Colombian Gold Grow: Come Learn With Me How To Produce Your Own Seeds!

It's going to be a seedfest in there. How's the SOG coming along?

I actually snapped this photo yesterday of the SOG girls. I'm trying to get the one runt to catch up with the other 8 girls. My plan is to flip them to 12/12 lighting when I trim off the first side branches on the runt assuming I've already trimmed them off the other 8 plants.

LOL..........Not going to be much of a seed fest if I don't find more then 2 pollen sacks. But let's hope for the seed fest!!

Gratz on the sacks beez:welldone:

I know what you mean. Make sure that the calyx is just falling right off the seeds you're harvesting and that they are coming off the plant with virtually no resistance. That's how I know they're ready when they almost fall off when I touch them and the calyx falls off practically.

Yeah its hard to wait, but normally nature does it all by herself... so i get to understand more and more how gentle things can be... isnt it hard to not pluck that seed sometimes?

"just" two seed sacks can create a pretty heavy pregnancy i am sure... the collection is harder tough ;)

Once I've determined that the seeds on a plant have reached prime maturing you betcha I am harvesting them. Like I said when they're ready I'll harvest 10-20 a day just for fun.

On a plant as heavily seeded as the Colombian Gold plant I anticipate leaving the majority of the seeds on the plant till I harvest her. Then just hang her to dry till crunchy at which point I'll cut the buds off one by one and harvest the seeds the old fashioned way in a board game box top.

Don't jump the gun, Newty. Pollen sacks doesn't always mean they'll produce pollen. If they do produce pollen it's not always going to be viable. But in this case I want to be like @SweetSue and full of positivity and will the plant to produce lots of healthy, viable female pollen sacks which pollinate all four of the autos I have running.

I need help from you guys with regard to "defoliation". I am from the old school that teaches that the more leaves on the plant the more energy it can produce. To that end I've always shied away from removing many leaves. But from all I have been reading it seems that perhaps the old way is not the best way. And although I fight change, I eventually will admit I need to make a change. I do a form of lilipopping but is that enough?

I have a Colombian Gold in my flowering tent which is stretching and has started to flower. I need to wait till it's finished stretching before contemplating any foliage removal at all right? Give it a chance to reach full size?

If she’s a vigorous grower, I pluck all through stretch (5-10 leaves a day) I only do this to leaves laying on top of each other, ones blocking the light to the middle and never the top fan leaves. The plants do get their energy from fan leaves but they do not need a bountiful amount at all and especially ones that are at the bottom, dying slowly, waste of energy in my opinion. I do wait and do any major defoliation at the end of stretch.

Thank you @newty for the information. I'll get her out here in a bit and look for leaves laying on top of one another. I'll wait till the end of stretch to lollipop her and clean out the leaves in the center of the plant.

It's always good to keep your lolli clean and well trimmed
