I can't wait to see this grow take off. I was able to read through and catch the tail end of your last grow. I really enjoy the way you grow and write your journals. Sending good vibes your way.

If your taking drink orders a dry gin fizz or a classic old fashion would be just delightful. 🥂

cold Tuskers?
It looks like there are a few cans! Are you referring to the Kenyan brand? We have many fine craft breweries here too. I see you like a lager. I'm partial to ales myself. Cheers Con 🍺
Macallan neat please😊
Done!
Hey Carmen - of course if I can help you I will. You know what you’re doing though, I doubt you’ll need me. And the plan seems solid as hell to me. Yes, I’m quite familiar with your lights and although I’m a ppfd guy, I know DLI too. Not as well as Shed, I should note. DLI is yet another thing I basically learned off him. He will likely know the answers to any DLI question you can ask. But from what I know, it seems solid to me. You’re basically starting low and rising as you go. DLI as I understand it is a strain specific concept and that plan would seem to accommodate all. I can also tell you that I’ve been finding that at 20/4 as I do, I am often wasting light and money. If the plants begin to droop like when they know lights out is impending, (you’ve seen this, yes?) when you have two or three hours left on the schedule, they’re done for the day and you’re wasting light and effectively doing nothing. That happens to me so I have begun adjusting to something closer to 18/6. As is your high end. So yes, I think your plan is great and will cover all your bases.

Also - you noted in here somewhere that since you grow in an in home environment you don’t worry about temp and RH too much. I do this too with my bedroom closet. Just a fan and a light. And what I find is that especially for organics, it works GREAT at house environment. Most homes are roughly in the mid 70s and maybe 60% RH or so. This is awesome for growing organics. Your pot stays warm and the microbes just jam and jam. I personally think we sometimes worry too much about a few degrees or points of humidity. As long as you have plenty of moving air, your system works great. I would suggest you make sure to have some rather significant fan game going on in flower. That’s where a house environment can bite you as you can’t lower the RH. The solution is moving air.

Hope some of that helps. Great start!
Thank you Jon. I didn't realize your bedroom closet grow was a house environment. I do keep an oscillating fan on the plants, blowing from underneath the canopy and that keeps the foliage moving. I haven't had an issue with pm yet, touch wood. Thanks for taking a look at my ppfd numbers. My aim is to go 18/6 if possible, and if I keep to the ppfd numbers I have from the online calculator and chart I will achieve the recommended DLI and hopefully lower the electric bill too! Bonus.

Thank you very much G! Good vibes back at ya

Planted seeds
in moist 50 % soil / seedling mix, in solo sized pots.

I prepped each hole with a dusting of mycorrhizae and covered the seed over.

The pots are inside the heated bucket performing their germination magic a 24.8 C.

It's been a while since I planted seeds direct. I took to germinating in paper towel for a while but and trying the direct method again.

I am busy watching this video and I am very interested to hear him not only mention Beauveria Bassiana, but he recommends dusting the seeds with it! I used Beauveria Bassiana for my outside plants and it was very effective as I had no bug issues. I used it as a foliar spray but this seed dusting sounds clever and worth a try. Next time! I do have some BB on hand.

I'd be remiss if I didn't mention that I have watched more than a few stop motion multi-day videos taken of tent plants, and the leaves rise and fall during dark periods as well. To my mind that means it has nothing to do with the plant having gotten enough light and taking a break.

This morning the seedlings are all above ground. That took 3 days in total from sewing the seeds in the 50 % soil / seedling mix at approx 24 to 26 C.

I hung my lights and the babies are now at 25 % 48 cm from the light. That is 19 inches. Here they will remain for a week at 18 hours on.
