Caveat Emptor, Buyer Beware, Hydro Grow LED!

G-Dog, what is the name of the site where she is at? I would like to read some of her posts and see if I can glean some more info about her.

“What is at stake here is not as much a product defect and poor customer service, she outed the OP to the police as a grower because he complained about the product. That is way below the belt and any weed site that would allow her banner is not one of us.”

Exactly!!! She is the most dangerous kind of person that there is, an extreme traitor with no morals and no rules what so ever!!!

Gntlmn frmr, were you considering buying from HGL? I personally, am not familiar advanced hydroponics, I will take a look though.

Thanks skyhighrobert, I’m sorry that your equipment was not the best, but at least you are dealing with an honest person!

Hi turtle, when this all started I had ordered 4 lights from her. I would not pay for the lights until they were shipped (of course she wanted all of the money up front). It was a long process, the first lights were shipped and paid for May 28. The last payment and shipment was July 12. Apparently, it takes a while to arrange drop shipments from China!

I have complete documentation of everything that has occurred, all receipts, all the shipping info, and all of her e-mails. Her e-mails will be her downfall, they are very incriminating! She openly stated that because I was a thief, none of my equipment would be covered by warranty for any reason ever!

As I continue to file disputes wherever I can, I am feeling better about this situation. I am getting favorable responses from the various agencies that I am dealing with and it looks action will indeed be taken against her.

Once the financial end of this is determined, I will pursue the criminal aspect. At this point, she will have several issues to deal with: fraud, attempted intimidation, attempted extortion, and filing a false report with law enforcement. Add to that the use of electronic means to attempt a crime and the crossing of interstate lines (interstate criminal activity). One other possibility may be liable.

Thanks Bad Karma, I am familiar with the LLC designation, but that won’t do Cammie much good in this situation. Her personal admissions have removed the LLC protection that she thinks she has.

Hi OBXGardener, I am not familiar with the Stealth Hydro situation. Would you please elaborate?

Hi Thawk, I’m not familiar with Gotham Hydro either, I’ll try to take a look. We do have some good sponsors here, Mike at GLH, and the lights from Advanced LED look pretty nice.

Thank you all for your kind words and your support! I would really like to see this person disappear from the internet altogether. If she gets enough bad publicity and her sales plummet, she might indeed disappear! Sadly though, I suspect that if that happened, she would probably regroup, change her company name, stop using her personal name and continue her internet scams; at least until she is identified again.

I do encourage everyone to spread the news at any MMJ sites that you frequent. I also encourage you all to link to this thread from other sites whenever you have a chance. It is my understanding that if this thread is linked to a few times from other sites, that Google will pick it up and whenever anyone enters a query for LED information, this thread might be included in the hits. That would be great and the news would spread much faster!

I sent you the web address in PM Jeb. I don't think it will take you too long to find your person on that site.

Jeb55 I'm sorry to here about the experiences you had with cammie... Wile I was following Irish Boys LED treads I learned all about HER and her sales tactics.. Not to cool...

At this current point and time... Mike at GLH has the only reputable LED light for our MED needs.. It's being tested in the consumer reports section of 420 mag... If you haven't stopped by that part of the site I would suggest doing so before making any LED purchases..

Thank you to those of you who have PMed me, unfortunately you need 50 posts to your credit before you can us the PM feature and I cannot respond. The URL that was sent to me was blanked out so I didn't get it. I understand though and do not want to cause the 420 staff any grief.

Thanks again to everyone!

I just followed your steps and wow!!!!!!!

One site dedicated to what a scam LEDgirl and her business Hydro-Grow LED Lights.... It is Ugly in there lol.

LED girl made her bed at a very big and popular site and it tore the site in two because of the owner's preference for money over integrity. I do not go to that site anymore for various reasons including the integrity deal.

To all potential LED light buyers, I am offering this information to keep you from the nightmare that I have entered!

I came to 420 Mag in May to learn information about growing and LED lights. This is truly a wonderful site with all of the growing information that anyone would need. Thank you all for all of your knowledge! I am on my first grow and all of you Grow Masters would be proud of how I have used your information, I am very, very pleased with what you have taught me!!

