Clones In Soil: Hybrid Perpetual Grow 2021/2022

Guys…. I have an issue with all my plants finishing up at different times, what do I do? SS and Future want 8-9 weeks, H.Candyz wants 8 l, while Arise wants 10 weeks. How can I do this? I thought it would be perfect until I remembered they need a dark period before harvest. Our guest bedroom is super dark but I would hate to take them out of their tent for this process. Maybe I can have them meet in the middle at about 9.5 weeks. Idk…. Help!!:nervous-guy:

Ps. 9 weeks starts tomorrow.

Hey @420giirl hope you are having a great day.
Congratulations on your upcoming harvest.
All you have to do is get them out from under the led's.
Doesn't have to be completely dark.
Led's degrade tric's after 12 hrs.
Do them one at a time if you need to.

Stay safe
Bill

Plants don't need a dark period at harvest, so chop each one as it's ready. Some growers believe that extended dark period before harvest has some sort of benefit, but others find no benefit at all.

Pull the ripe one out at lights-on and harvest that one!
Yep.
I could go either way 420Giirl. Both are right enough to me. The difference shouldn't be too much. If any perceived.
And furthermore, yep.

Small benefit, not worth much hassle.

You could compromise by pulling it from the tent and letting it sit in your dark room for 24 hours or so. (If the smell isn't a problem.) Otherwise ... meh.

:Namaste:

9 weeks starts tomorrow and I was starting to think I was color blind. I couldn’t see any amber or yellow for the life of me. I can only see cloudy or clear. I started thinking I just don’t know what I was looking for or at, then I started to see some golden colors, finally so I’m guessing we are right on track. I don’t see a lot of amber trichomes though.

And with that said I’m so excited to be harvesting Hood Candyz tomorrow morning (noon)! :woohoo::party:

Ps. 1 down 3 to go, for harvest that is.

Holy cow, Arise has these huge colas, they’re so awesome and she still wants 2 more weeks. 10 weeks total Omg she going to be so huge, I can’t wait :yahoo:

Don't see a single amber in those pics so still time on that one!
Glad you piped up. :cheesygrinsmiley: I didn't want to be a contrarian, but I was thinking another week or more for the one with brown pistils.

Depends. It'll either go back to making fresh pistils or be done by then. I've had great success waiting for them to go into a second surge of bloom - that can add some significant weight. And any more growth from here will be crammed full of trichs - just sugar leaf and calyxes. :slide:
Sweet looking flowers! Patients will pay dividends :blunt:

Especially when they look as healthy as these do. :thumb:

Here are some of the buds I took from the lower half of Hood Candyz, they were growing from the main colas.
These are the branches I probably could have taken when I defoliated at the beginning of flower. The lafry or popcorn buds I think I keep hearing about, only these buds are pretty dense. I can also see why we take them off the plant in the first place. The plants would have had more room and it wouldn’t have been so crowded for them giving them some elbow room.
My question is this, do the buds grow back on the main colas, making them bigger and not so sparse or spaced? Or do I lose the yield all together when removing those smaller branches?

I find it funny how they grow exactly the same way on each plant with the big bud at top and 2 small buds at the bottom lol :hmmmm:

This is Hood Candyz, she looks white compared to the buds higher up? That snow at that level is pretty cool bc it was super low on the plant.

Lil baby buds, larfy buds, popcorn buds

Hood Candyz 8 weeks flower, end of grow, beginning of harvest and cure. :high-five:

Oh yeah perfect the one with brown is Future, she has 8.5-9 weeks to harvest. I think we are right on track.
How long should I go past the recommended time for harvest? Do I just need to keep checking for amber our more cloudy trichomes?

One thing to keep in mind is that thinning an indica-looking plant is done differently from a true sativa. When buds are widely spaced on the plant you would lose harvest weight if you thin hard after stretch.

True sativas don't produce fat colas, so that popcorn you're seeing is pretty much what all the buds look like from the bottom up. Not sure what you mean by "grow back" though.

Breeder numbers are like serving suggestions on the pasta box. They're a guide, but might have nothing to do with what is happening in your tent. They just let you know what they think.

Yeah, I’m so confused when I get to this point. Between the recommended harvest time and checking for amber trichomes I can never see, I just don’t know rn.
Not sure what you mean by "grow back" though.
What I meant to say is, will the buds on the main colas get a lot bigger to make up for what I took off (Idk why I said grow back lol)? or do I lose the yield completely when cutting those smaller branches off?

When they're ready, they just sorta ... slump. There won't be many fresh creamy pistils, they won't need water on schedule ... they'll just come to a halt - nothing will look like it changed for awhile. At that point the trichs should agree, with mostly cloudy and 10% amber. That will depend on their health. Yours look great, so I wouldn't expect to see a lot of ambers.

I think the best way to think about shaping the plant is to remember that you're working to fit it into the canopy. Anything that isn't going to reach the bottom of your effective canopy can be taken off. (And now you have a fair idea about how deep it is). I don't believe that it forces larger buds up top though. You might get some positive effect during the stretch in early bloom, but after that I think it's probably a net loss.

Those lower sugar leaves are pretty tasty! Don' turn your nose up at 'em until you've burned a few. :laughtwo:

Oh ok, that’s exactly what I wanted to know. They’re all still taking water like crazy. Personally I don’t think they’re ready either. I would definitely say Hood Candyz can use another week along with the others. I’m just going to keep a good eye on them all knowing it’s going to be time real soon. I’m in no rush!

Change of plans for harvesting Hood Candyz tomorrow. I’m going to wait until she has more amber and starts showing signs bc rn she is still growing away.

Good night 420ville :Namaste:

Do you wash your harvest?

It really improves smoothness.
Definitely have to wash bc of the doggies. Especially buddy, his hair gets everywhere lol
