Colombian Andes Greenhouse SIP CBD Auto Grow

There we go!! That's MUCH nicer!!
I asked the constructor please to raise the light arcs up to 2cm shy of the ceiling.

I will have to adjust all of the lights after Shabbat, but for now it is a major improvement to be able to stand up!

Only, don't you add CalMag at each feeding? (Or is it only as needed?)
I have no experience with hydro or coco grows, and no experience yet with SIP.

I just rely on my well-balanced, organic, living soil to provide the nutrients. I also use the high-N liquid fert we discussed (NPK 11-2-4, Na, Cl, S, Mg, Ca). And during flower I also supplement with solution-grade potassium sulfate (K, S) and/or Langbeinite (K, Mg, S).

When I get around to trying out my novel SIP design, I'll be watering from the top, not via the tube. I view the SIP more as a run-off recycler.

That's very interesting! Thank you.

May I please ask, how big of a reservoir are you planning for your SIP?

Also, is there any shortcut to trimming fan leaves and larf, etc.?

Thanks.

It will be nested 5 gal buckets. I'm thinking to lift the inner bucket somehow, to create a bigger reservoir.

First, I don't plan on doing any training. I always do some pruning in early flower, or late veg. That includes removing low, small branches off the main stem, and also some upper, internal branches that are overshadowed by the main upper bud sites. This is to open up the airflow. I also remove fan leaves that are old/unhealthy, or ones that are blocking bud sites. I also remove small offshoot branches that are low down on the main branches, to focus energy on the main bud sites.

I take it you are not overmuch impressed with the "moisture gradient" (because you plan to top-water instead of tube-water)?
Well, Krissi seems to have some very impressive plants, in spite of top watering with her self-watering pots.

Right. (Clean up the larf.)
I was just wondering about saving time while trimming today.
Are there any good leaf trimmers out there that save time?

Cool. Well, there are probably 2 main goals with SIP... 1) self-watering, 2) plants have 24/7 access to nutrients and water. These two things are of course related, but there are options and nuances.

It's a bit of an acquired talent... best to take time with it. I use regular trimming scissors. For fan leaves, I often just one-hand it without scissors, pinching them off with my thumbnail. In no time I'll have a hand full of leaves.

@lootznbootz did just that by adding small pieces of pvc pipe cut in half lengthwise and screwed to the bottom bucket to act as standoffs. He put his in the reservoir area but I'd be concerned about leaks so if i did it that way I'd probably put them up between the rims.

Happy Hanukkah 🕎. CL🍀

Happy 7th day of Chanukah el gringuito, to you and your family!
Thanks, Shed! Haha, I don't want to be a wet blanket, but we actually don't do any feasts that are not written in the Torah. (We take Deuteronomy 4:2 very seriously.) But thanks for your kind thoughts! I hope you had a meaningful and intentional day!

Thanks, CBD! I think I figured it out today. I need to selectively thin the shoots that come up while they are still small, leaving the stronger shoots to complete. And to cut them out early will mean less stress on the plant, while it is still younger. Thanks!

Hi @Cide Hamete Benengeli, no problem. I believe I am not Sephardic, but rather more like Ashkenaz. But I did find many who have Sephardic roots here, and they know it (and I think there are many more who have Sephardic parents, and don't know).

El Cide , to try to say that more clearly, I believe I am of Yapheth, something like an Ashkenaz mix. I love the efficiency of Ashkenaz, and I love the efficiency of Ashkenaz. But I also love the "one big happy family" feel of the Latin American Sephardics of Portugal and Spain a lot. They are mostly of Shem here, but they have Sephardic influence from Portugal and Spain, and a lot of conversos, and occultos, and "maranos" and what-you-got.
Some know of their ancestry, but many others don't know, or don't really care. But it seems a very nice loving sense among the people, one for another, and I like it. I don't know if that better answers your question.
Why do you ask?

@cbdhemp808 , thanks for your help with diagnosis!
The sick little girl still doesn't look or feel great (rubber celery), but at least she is drinking again.
At first I siphoned the reservoir, mixed in 4 doses of CalMag, and sprinkled it over the soil with molasses and Recharge, and some PK 13-14.
The next time it was a double dose of CalMag, and PK 13-14.
She still doesn't look great, but she looks and feels better than before, and at least she is taking water again.
If CalMag was the problem, she should have at least six doses on her right now, and I plan to use double CalMag until we can get a cooked batch of soil.