However, LED information seems to be a little harder to glean, more so in May, than currently. As such, I had to digest what I could and take my best shot. I had searched the web before I came to 420 Mag and found a lot of lights to choose from, but only considered one; ProSource UFO's. I got a quote from ProSource and then presented them with two ProSource discount coupons that I found on web sites where ProSource was advertising. They refused to honor the coupons, so I refused to buy the lights. By this time I had found 420 Mag and began to digest the information from the LED sponsors.

It came down to two lights, Mike at GrowLEDHydro, and Cammie at ------------. My best choice was Mike at GrowLEDHydro so I contacted him and we put together a package that would work for my needs; unfortunately, he then explained that the lights were out of stock and it would be about three weeks before they would arrive. Here's a lesson; don't be impatient!! When you have digested all of the information and have come up with the best choice, be patient, you made the best choice for a reason! I, on the other hand, was impatient and a fool and settled for second best! The three weeks wait for Mike would have meant nothing compared to the horrors that I have experienced with Cammie at ------------.

I am growing in two 4x4 tents, one for veg and one for bloom. Because I didn't know much about growing, Cammie tried to oversell me on lights and wanted me to buy eight lights for about $6,000.00. I passed on her suggestion for eight lights, but then took her suggestion that two 126w lights would do for the veg tent. I purchased two 345w lights for the bloom tent and two 126w lights for the veg tent.

The 126w lights were not the answer which was apparent quickly. I contacted Cammie and asked if I could upgrade to two 205w lights. She agreed, but she said that the 126w returns were now used and she would have to deduct $100.00 per light from my credit towards the two 205w lights. Bottom line is, I purchased two 345w's and two 205's for $3550,00.
When I asked for an address to ship the 126w lights to, she said that she was moving and would not be able to give me an address for a few days and to not ship the lights. It took two weeks for her to send an address, (and my crop was suffering) I asked on June 15, she sent it June 29. I shipped the lights to her the next day, June 30 and she got them July 6. The new lights (205w) arrived on July 19 (and my crop is still suffering). One of the new lights was defective! I e-mailed Cammie and she e-mailed me back on the 26th. 14 days later, my replacement light was shipped from China (and my crop is still suffering). The light arrived August 12 (and my poor crop is still suffering).

By this time I had already told Cammie that her customer service was the worst that I had experienced in my life and that I was very sorry that we had done business together and that I would have returned the lights to her were it not for her 25% restocking fee! She said that she was sorry that I felt that way and that maybe only 1 in 300 of her customers had any complaints. Some of the excuses that she gave for so much delay time were: I had to move and could not take care of business, my family came to visit and I had to go to Disneyland for a few days and could not take care of business, someone at the factory in China died and I could not take care of business! I think that you get the picture!

I lost a few plants in this process and had some very sick ones that it has taken a long time to nurse back to health. Not wanting to be in this position again (and since Builder let the cat out of the bag about LED power sources), I e-mailed Cammie and told her that I wanted to purchase additional power sources for my lights at my cost and nothing to do with any warranty issue. She e-mailed me back and made no mention of power sources, but, said that she had not received the defective light that I had sent back to her through UPS and was going to file a complaint. She e-mailed me again and said that UPS had lost the light in shipment and that they would only reimburse her for $100.00 because I had failed to insure her package. She said that I was a thief and had stolen a light from her. She demanded that I pay her $600.00 within 48 hours or she would call the local Sheriff and file a complaint for theft and I would be arrested for growing marijuana.

I e-mailed her back and told her that I was sorry that her light had been lost by UPS and that I had followed her return instructions in accordance with her web site policies and that her issues were with UPS and not me. I also explained that I did discuss insuring the package with the UPS clerk, but the light was defective and there was no way to place a value on it. She e-mailed me back and restated that I was a thief and that the Sheriff would indeed be visiting me and I would be going to jail for growing marijuana and that I should have thought about watching my back before I screwed her out of a light! She also told me to never contact her company again for any reason.

I went to the UPS office where I had shipped the package from, when I explained to the clerk why I was there, her mouth fell wide open for a moment and she said "Oh my god, you're the poor man that's having to deal with that crazy woman". The clerk told me that the Sheriff's Department had indeed contacted them about the complaint. The clerk told the Sheriff that there were no improprieties, only business as usual, that they had lost a package and the complaint was just sour grapes from an unhappy customer. The Sheriff never did contact me because I have an MMJ card and am completely legal (so I assume).

