That's ok, they look good :thumb:

The Doobie Brothers used to play at my High School in the early 1970s as well as other local gigs on the Monterey Peninsula. I have lost track of all the bands I have seen in person. I used to work at a night club in Carmel (the Barn at the Mission Ranch) and I saw just about every band that was working the California in the late 70s. And the beaches... Monterey had nice beaches, especially Carmel. Asilomar had the best surf waves, but I quit surfing Asilomar after my neighbor living 2 doors down from me in Pacific Grove got eaten by a great white shark. Seriously... they found him 2 days later with a huge bite out of his torso and surf board.

I lived on Mission Beach in Sandy Eggo starting in '83 I think it was. Sunset Court. Party central. The beach is all but deserted now, as they have banned alcohol there now. That was all it took to pull he plug on the endless parties there. But back then? Holy crap, if I did not have a woodie after walking a block it was a bad day for women there. It was also a bad day if I walked 2 blocks and did not have a beer in my hand. We had outrageous parties on Rockaway Court. They had the 'free electricity' there too, tapped in from a neighbor's electric meter. We used to pull the ladder on the roof so that the cops could not get us at those parties. Live bands were common on the beach. The surf music there was really good then. Twangy treble... The cops were always looking for underage girls and we always had underage girls at our parties. No one ever carded anyone there. Then the cops started threatening to confiscate the band's equipment if they did not stop playing. The bands always stopped playing after that.

When I was at SDSU in the later '80s I (I had moved inland to Del Cerro by then to sober up and finish my engineering degree) I had a professor that had an office at Scripps and he would call me when the waves were up. I had a long board there. The south summer swell and Blacks Beach was my favorite there. I was also on call to work in Hollywood on weekends as well. I met a lot of rock and roll band members doing rock video shoots. I was a mark for women at the end of shoots because they did not know who I was, and I knew the producers. Magically at the end of shoots the women would appear. Then it was off to wrap parties in the hills. Or some club. A lot of bands hung out at the Cat and Fiddle on Sunset. Or at Barneys. I was also able to get into the Rainbow Club on Sunset Blvd because we were on call to fix stuff at the club (plumbing, electrical, etc.). That was a get in if the bouncer liked you kind of place with a line around the block. We just went to the front of the line and ducked under the rope. "Here to fix the plumbing problem!" The women there were way above my pay grade. They also had a second tier club upstairs once you were inside that was even more insane. Sigh... we were spoiled rotten and elite. And we knew it. I also knew some porno producers there. And quite a few celebs, or family of celebs.

Sounds like great times. I love surf music actually although I never surfed myself.

The first Bubba Gump's Shrimp Co. (movie tourist rip off) was on Cannery Row in Monterey. I guess they are a chain now? Cannot beat rip off tourists dollar sucker traps. Monterey has COMPLETELY changed since they built the aquarium. When I lived in Pacific Grove I watched them build the aquarium. Big trucks rolled in with the huge pre-built whale sculpture and gobs and gobs of huge rocks. That is now up there with Disneyland for tourist stops in California. Must be hell now that Highway one is closed after the floods and land slides. All the traffic is being funneled out through Highway 68 to Salinas and down Highway 101.

Before the aquarium, Cannery Row was run down and half filled with empty sardine factories from the hey days of fishing there. For decades, where the main entrance to the aquarium is now was Kaliopy Records. It was a huge vinyl record store and head shop with buttons and t-shirts. I won an REO Speedwagon t-shirt there in a drawing once. Later Tower Records bought them out. There were several head shops on the row, and a lot of tourist shops and restaurants. I was a chef there at one of them for about a year. That was before the aquarium opened though. Many years later when I was an engineer at Sun Micro, they used to bus us down for events there, and my GF and I would pick my mother up in Carmel and we would have catered dinners after hours at the aquarium in front of the giant 3 story tanks, with string quartets playing music. Man, it was great during the high tech bubble in the Silicon Valley. We were so spoiled. I was also spoiled growing up around Monterey, and going to university in San Diego. I did not know how good I had it, really.

Oh yeah. I had a 99.3% solar eclipse show here this morning. Over hyped. I have seen partial ones before. Even 0.7% sun is too bright to look at without the special ISO glasses. Weird ominous effect. It was over in a few minutes though. The mobs can go home now.

It must've changed over the years. Bubba Gump is a chain for what I know and yeah it's commercial and tourist oriented, but the whole pier was like that, crowded and full of vendors. Not the best beach (Santa Monica) I saw in Cali either.

Holy shit! Now I know where I can go to get some weed in Italy, eh?

If you happen to set your foot over here don't hesitate to hit me up :)

They look good to me.

