Colombian Gold Grow: Come Learn With Me How To Produce Your Own Seeds!

Penny, The other night I asked you about dusting one of your strains and for the life of me I can't remember.

You had both male Xmas Bud and Blueberry boys?

START OF PLAN B: USING COLLOIDAL SILVER SPRAY TO MAKE FEM SEEDS

It appears my original plan to make S1 feminized seeds may have to be altered. My goal was to spray a Quarter Pounder auto plant, make female pollen on that plant to pollinate itself but also a Dark Devil auto as well. Here is my Quarter Pounder plant at 17 days old.

Nice looking plant. Unfortunately it is just now putting out it's 4th node, and will start flowering on around day 24 which means I will not be able to top her without Royally pausing her growth.

I have two options.............I can start applying the Colloidal Silver to the Quarter Pounder auto in a day or two. This I would have to do all along the not so long main stalk. I asked experienced seed maker @Rifleman what he thought and he said it can work. I stand a good chance at making the female pollen but there would be no smokeable bud harvest, just seeds if pollen is produced.

Option #2.........I have a female Colombian Gold clone that I could use to make feminized S1 Colombian Gold seeds. I just topped her for the second time two days ago, and will up-pot her to a 3 gallon pot so she will need a week to 10 days to recover from the topping and adjust to her new pot. But then I could start applying the Colloidal Silver for 4 days and then flip her. I'm comfortable with Option #2 having done it before.

What I have to remember is that the Quarter Pounder auto seed I have is the last one I have and I would love to have more of those seeds.

Do you guys have a preference? One you would like to see over the other?

I would say plan B, and then grow the quarter pounder, take cuts and make the chance of seeds producion bigger. I would love to see the Colombian gold produce seeds to:drool:

Oh and i really Like the conversation you guys had going on:battingeyelashes:

I definitely would love to try to make more QP seeds not to mention QP X DDA seeds both of which would be auto fems.

NS your plan C has just one hitch. The Quarter Pounder is an auto so no clones I'm afraid.

Depends on how much you want some QP bud to go along with that pollen.

I would be okay not harvesting any smoke-able buds from the Quarter Pounder plant provided I was successful making seeds.

I spray as soon as I see the first sex. I pick a lower branch and spray the same "bud site" once a day with CS for about three weeks. Pollen sacs will appear. After you see first actual pollen it will take approx 5 wks for seeds to mature. Do not smoke the areas you sprayed, but the rest of the plant is safe. So yes you can get S1 from an auto. But it is pushing the lifespan of the plant for sure. All seed produced by this method will be female.

Beware leaving that lone branch slinging pollen for too long. Two plants in a 4x4 and I had over 6k seeds.

I'm not sure if I should have my feathers ruffled at that, Shed. Because it's nature, and the fact that I am not an expert, and since I've never attempted seed making with a plant that young in development, regardless of my seed collection I might not be successful. But I'm willing to try, to see what happens, how the plant reacts. Then I'll know whether or not it's something I want to try again.

But what about a case like this where there are no side branches?

One of those lower branches will have a pair of pistils where a bud is/was going to form. If not use a pipe cleaner and rope off an inch up top. Use a "cone of shame" made of paper towels so there is no overspray each time and just hit the top with the CS. Be vigilant and stay above the pipe cleaner always. At harvest throw away everything from an inch below the pipe cleaner to the tip. The idea is there might be residue and no one wants to smoke that.

Edit: I did a dda and they are that size just before sex too. You'll be surprised at how fast they take off.

Well, by the tone of your voice I wasn't really sure if you were busting my chops or not.

Honestly @Rifleman in this case it's all about making the seeds. Not worried about smoking buds. That being the case wouldn't it be better to just brush the CS all along the main stalk and keep doing that till I see pollen sacks?