Since then, one of my 345w lights has lost a power source and two of my light engines are not working. I e-mailed Cammie yesterday to make a warranty claim (her web site says the lights have a three year warranty). She e-mailed me back today and told me that I am a thief and when I pay her $600.00, then we can talk about power sources.

So there you have it, right from the horse's mouth.

When making a purchase, you are buying more than just the product, you are buying a warranty, you are buying customer service, and you are buying the security of knowing that the person that you are buying from is honest and will be there in the future to service their product and your needs! None of that is offered at ------------, or through Cammie McKinse. SO AGAIN, BUYER BEWARE!!!

Because Cammie has defrauded me, I am seeking full recourse through PayPal and my credit card company. I hope to make her reimburse my account and return her poorly made junk to her. I'll keep you informed.

In the mean time, if any LED vendors or enthusiasts know where I can purchase a power source for these lights, I would greatly appreciate having that info.

Be well, be safe!
JB

hind sight is 20/20 you should have thrown som big cfls in ther to take up the slack while waiting. I found some nice 300 watt cfls at home de pot that work very nice for vegging.

I think she got pulled from the other popular site... I Just went and looked... Not one of her treads left on there...

Jeb55 I think your wish of her being removed from the web just might be coming true...lol

Yea dogsnova, it’s pretty interesting that so much is going on at this time. I did go take a look; I am a member of that site too. Actually, I am a member of four of the more popular sites, I just don’t go to those other sites since I started reading here and I have never posted on any of them.

I did see a post that made me wonder if I have done wrong. Apparently, a moderator deleted someone’s post and that person asked, why? He said that he had made the post because a vendor had turned a customer in for growing and he thought that was something that the community should know; I do not know if he was talking about this thread! While defending himself he gave several reasons why his post should not have been deleted; among them was the fact that he had not “linked” to the thread, but had only given instruction on how to Google it. That makes it sound to me like it is against the rules to link to outside posts!

If that is the case, I apologize to all of you for suggesting that this thread be linked to from other sites!! I would not knowingly suggest that anyone break the rules of our hosts and I certainly do not want to cause them any grief (thank you 420 for hosting a community for us all).

The Mods here are pretty cool... just take a look at the guidelines, and PM me if you have any questions...

This thread is valuable information IMHO... but we must be careful to tread lightly... just my humble opinion too.

Just fyi - direct links or mention of competing cannabis sites is prohibited, but google does reveal quite a bit...

On the Stealth Hydro - I'm not able to give details... I just would NOT do business with that company... again, in just my PERSONAL opinion... Martin Wiggett does not deserve a place in our community.

It is best to google the hell out of any business you plan to do business with. Seriously. You can Google People, sites, merchandise and ask really pointed questions. I just googled that girl's site name (no pointed questions and no mention of scams) and right on the top of the list was all kinds of outright scams and sites relating to scams.

She started off with a lot of muscle at the other site and had administrative control because she bought a banner. The complaints were insane and the sight owner's integrity was called out by MANY. I lost a lot of respect for that sight owner and there is no getting that back.

I really like the idea of a "wall of shame" sticky!

I like to call it Google education....lol

Prosecutors question defendant's medical marijuana defense

By Diana Hefley, Herald Writer
Published: Thursday, February 18, 2010

EVERETT — Cammie McKenzie grows marijuana to treat her chronic back problems.

Two back-to-back car crashes in 2006 left her with bulging discs, pain and arthritis in her spine, McKenzie told a Snohomish County jury Wednesday.

She is an authorized medical marijuana patient. She is allowed under the law to have a 60-day supply of marijuana to treat her health ailments.

That's why she was growing marijuana in the Bothell house she was renting when police raided it in 2008, McKenzie said.

Prosecutors and narcotics detectives see it differently. They believe McKenzie, 24, was using her medical marijuana authorization as a front for an illegal pot farm. They allege that McKenzie was growing more plants than she was allowed and illegally selling what she wasn't smoking or eating in baked goods.