I siphoned the other reservoirs for everyone in bloom, and I am doubling up on the CalMag for the rest of this soi.

I have another question, though. I know I bought the below seeds from a sponsor, but I can't remember who I bought them from :[
I hope I will say this all ok. (If not, admins, please just let me know.)
They are Phoenix Seeds' CBD Auto 1:1. I bought them because I like at least 1:1 (preferably more).

I planted 10, and 6 came up. They look small compared to other 1:1 strains I have grown, so I think I might keep this first one (which is the biggest of the bunch).
I just clipped her tip and top 4 leaves maybe 3 days ago.
She does seem to be growing faster than before. Only, I think other 1:1 strains have been much bigger by now.
(If I save this biggest one, then at least I can sample the flavor, haha!)

The only other one close to her size is a little smaller than her.
I just clipped her tip and four top leaves like two days ago, and she also is growing a *little* faster, but, umm.... she still seems small.
AND she is going into pre-flower???? (Children having children!! Oy va voi!!)
I will probably pull the plug, just because she seems way too small to be going into flower.

For comparison, here is an Afghan Mass XXL, which is younger than either of the two Phoenix girls, and way, way bigger.
It is only 3% CBD, so I just have to toke more medicine, haha! (But at least then I will have something!)
(I have to trim her up tomorrow. Thanks, @cbdhemp808 for the trimming tips! I think I got the idea now. Keep the big productive shoots, take the little ones...)
:thanks:

Ga44.&owa=outlook.office.com&scriptVer=20221209009.jpg

The AMXXL has only maybe 3% CBD, but I have had 1:1 plants that were also much bigger than the Phoenix.

I am not sure what I will plant next, but probably another auto, because I don't want to run photos in SIPs until after I get the soil tested, remixed, and cooked.
The test kits are maybe two or three more weeks away.
Then six more weeks to cook.
So maybe in another +/- 2+ months or something, then I can think about photos (and I should have some more SIPs open by then. Right now I am just trying to stuff some jars with medicine).

For replanting the SIPs, I plan to scoop out the old "Solo cup's worth", and put it in the soil recycle bin (to get doctored up once we get the soil test kits in).
Then add a small thin layer of GeoFlora VEG on the base of the crater, and also see if I can get any to stick to the walls of the container, to build some fertilizer in.
Then I want to fill the crater with fresh planting mix, and put a known producing strain.

My questions are:
Since the planting soils are generally underpowered, and I don't want to mess up the moisture gradient any more than necessary, is there any harm in putting a thin layer of GeoFlora VEG (or other granulated formula) at the bottom of the "Solo Cup's worth", and on the side walls, so that the plantas have something to eat?
And if it is ok, how thick mightone make the layer or pocket at the base of the "Solo cup crater"?
And any other pointers?
Thank you!

Pude visitar en Toledo la sinagoga más antigua de Europa (costruida en el siglo 1180);
;me encantó su belleza, y despertó mi interes por "los primos" sefarditas.

As I was saying, out of pure curiosity; I don't know much about the Sephardim, and they interest me (I am very interested in human geography and universal history and culture). I was able to visit the oldest synagogue in Europe in Toledo (built in the 1180th century); Santa María la Blanca, la sinagoga más antigua de Europa
I loved its beauty, and it awakened my interest in Sephardic "cousins".

Besides, both to you and to your compatriots, I remind you (because I suppose you would know; if not, I have the pleasure of announcing) that Sephardim anywhere on the planet (and their descendants) have the right to receive Spanish nationality (and therefore therefore, the citizenship of the European Union): tell your Sephardic compatriots about it, because I think that the last term to request it has already expired, and now there is a new extraordinary period of grace.
I think that in America, the Sephardim are in greater numbers in Mexico, Colombia and Trinidad & Tobago...

I do not quite understand your paragraph that I have highlighted in bold (in the Spanish part; the English part seems to say something different) : if you refer to the meaning of "Sephardic", it does not mean anything other than "Spanish", as well as "Sepharad"
means "Spain". The term "marrano" is a very offensive medieval term that Spanish Christians used with/against Spanish judeoconversos (new Christian converts from Judaism).

Greetings with the best wishes from your cousin from the depths of Sepharad aka al-Ándalus aka Spain... aka Gachupinolandia, heh.
