Carcass' $150 Low Budget Grow 2019

Wait...one seed one sprout? Where even am I?
I know, right? You coulda knocked me over with a feather when she popped out of the ground..
I top, train, and defoliate my autos the same way I do my photos
That's how I do it, too- don't want to spoil 'em..;)
I take the topping one step further and continue to top every possible node site till I’m ready to flower.
Thank You, T.- I might give that a try...seems to work pretty well for you !

And now, how about a final "thing" on the ATF that was harvested a week ago?

I tried to get this posted earlier, but the washing machine broke and I had to fix it first..

.....seems a bit ironic...🤔

She was in the drying box for 7 days, time to jar her up:

Ended up just shy of half a pound..7.8 oz/221g (zeroed for the pan) ..Missed it by that🤏much!:)

One of her buds- frosty and stinky

That about closes the book on the ATF- 152 days from sprout..

And, I haven't killed the little Wookiee auto yet, so that's a good thing!

Happy Hump Day! I hope your week is going well...
Thanks for looking, I appreciate the support..
See you next time..:peace:

Nice take Carcass and some lovely colors on her! :Rasta:

Good morning C Breeze!

Good job! I wish I could get those kind of yields.

And Wookiee seeds don’t sprout, they explode through the dirt. Super sonic genetics in those little puppies.

Thanks, GDB!

Thanks, T.-
They're coming your way, T. ...just keep doing what you're doing!
Congrats on that huge harvest Carcass. :yahoo:
:happy-birthday: Baby Wookies!
Thank You, Boo! that should keep me & the family smokin' for awhile!:passitleft:

Wookiee is 3 days old, so she's made it past the "damping off" stage...looks like she's here to stay (for 3 months or so... :) )

A belated congrats on both your AH and your ATF grows! :bravo: Both were beautiful plants and quite educational to follow along. I bought some Grow Dots and Recharge, but gave it to my son to use. He'll be my guinea pig - thanks for the Purpinator tip. I will, however, be trying out a SIP on my outdoor summer grow, so fingers crossed.

Sweet!- I know you'll dig the SIP once you get it going!
be sure to post a link in #SIP Club so we can follow along.

How about a Memorial day Update?
Not a whole lot to talk about- the Wookiee auto (a gift from the PNW seed fairy:love:) is not growing very fast- hopefully, she's just working on roots right now, and she starts growing faster in another week or so.

7 days above ground, 1.5" tall
2.JPG

The soil is pretty dry on the surface, it starts getting moist about a half inch down..
She's drinking less than a tbsp. a day right now...she seems pretty happy with that.
There's about 1/4 tsp. of Grow Dots mixed into the soil.

New growth is coming in a bit funky...
4.JPG

She was watered once from the top when the seed went into the soil- then, watered from the bottom ever since- here's the overflow on the outer cup ...it's not really a SIP, because there's no air gap, but it's close...I guess you'd just call her a wick-watered seedling?
overflow.jpg

And the wicks in the clear inner cup...since she's watered exclusively from the bottom, I saw no need for drain holes- this may be a mistake.... or not ...we'll find out in the coming weeks.
There's a half inch of perlite in the bottom, because I figured it couldn't hurt ...
That string goes about halfway up in the soil, then it loops back down and out the other hole...
I don't think it's possible to overwater with those size wicks- larger wicks might get the soil too wet, but the string I used seems to be just the right size to do what I want it to do..

One more thing- I never found my Grow Dots 😠, so I had to order more- I was going to go with the extended release version, but, right now, the smallest pkg they have is 50 bucks plus shipping, so I went with the regular $8 Dots.
Anyhow, they've changed the NPK of the Dots...used to be 16-11-11, the new version is 16-8-11.
It's pretty obvious to me that the old Dots were already a bit weak in the bloom nutes dep't., so what do they do?
They put less phosphorous in the formula- seems pretty stupid to me, but I'm not a nute expert...
Might need a little more Purpinator for this one....🤔

And that's about all I've got today!
Thanks for looking, I appreciate the support:love:

Please take a moment to remember those who died for our country..❤️

Those wicks will work both ways. If you had an empty reservoir and thoroughly soaked the top medium, the wicks would drain the excess into the reservoir. You should be fine.

How about a Memorial day Update?
Yes, for after all it is a Monday!

I'm sure this will turn out to be a goody in the end! :) And bottom watering my SWICK seedling didn't stall it for a minute.

I'm pretty sure you would have been fine without the phosphorus and done just as well with Terp over Purp. 16-8-11 is still more P than your plants need.

I’m excited to watch you grow a Wookster! In fact I don’t think I’ve been this excited since last Summer when I …[*Edited by Admin due to lewd and inappropriate language*]

Those wicks will work both ways.
I didn't even think about that- Thanks, Azi!
So I couldn't overwater her if I tried...

I'm sure this will turn out to be a goody in the end!
I'm sure she'll do fine- I always think autos are growing too slowly early on..

16-8-11 is still more P than your plants need.
Thanks, Shed, that's good to know!
I just figured if they needed more K, they might need more p also...although I never did see any sign of a p deficiency.🤔

I’m excited to watch you grow a Wookster!
Thanks, T!- I hope it's one that does well- but ya never know till ya know with an auto...😁

Nice update Carcass. I love the name "Wookiee" and hope she does justice to the CarcassGrow® brand!

Better to lose another $8 dollar bag than a $50 bag!

What color is the string you used for that wick?

Probably not, but don't try.
I just top her off every morning, and she takes what she needs- she uses around a teaspoon a day right now..
Better to lose another $8 dollar bag than a $50 bag!
Definitely! and cheaper, too! (probably $75 with shipping and tax...)
What color is the string you used for that wick?
8" of white kite string! (the yellow string is nylon, not sure it'd wick correctly)
but, it turns brown from the AloeVera in the water..

If the white kite string is cotton or some other organic material, it will begin to break down and do so in an anaerobic environment. I know not everyone shares my enthusiasm for anaerobic water composting but that's something even I wouldn't do in an active growing environment.

However, in a small swick that's probably not all that much of a concern due to the small reservoir and short amount of time the plant will spend in that container.

But, for larger setups intending to be used for the entire plant cycle your choice of material for the wick is something to consider.

I've found polypropylene rope wicks well and is available in many sizes if you need to swap out an organic thread.

Thanks, Azi!-
I didn't even think about that- in this instance, I only need it to last about 3 weeks- but if I
ever do a bigger one, I'll use something synthetic so it doesn't biodegrade...

Question: Would my solo cup be an anaerobic application?
And if so why? there's plenty of air holes in the clear cup...

I know squat about composting...

I'm thinking about the string degrading down in a constantly filled reservoir. You don't want nasties building up down there, either.