McKenzie argues that prosecutors are basing their case on the word of her former roommate, a known drug dealer who lied about his involvement in selling marijuana. He was promised that he wouldn't be prosecuted for dealing if he testified against McKenzie.

It will be up to a jurors to hash out the truth, and sort out the state's medical marijuana law, which many agree often creates more questions than it answers.

Wednesday marked the second day of testimony in Snohomish County's first trial centered around medical marijuana. Attorneys are expected to wrap up today and send the case to the jury to deliberate.

McKenzie is charged with manufacturing marijuana, a felony.

“This case is not about medicine. This case is about money,” Snohomish County deputy prosecutor Matthew Baldock said in opening statements Tuesday. “The defendant was masquerading as a marijuana patient and was in reality a drug dealer, no question.”

Baldock called two witnesses, both detectives with the Bellevue-based Eastside Narcotics Task Force in his case against McKenzie. He rested his case Wednesday but was allowed to reopen his case when defense attorney Natalie Tarantino brought up Baldock's failure to identify the defendant as the person who has been charged.

Tarantino asked the judge to throw out the charge against McKenzie based on a lack of evidence, including the state's failure to prove beyond a reasonable doubt that her client is, in fact, the person charged with the crime.

Superior Court Judge George Appel denied the motion and instead allowed Baldock to bring a detective back on the stand to testify to the defendant's identity.

Jurors were shown a photocopy of a driver's license with a picture of Cameron Scott Wieldraayer. That was the name of the defendant before she changed both her gender and her name. The detective identified the person in the driver's license photograph as McKenzie.

Jurors were advised at the beginning of jury selection that McKenzie previously lived as a man. The announcement was made in attempt to dismiss any jurors who couldn't be impartial or fair based on McKenzie's gender transition.

McKenzie took the stand Wednesday.

She explained in detail how to grow marijuana. She currently runs an Internet business selling growing equipment. She also detailed how marijuana helps her manage her medical symptoms. She said she'd gone through physical therapy, chiropractic treatments and was prescribed a litany of pain medications, including strong opiates. She didn't respond well to the treatments.

Marijuana “stops the brain from acknowledging the pain,” allowing her to function, McKenzie said. She told jurors she consumes up to a quarter-ounce a day. At that rate, her pot consumption would fall well below the state's allowable medical marijuana possession limit of 24 ounces in a 60-day period.

McKenzie started growing her own marijuana beginning in 2006 because it was too expensive to buy from a dealer. She said she renews her doctor's authorization regularly.

McKenzie adamantly denied that she was selling marijuana or using her operation to make a profit.

Prosecutors are expected to call McKenzie's former roommate to the stand today.

I found this and thought that it was interesting, but I have not found the rest of the story yet!

The Plot Thickens... I would love to see this court case on the other site I used to visit lol. LED girl is really a boy lol.

Hello jeb55...,

I just heard about your aweful situation with this LED light vendor.....and you have my sympathies...

Over on my site we have had alot of awkwardness with the owner of this company you mention.....but since my old webmaster had organized a year long contract for her to advertise with my site I had to let her banner run its course.......a few months ago she was banned from posting due to her abrasive attitude with many members that she upset for one reason or another.....and now I hear of your plight here and have removed anything to do with her and her company from my site......

I don't think that it is good to advertise her company in any way whatsoever ever again......any publicity can be good publicity, whether it be good or bad and may lead other growers to buy from her, so this is why we have removed any mention of her company or name from my site....

She [proved to be totally un-professional, abrasive and (as I read your thread) untrustworthy....and I do hope that you get your funds back and some satisfaction in so doing.....

Grow On!

Thank you Gypsy Nirvana, I'm really glad that you have taken that action! It is the right thing to do!! She has really caused a lot of grief for me; we can keep her from doing these same things to others and we will all be better off for doing so. If I can prevent even one person from being subjected to what I have, it will be well worth the effort!

I live very rurally and my closest neighbor is a half mile away. It is very quiet and comfortable here and I don't even lock my doors, until now. Even though I am legal and licensed to grow, I am very uncomfortable now that the Sheriff has been to my home and knows that I am growing. I am locking my doors now and I am always listening for the sound of someone driving up on me! No one locally knew what I was doing, now someone knows and I will be moving my operation as soon as I can.
