Colombian Gold Grow: Come Learn With Me How To Produce Your Own Seeds!

I had 3 of the Gelat.OG seeds from @SeedsMan I started all three at the same time. I kept one and gave one each to two different friends when we got together. I took a cutting off mine yesterday actually and squeezed her into the flowering tent. Definitely a big leaf lady.

Anything with Girl Scout Cookies in it just has to be good right?

Yeah, I think the plant might only have a total of 15 leaves  but they're HUGE leaves.

hey beez I thought you were 100% perlite, but it looks like a soil mix in some of the pics.
Did I miss the switch?

I'm a ProMix BX guy, Hash Hound. I tried the perlite hempy pots for a few plants and have nothing against it. I just "know" the ProMix better. That said I will never ever germinate seeds using any method other then in a hempy/perlite solo cup with 1/4 strength nutes.

When I first got into growing I had a mentor of sorts. A man of mystery if you will. In his head he carried volumes of information about growing cannabis. One thing he taught me was when a plant gets to the last 4-5 weeks of a 10 week flower to pull them out and remove the dead /mostly dead leaves. He explained that as a leaf dies the leaf stem will shrivel up and basically rot. When this happens there is a strong possibility you will see some sort of mold or rot.

So about once a week I put the late flowering plants up on a trim table and remove the above mentioned leaves. I was doing this today when as it was happening I realized I was cutting through a bud stem along with the leaf. I watched this pretty big bud fall onto the table with a thud.

I was a little ticked off at myself for not paying close attention to what I was doing. But to use an old phrase...…."When you're dealt a lemon you make lemonade.

So here is a taste of Colombian Gold lemonade. About 4 weeks from harvest...…..well, I guess that's isn't true is it?

40% early might be a touch too early. I think the high would be quick, like a mule kick in the chest with a head rush on the side. I think too it would not last very long.

No seed making project is complete with a test germination. Here is a list of the autoflower seeds I bred this winter.

The Quarter Pounder auto was my reversed female who produced the pollen for this project.

Quarter Pounder auto S1 fem seeds Qty. 70 seeds
Quarter Pounder X Stardawg auto fem seeds Qty. 147 seeds
Quarter Pounder X Gorilla Glue auto fem seeds Qty. 257 seeds
Quarter Pounder X Dark Devil auto fem seeds Qty. 22 seeds
Quarter Pounder X Tangerine Dream auto fem seeds Qty. 290 seeds

Still on the vine is a large Colombian Gold bud that was the last plant pollinated with the Quarter Pounder auto mom/dad.

Since the Tangerine Dream X QP was the cross I had the most of I stuck four of these seeds into a hempy solo cup with a dome on it and sat it on the heating mat. As a rule hempy solo cup seeds sprout in about 3 days. The first of these sprouted right at the end of day three, the second one early on day four, and the third at the end of day four. I hunted around with a toothpick and found seed #4 which has cracked and has a tiny tap root sticking out. I relocated it to the center of the cup and put it under about 1/4" of perlite. I have to see if it will sprout.

I floated the perlite today to see how the roots looked on the first sprout. I'm quite pleased at the length of this 2 day old root.

So I am going to check off the box (do they germinate) off for the Tangerine Dream X QP seeds. Next up I'll try the Gorilla Glue X QP to see how they do.

It has a lot to do with germinating in a hempy solo cup. My success rate increased significantly after switching to hempy for germination.

Seeds are expensive, and we don't get to plant but a handful a year.

Imagine harvest day? Makes my fingers hurt just thinking about it.

A few posts back I shared a picture of the freshly sprouted Quarter Pounder auto X Tangerine Dream auto plants. The next day (yesterday I think) The fourth and final one sprouted. It is still in the hempy solo cup. I relocated the other three into 2 liter bottles. I have a volunteer who wants to take a shot and grow these out.
