Colombian Gold Grow: Come Learn With Me How To Produce Your Own Seeds!

Honestly @Rifleman in this case it's all about making the seeds. Not worried about smoking buds. That being the case wouldn't it be better to just brush the CS all along the main stalk and keep doing that till I see pollen sacks?

I use a misting spray. Too much CS is as bad as too little. But yes you can do the main stalk, top 3 inches, whatever. It's just like selfing a photo plant only on an accelerated time frame.

Edit: As a matter of fact I dropped a Mephisto Grape Crinkle last night that I plan to reverse for S1 beans.

I hope you have more to work with then I do with this Quarter Pounder plant.

I'd have more likes if Penny would have liked my post above :).
I liked this post
Do you guys have a preference? One you would like to see over the other?

I vote quarter pounder for reversing. Adds a layer of danger and excitement, besides when you pull it off you’ll have those seeds you want. What if you did both plants just in case the auto proves problematic?

I've got 3 beans. This time around I am going to start another in about 2 weeks to be the recipient plant. If it works out I'll have pollen way past where it'll bother the current grow, but still pollinate what needs it and be gone before the dwc buckets come back online around Jan 1st.

Hide and watch, I'll end up with 11 plants all full of hybrid seed.

You're a wild man, Archi! Two different pollen sources at the same time can be dangerous. And I have a couple more tricks up my sleeve if it didn't work out with the Quarter Pounder.

The Colombian Gold can be treated with the CS any time I choose. So I could try with the QP and if that failed move to the Colombian Gold.

Seeing how it's your last seed i would go for the whole QP seed maker. But i'm still learning so what do i know. I'm wanting to try seed making and have been following this journal since the beginning. Haven't had time to post but thought i would give my 2 cents. Best of luck with either plan or even a new one.

START OF PLAN B: USING COLLOIDAL SILVER SPRAY TO MAKE FEM SEEDS

It appears my original plan to make S1 feminized seeds may have to be altered. My goal was to spray a Quarter Pounder auto plant, make female pollen on that plant to pollinate itself but also a Dark Devil auto as well. Here is my Quarter Pounder plant at 17 days old.

Nice looking plant. Unfortunately it is just now putting out it's 4th node, and will start flowering on around day 24 which means I will not be able to top her without Royally pausing her growth.

I have two options.............I can start applying the Colloidal Silver to the Quarter Pounder auto in a day or two. This I would have to do all along the not so long main stalk. I asked experienced seed maker @Rifleman what he thought and he said it can work. I stand a good chance at making the female pollen but there would be no smokeable bud harvest, just seeds if pollen is produced.

Option #2.........I have a female Colombian Gold clone that I could use to make feminized S1 Colombian Gold seeds. I just topped her for the second time two days ago, and will up-pot her to a 3 gallon pot so she will need a week to 10 days to recover from the topping and adjust to her new pot. But then I could start applying the Colloidal Silver for 4 days and then flip her. I'm comfortable with Option #2 having done it before.

What I have to remember is that the Quarter Pounder auto seed I have is the last one I have and I would love to have more of those seeds.

Do you guys have a preference? One you would like to see over the other?

If you can make QPa seeds I would vote this route as auto seed making is something valuable to learn since regular photos can be cloned. Making auto seeds is a good learning lesson and I would love to see that tutorial!!

I would be okay not harvesting any smoke-able buds from the Quarter Pounder plant provided I was successful making seeds.

If your ok with no smoke from the QPa then seed making is definitely my vote !

Hope you are well beez!

I'm doing good, Dutch. How are those clones doing? Shouldn't be but another week to 10 days and you'll start seeing some new growth.

I pretty much have to try the CS spray with the Quarter Pounder auto plant. If I have no luck I can fall back to the female Colombian Gold clone and use her in an S1 seed making project.

Some of the time when I take cuttings I'll see a little yellowing right at the edge of where I cut the leaves in half. That's a sign to me that the plant is using energy from those leaves and putting it towards making roots. Your clones are looking great. But remember, since they are re-vegging they will do everything more slowly.

So I am going to try to take a photo each day of the Northern Light X Dark Devil cross bud that I pollinated with the Colombian Gold pollen. It was pollinated on 11/9 Friday so 4+ days today. Just because it was pollinated doesn't mean the pollen was viable (probably so though) so the only way to tell for sure is to see seeds. I want to see how many days it takes before I can see seeds on this bud. I am already loving the purple from the Dark Devil auto mother plant.

If nothing else I get to see more purple and more crystals each time I take a pic of her.

Do the quarter pounder and I'll do a Columbian gold, then send you some seeds. Best of both worlds that way.

@MrGreene you're going to apply colloidal silver to your Colombian Gold plant to make fem seeds?

I think you should try it just to learn how to do it no? I am planning to apply the CS to the Quarter Pounder to try to make seeds. I've never tried it with a plant this undeveloped so it will be an interesting challenge. If it dies, or I'm unable to make more seeds @InTheShed has said he would buy me a 5 pack of the Quarter Pounder auto seeds. So what have I got to lose?
