Carcass' $150 Low Budget Grow 2019

Very nice mini update. Plants are looking good.

she'll get a little extra shot of nitrogen, although I'm not sure yet just how I'm going to do that....
So, have you figured out how you’re going to do that? I’d be curious as well.

Congrats on the MotM noms Carcass and @BigD13!
Thanks, Boo!
And a big congrats to you for your JOTM nom!

I have not, at least not for the Iced Grapefruit- but I did feed the Kalashnikov Veg nutes (5-3-4) instead of the Bloom nutes (3-5-5), plus a little Terpinator (As suggested by @InTheShed -Thanks, Shed!)

I have some other nutes coming from the POTM win, but they're not here yet- when they do get here, I should have a few other nitrogen sources to choose from- or, if the veg nutes and Terp do the trick, I'll just stick with those...
Things seem to happen pretty slowly with the GF nutes, so I won't know for 5 or 6 days if what I did actually helped anything....
I will probably be trying out my own suggestion above!
That's what I did yesterday, now we just wait on the result :thumb:

Sweet! Now we wait and watch...
I'm watching...not seeing any positive changes yet, but it's only been 2 days...
@Carcass, do you intend to run just the Veg and terp all the way to the end?
If it fixes the problem, yes- I'll continue with it on the Kalashnikov auto - If the Iced Grapefruit starts
to do the same thing, I'll have a decision to make about how I want to fix that one...:hmmmm:

The whole nute thing confuses me. Shouldn't whatever product line you're using be able to provide all the nutes your plant needs? That's what drew me to MegaCrop but it looks like I'll also be trying GeoFlora soon, too. I'm happy they have a thread here now. That should be extremely helpful.
Omg me too.

I just want one bottle. One thing. Not this 346 different bottles and a squirt of this and a squirt of that.

What country are you from trala? I could recommend an all-in-one bottled nute although I have not used it to harvest yet. About to flip to flower next week. There may be a website for the US, I'm not positive. I know it can be had in the UK. It's made in Canada. Mantis nutes

I've been unable to find a way to get it in the US.

:ciao: Morning Carcass! I putzed around a bit and tried making your little hook thingys. I had wire left over from an electrical outlet being installed, green garden type wire, and a paperclip. I really wanted to use a plastic coated paperclip but I didn't have any.

The electrical wire was a bit too thick and the garden wire was too flimsy. The paperclip worked pretty well. I'll find some plastic coated ones and make more! Thanks for the invention! :high-five:

I thought there was a website I read about that shipped it there at one point. Have you tried looking at other Canadian websites besides the mantis website to see if they ship it to the US?

Please let me know if you find it. As far as I can tell they only have one website and no US shipping. I also found it at a Canadian grow shop that also doesn't ship here.

Yes, mantis only has the 1 website for themselves. But there's lot of online shops here that carry it, so I'm curious if one of them will ship there. I'll try and do some digging for you today. Where there's a will there's a way. There's a place in the UK that gets it in and sells it, gotta be possible.

That's why I like MegaCrop. There's no fussing about. The only thing "we" (my husband and me) don't like about it is that it's hard to dissolve in water but my plants look pretty good so I don't believe it's an issue.

Nice work, Boo. I bought some 24 gauge artistic wire, some gardening wire (like your middle one) and some garden ties to try this but I haven't yet.

I bought 24 gauge wire because someone said they wish they'd gotten a bigger gauge because the 20s they used was hard on their fingers. Being that I knew nothing about gauge sizing, I figured that 24 gauge would be bigger than 20 gauge but my husband, Felonious Punk corrected me on that. :thedoubletake:

Yep.. the easier, the better!
Beautiful as always Carcmeister :) :) :)
Thank You, Trala! I'll say the same about your ladies, they're looking sweet!

Looks good, Boo!...they're just a bit harder to bend than 20 ga. copper wire-
but, you only need to make them once...and the plastic coated ones will also grip the stick a little better so they won't slide unless you want them to..

Yeah, unfortunately, 20 ga (copper) is about as small as you can go- soft enough to bend easily, but strong enough that the plant can't (usually) straighten out the "hook" part.
Maybe you could just double up the 24 ga? That's what I do with the 20 ga. if a particularly strong branch straightens out the hook.

I did a little looking around while taking a break from the garden. There is 1 place I found that says they ship within Canada and USA, called indoorfarmer. Whether or not they can ship that specific product you'd have to try and find out.

What I did was went to Google and searched "mantis nutrients canada"
On the first 2 pages there's is a bunch of places that carry it, some say they don't ship to USA and some don't say whether they do or not. I checked their websites FAQ and shipping policies to find out, but some may require an email to find out.

I hope this helps some, there was about 10 places that carry it in my search, I'm sure there's more. I'll keep searching around.

Just had a look at this out of curiosity. Seems easy enough to get in the UK as you said. For £85 a litre I'd hope for some serious results. Must have unicorn blood in it

I know, I know, it's a bit expensive. But when you think about some other nutrient lineups you have to buy all sorts of additives or even their whole lineup, that adds up. I've got the full GH flora series lineup, cheaper nutes but still a lot of coin to get all of it shipped.

I'm not trying to sell anyone on it, just helping locate it for interested people, but the simplicity is unreal. Same amount through the whole grow, everything is buffered. I have 3 strains all different ages, 1 of them in dwc, when I mix nutes I don't have to mix 3 different buckets at different strengths and levels, I make one large batch and off I go. I don't need to change my res every week either because it's the same feed.
5ml/L all the way, I'm liking it. Only thing I add is a little cal-mag because I use RO water.
