Yep, that was the real deal. Odd thing about GDP is that the grape taste is "fake Koolaid grape" flavor. I now have 3 people wanting a GDP cut if I find it again, or if this GA is the real deal. I thought that I would have no problem finding a replacement GDP cut last year so I let it go. BIG MISTAKE! I could/should have overwintered several clones. I still have about 3 oz left though. Heh heh heh. I love the high, and it is special. Lots of lower grade GDP around, all the grams I have bought and sampled have not been as good as the stuff I grew last year. It finished late for me. Only the calixes were purple. The flavor was light, but distinct. As you say, when you exhale, the flavor has a lasting finish to it. The high... well, if I smoke too much it will give me couch lock. So one or two hits, and I am there. Great pain reduction and mood elevation, also good for sex. My best find last year. I grew OG Kush (yawn) White Widow (good day weed), Blue Dream (boring, but good for sex) and GDP (outstanding).
Anyway, I looked and looked for GDP this year, and they all sold out before I could snag any. I went to find the gal that I got the GDP cut from last year but she had moved. Then I found the GA grower, and I am back in business again. He says this GA is the best strain he has ever grown, and it is his all time favorite as well. He is a large clone grower near here. So far, its growing exactly like GDP did for me. Even the high PM susceptibility. Which is one reason I let GDP go last year. My GDP was covered with PM when I got back from vacation, and neem completely eradicated it in 2 days. 100:1 70% refined neem oil (aza removed). This year the GA gets neem every 2 weeks, regardless. Gotta keep the PM away from it. BTW: the purple color in GDP seems to be more from cool fall night temps, like a lot of purple strains. And as seen here, there are a lot of cuts and seeds that are said to be GDP or GA, but they turn out to be something else.