All things considered they're making it big time!

me rite now!:bongrip:

that was a good look into some of whats going on with cannibis future i think we all should start making our own seeds so at least we will have something for the future that isn't mucked up anymore than already is! :thumb:

No Venice and Santa Monica are not the best beaches, by far. Blacks, Carmel, Pfeiffer, Leucadia, Asilomar, Morro Bay/Pismo, Santa Cruz (to name a few) are way better. But there is no other beach like Venice Beach. The Pit at Venice Beach for one, where some stars like Sylvester Stallone work out. Half of Johnny Carson's weird acts must have come from Venice Beach, like the chainsaw juggler. That place is like New York City. Everyone should go to New York City once in their life. Also everyone should go to a third world country once in their life. Maybe NYC qualifies as both? Perspective would change of this generation of texting cell phone addicted spoiled brats if they were exposed to those places.

I would love to go to Northern Italy. Also Northern Spain and Southern France between. Maybe if/when my mother passes I will head over to Europe. I would probably gain 20 pounds eating all the food there. Maybe Italy is cheap enough that I could move there? Living in Torino would be a lot cheaper than living in Portland, Oregon. But then, my only family relatives in Europe are in Norway, and Norway is not in the EU, so getting a long term visa would be a PITA in Italy.

I've been making my own seeds, the best decision I ever took :thumb:

Take sample from middle of the plant between 1 and 3 o'clock, mash it and squeeze the juice on the refractometer.

Venic Beach is a mirror reflection of Camden Town (London) to me, where I spent fair share of my life. For that matter NYC might be resembling London, all New Yorkers seemed to love it for the melting pot factor. In fact only in London when I was boarding the bus I heard 10 languages spoken simultaneously and this is something you don't forget. We're planning a trip to NYC btw, cause my wife gets restless, but first we're gonna hit Morocco in December/January. Venice is a nice beach I have to say, but the amazing ones were along Big Sur. We stopped before Monterey on our way back just to hang out for a bit and it was totally worth it!

just tested one gorilla glue leaf 16-17 brix!

This is really good reading, was the line fuzzy or sharp?

Re: Conradino23's Another Outdoor Grow With High Brix Soil - Air-Pots & SoCal Seed St

im not sure conrad about the fuzzy or sharp going to test the other 3 today and see what there is i will pay closer attention to the line what is the difference between the fuzzy and clear?

Re: Conradino23's Another Outdoor Grow With High Brix Soil - Air-Pots & SoCal Seed St

Lack of calcium

Re: Conradino23's Another Outdoor Grow With High Brix Soil - Air-Pots & SoCal Seed St

one thing i have noticed thats different this year with the climate is that it cools down at night a lot better than most other summers most of the time when we have a heat wave(there's a week long heat wave starting tomorrow)it will be 70-75 at 4 in the morning i've seen it 80 at 4 this year it's around 65 which is nice!

Re: Conradino23's Another Outdoor Grow With High Brix Soil - Air-Pots & SoCal Seed St

Straight line indicates lack of calcium at this Brix level, so add it only in feeding if you saw it. If you didn't you might continue with something rich in nitrates.

We're going through another heatwave here and still no rain, nobody knows when the weather's gonna change. I already started hauling a little bit of water for the plants. They're gonna make it, but the yield will be reduced if there's no rain.

Re: Conradino23's Another Outdoor Grow With High Brix Soil - Air-Pots & SoCal Seed St

It's gonna be fine.

Re: Conradino23's Another Outdoor Grow With High Brix Soil - Air-Pots & SoCal Seed St

Work on raising it at 12-13yrs, get a good compost tea, dilute it with water, add calcium carbonate, around 1 tbs per half a GAL, let it sit for few days and then just drench them until pot is completely wet.

When I was a kid in NYC I heard a lot of languages. Mostly French, but also a lot of Dutch and German. German was commonly spoken throughout the states before WWII. During and after WWI it became less common, but WWII did it in here. The Amish still speak it though. Spanish is the new vernacular immigrant language in the US. In Monterey, Italian was very common. I learned all the Italian slang and dirty words in school and in restaurants from my second generation Italian friends there. They rarely spoke it, but they understood their parents and grandparents who spoke it all the time.

Most of the people I knew in LA were on the LA/NYC/London loop. Meaning the musicians, actors, fashion models and movie people were commonly going back and forth between the three cities. They definitely dominate the global media and music industry. NYC and London also dominate the global financial industry. NYC was originally settled by the Dutch, including my ancestors. The Dutch still dominate in a lot of areas and business in NYC.

Yeah, the Big Sur coastline is amazing. It is burned into my memory and I can see it just closing my eyes. When I was the Garde Manger (pantry chef) at the kitchens at the Lodge at Pebble Beach, I would go to the back of the Lodge and stare at Point Lobos and Stillwater Cove for as long and often as I could. At rocky Point the view of the water there was spectacular. When I was living on Partington Ridge in Big Sur, I would get high with my GF and stare at the freighters off the vast Pacific coast. In Prunedale there was always amazing sunsets over Monterey Bay. Dunno why that was, but they were always better there than farther north or south. Vivid colors, like doing shooms. I miss that, but not the tourists or the traffic. Or the seasonal fires and floods. And the drought. Water is very tight there.
