that any of these is behind, they look roughly at the same stage to me and they are packing nicely. Obviously you can put them in your greenhouse if weather goes to shit, but I doubt there's gonna be any need for it. Another good thing with UD is that you can pick these buds at 80-90% cloudy without any amber and they're gonna be already potent, which comes from my own experience. Stellar work, man :thumb:

Completely depends on what you like. Me? I would start harvesting now and over a period of maybe 2 weeks, top down. But I like early cuts with cerebral highs and not couch lock or narco put you into a coma with one hit weed. If you want more of a high, harvest earlier. If you want more of a stone, harvest later. I look at the trichomes with a 30x scope, and when they get milky, I usually harvest. I will be letting my indica Lebby go longer into amber this year for the later harvest effect and to emulate the harvest time in Lebanon of Red Lebanese. I also have pollinated her so I want ripe seeds. I already harvested the early blooming and seeded sativa Lebby pheno, and she is curing in paper bags now. The Durbans I am letting go and likely will through early October. Depends on the weather here though. It started raining here today. Good to put out all these fires. Not good for the weed, though they are in greenhouses.

Re: Conradino23's Another Outdoor Grow With High Brix Soil - Air-Pots & SoCal Seed St

All this talk about free seeds. You have to buy seeds to get them. So they are not really free. And generally they are culls.

Also the seed prices these days... *cough* Glad I do not have to buy seeds. I can crank seeds out by the thousand and trade for other seeds or cuts. Same with pollen. Or, as I did this year, I got an eighth of Durban in February from a dispensary for $15 on special. There were 40 viable seeds in there. And 2.5 grams of good weed. Not free, but close. 40 cents each, not counting the weed that I inhaled. Did I get free weed, or free seeds?

Another milestone here with this post: 600 posts on 420.

I do like a more cerebral thing. I usually cut that point when I see any red trichs at all. The top bud looks the least ripe. I cannot get up there to see the Trichs but it has the nicest white hairs. I can see very small calyxes that seem like they could all get huge in the next week or two.

Have you ever left a plant out to grow overwinter? Just leave one branch or something?

Thanks everyone.

Well, you can cut an inch off a cola (call it big snip back budding) and dry them in a day or two to see how they smoke. That is what I do with any new strain that I am growing. Snip and taste. Or taste as you go.

As for over-wintering; here in Oregon once frost sets in that is it for blooming Cannabis. I have seen clones and veg plants survive light frost, but not bloomers. They croak in a hurry after a freeze. I had several late unharvested plants freeze on me in Southern Oregon with an early frost one year, even in the GH. They turned black overnight. I made them into hash oil.

In California I let a Colombian plant go into winter one year, as it was just starting to bloom in November. I gave up on it and left it in an abandoned house next to mine in Pacific Grove. Turns out that the lesbians next door found it and watered it though January, and they harvested it. They said it smoked up real good! There was rarely any frost there by the ocean. I also had a friend in Moss Landing let an indoor growing Mexi land race gal bloom well past the amber trichome stage. It got really funky and started to rot in December. Here they would freeze and rot by the end of October outdoors.

I never grew a Purple Trainwreck from HSO, but I grew their fem Trainwreck, which was pretty good sativa-dominant plant. Some strains just herm often not being screened properly by the breeder. Well if you know it herms you stay away and you move onto the next one. I don't know how sensitive Arcata clone is, I think it's a rare cut at this point. Some hoarded clones unfortunately deteriorate with time and they start going intersex due to many factors.

I'd give her a week, but there are plants that get cloudy very quickly while their pistils are still mostly white. Chopped they're usually potent as trichs indicate. How cloudy is she exactly?

Yeah getting a sample is usually a good idea for a plant like that.

this may not be done for another week or 2....:Namaste:

I try not to get more than 5% amber trichs with hybrids and mostly cloudy trichs with sativas.

That's why I like to make my own, but I still buy from the seedbansk, cause I like to try stuff that's out there and there's so much on offer these days that you easily get gobsmacked :hmmmm:

You can do partial harvest if weather allows you to. You cut mature branches first and then let the lower canopy to get ready. That's what they do in commercial grows in NorCal.

It seems we're gonna have the coldest September in two decades here. After cold mass and rain that came from Scandinavia day temps have dropped down to low 70s and night ones to mid 50s. What an irony as it happens after hottest summer in 15 years. This climate is getting so unpredictable that short term models are becoming useless basically. October might turn around everything or just give us the feel of the winter. What I'm gonna harvest in the next two weeks should be fine, but we'll see about Colombians. On the upside I can keep perfect temps in my drying room of 18-18,5°C now which is 63,5-64,5°F with RH of 55-62%.

Lmao neighbors

Some happen to have the good ones, I don't complain about mine, they're mostly good folks :)

Re: Conradino23's Another Outdoor Grow With High Brix Soil - Air-Pots & SoCal Seed St

morning conrad,I'm back from my trip to yellowstone and the first thing i did was check to see how or if the plants were there and they were but not happy they didn't get enough water while i was gone they were drooping and had a lot of yellowing leaves and the skunk i found two i call them tomato worms there green and a couple bore worms that woody has mentioned so i get to the plant and there's a couple buds laying in the dirt those bore worms chew into the stalk and everything beyond that dies i had crispy dried buds rite on the plant picked them off i think i got rid of them and the others don't have any worms there going to be alright thats the trouble with leaving them alone if i would have been here i would have seen them and got rid of them before any real damage, well everytime i leave i learn what to do different next time, you no talking about the weather it's going to rain wednesday and the forecast is for a high of 68 and a low of 48 then in two day's back into the mid to upper 80s that really screws with them, that little sense star looks good be waiting for a smoke report it's good to be back!

Re: Conradino23's Another Outdoor Grow With High Brix Soil - Air-Pots & SoCal Seed St

Yeah borers suck, I just found few on my plants that weren't sprayed, fortunately no major cola was damaged. Update is coming!

Re: Conradino23's Another Outdoor Grow With High Brix Soil - Air-Pots & SoCal Seed St

Ok so here's an update from The Northern Slope. First things first this spot is a complete surprise. I grew few times on this side of the valley, but never in a relatively open space like that and what I see exceeded my expectations, which were VERY low to begin with. On the top of that we've had a weather break recently with some rain that sent day temps tumbling down to low 70s and night ones to mid 50s and that kind of worried me cause this is September like never before until I saw these. I think I'll be welcoming cooling down from now on :) After the rain few were down laying on blackberry bushes, so I lifted them. I also found a few bud worm holes, but no serious damage and no mould. All buds are UDs, Manipuris are not flowering yet. You can see nice purpling on one of the buds, which I never had before on this strain and it's very cool.

Ok, here they are.
