Carcass' $150 Low Budget Grow 2019

I've gone in and checked on them about 8 times today-I'm not sure
what I think they're gonna do,but I check anyway...
Reminds me of the old saying "A watched bud never dries"....(or something like that;))

Good Morning All! Hope your Sunday is going well so far...

I've got a little question about my Northern Lights-I know she's getting older, and fading is normal at this stage-that may be all this is...but, to me, it doesn't look right-she started this a week ago-it seems like she decided she is too close to the light (after almost 3 months under the same light)....all the colas are doing this, lower leaves are ok

Nothing can be done about it this late in the game, but I'm curious as to what you think this is-light burn, or the normal end of life fade?...or something else that I haven't thought of.
She's not showing amber yet,so she has a little while to go.
Her nutes have not changed.

It’s a little concerning that it’s hitting the sugar leaves. You might want to go ahead and chop soon. But get other opinions before you listen to my willy nilly advice. ;)
That's what I was thinking too. But with my extremely limited grow experience (still about a month out on harvesting my first grow), didn't think it was place to say so.

Thanks,Emilya-I alternate between 6.2 & 6.8 on the pH....BUT,I'm using a $12.00 pH pen,
So I may be getting incorrect readings-the Peyote Critical didn't do this, but,I know every strain is a little different-Northern lights may just be more sensitive..

I will get a better pH tester-I'd also been using rain water up until 3 weeks ago, which needed very little adjusting,so accuracy wouldn't be as critical-but my tap water comes out at about 8
And obviously needs more adjusting,so accuracy would definitely be more of an issue.

IMO- its light burn.
It sure looks like it,but she's been 11" from the light for the last two months (she wasn't tall enough before that)-I know that's real close, but with my growspace, that's as far away as it gets...
That, combined with the wrong pH could be taking it from bad to worse....

I think you're right-it was going to be soon anyway, but now I think it'll be a little sooner.
That drying closet is going to be fuller than it's ever been!

I use the tester that came with the PH+/- to test the water with the nutes
I use vinegar or baking soda for that, but I do calibrate the pen every other watering with the "official" calibration stuff-but if the pen is just not accurate, calibration may not matter much.

If nothing else, at least you'l know it'll be more of a cerebral high than a body high with the slightly early harvest. At least that's what I've read in numerous places.

Thanks,Chef- There's a good chance that most of her is going to be given away anyhow-I've got enough PC to last me a loooong time, and I think I'm going to be stingy with her.
I should probably sample an NL bud-she may be "ripe" enough right now...

I bet you adjust to the middle of the pH range all the time, where just a few dips to the lower end in mid flower could have avoided some of this.
Thanks-I will definitely remember that for my upcoming grow!
(and get a real pH tester)

I'm looking at a Bluelab BLU2210-non replaceable probe, but it's on sale -88 bucks with a bottle of 7.0 calibration fluid.
The new tent will have to wait- pH is something that doesn't lend well to "guessing"...

**edit : It's 20 minutes later,and it's on the way...
**edit : it's an hour and a half later and cancelled the Bluelab for an HM Digital PH 200,as recommended by @Old Salt -better accuracy, replaceable probe,$97.00 out the door....

The accuracy of this pen's readout is ±0.2 pH. This takes into account both the measurement, and digital conversion errors (accuracy and precision). If you want to stay within the range of 6.2 to 6.5, this pen won't do it for you. A reading of 6.2 means the pH is between 6.0 and 6.4, while a reading of 6.5 means the pH is between 6.3 and 6.7.

Thanks,Salt -Is there an affordable alternative that you know of (around $100)-I've got no problem cancelling my order-although there's a good chance this one will get me closer to the ballpark than my existing cheapie...

I use an older model of the HM-Digital PH-200. It has an accuracy of 0.02pH and precision of 0.01 pH. They've updated it, and the new version has not to great specs. The accuracy is the same as the BlueLab (0.1pH), but the precision is much better at 0.01 pH. I'm glad I can still get replacement sensors. You'll really need to look closely at what's currently on the market. I have used one of the cheapos with a combined error of ±0.05 pH. I went back to my HM Digital because I couldn't locate more of the cheap ones. They were about $25. The HM Digital can be had for $101, and the replacement sensors are $40.
